Celtic Frost - Live (St-Gallen), 1985 Welcome to the dusty post for the rear guard: here is a batch of live tapes of your favorite 80s punk rock & hardcore. I took the liberty to also include some of the Carnivore, CF, CCM, Verbal Abuse, Indigesti and Negazione live tapes that were previously posted, because I felt like it and because it makes a nice completion since several of these shows took place in the same venue (La Tannerie in Montélimar or Clef De Sol in Grenoble, France). I attended some of these shows (and the bands I used to be a member of opened for two of these: Scream - with Dave Grohl - and Negazione, zer & triplafuckingzer). Negazione posted for free download a long list of complete live shows on their bandcamp page, I am posting here the best sounding ones (they lifted the Montélimar gig from my previous post and added it to the page). Most of this stuff is purely for nostalgia purposes. The sound quality is generally very rough - audience recordings made with 80s tape decks LOL because no, there was no direct-to-WAV, self-compressing, self-limiting, distortion-eliminating $50 USB mini devices back then. CD was the new hot thing. To make your own live recording, you had to bring your boombox to the show, or a walkman with a recorder function, and hope 1) you would be allowed to use it 2) nobody would walk or jump on it 3) the audience would not speak too much near the mic. You generally ended up with a super crap tape, but happy. Hopefully the tapes posted today are above shit quality and mostly distortion free, but still not everyday listening material. I therefore clearly heard my wise lazy self and did not took the pain & the time to name & tag most files. I also did not erase most of the band/audience interactions, sometimes for minutes (those Minor Threat boys sure were very verbose), so you have tracks that are purely crowd blurbs. And I did no do any Eq or compression of any processing of any kind. To complain, please fill 9 copies of the A38 form and mail them to me with your $44.50 processing fee. Then I`ll hire a panel of experts to decide the best course of action in your very favorite top-down democratic way. Until then, enjoy the noise! The Rammer rip made me realize a little late that a few weeks ago I inadvertently switched on a setting that introduced a 2 second blank between each sound file. No big deal except for live recordings where this blank really is annoying so I regenerated the affected live releases (glad that I am so lazy and do not cleanup the computer that often, I still had the wav files) No new rips, just better file separation for these classic killer thrashing monsters. The Rammer rip was also cleaned-up & reloaded, in case you got the bad version with blanks between songs. Sorry for the fuck-up. Verbal Abuse - Of America,
1990 Vinyl LP Album Destiny Records - 05256/08 NRAR: missing from the VA post, here is the LP rip of that fantastic live recording. VA at the height of its powers! All the hits through a red hot set. Useless download if you already have the CD rip (and with fewer songs). VA rocks your head off! Remove brackets and unzip: [zerbal obtuse] !ZER Verbal Abuse ZER! |
| | 01. Various Artists - Speed Kills, But Who's Dying?, 2011 Just 4 Fun - FUN0000022, Compilation Contains 15 songs by: Shining, The, Verbal Abuse, Scheisse Minnelli It is only a few months ago that I found out that Verbal Abuse returned from the dead in 2005 with the original singer. So I was very excited about this release, expecting something as virulent as the first album or as juicy and meaty as Red, White & Violent. Mild disappointment, their songs on this compilation are not bad at all, but far from being as essential as the rest of their output. It is slower and punker than I expected. The other two bands make me bang my head a lot harder with their amazing crossover thrash. They sound almost more VA than VA... So this VA return is OK, but as far as returning dinosaurs are concerned, I'd rather listen to the new English Dogs. !ZER The Shining, Verbal Abuse, Scheisse Minnelli ZER! More CD rips to replace previously zerred vinyl rips: Heresy Concrete Sox Yes, the split LP on CD! But unfortunately, it's only a vinyl rip... the booklet is a great reproduction of the original LP, but still it's a fucking vinyl rip (a bit louder than mine), I should have known. the cultozerissimus erectilegendary split album, 1986 Ok, let's add a live split CD with Doom: Live! Udine, Italy , 30-03-1989 Warfare One of my top zer thrash bands ever, in the Venom|Tank|Bulldozer|Atomkraft family, THE ALMIGHTY WARFARE!!! Actually I never confessed, but I do prefer Warfare to Venom. Warfare are catchier and more punk, zerrRRrrRrRRRrR!!!! Awesome compilation on 2 discs: the best of Warfare CD 1, 1984/1985 the best of Warfare CD 2, 1984/1990 Metal Archive says: Tracks 1-11 on CD1 are from the debut album "Pure Filth". The tracks "This Machine Kills" and "Rose Petals Fall From Her Face" from the album "Pure Filth" are not on this compilation. Tracks 12-19 on CD1 and track 1 on CD2 form the entire 2nd album "Metal Anarchy". Track 2 on CD2 is from the 1987 Single "Addicted to Love". Tracks 3, 4 on CD2 are from the album "Mayhem, Fuckin' Mayhem". Track 5 on CD2 is from the 1984 Single "Two Tribes". Tracks 6-13 on CD2 are from the album "Conflict Of Hatred". The tracks "Wax Works", "Hate to Create" and "Fatal Vision" from the album "Conflict Of Hatred" are not on this compilation. There are actually demo and live tracks, they're not all from the "Pure Filth" or "Metal Anarchy" sessions, you still need the vinyl rips to have the real things. Now we also need the full "Mayhem" and the live album album from real digital extraction, PLEASE NEAT RECORDS BE NEAT! Dr. Know 2 more compilations from the nardcore kings: This one is "Habily (what was old is new)" plus 4 great covers songs (AC/DC, Metallica etc.), so I sold my copy of Habily: Fuck Off And Die!, 2002 "Best Of"s suck and discographies rule, but this one is an early discography called "best of". Not a full discog but has what we love most: the early material from Plug In Jesus, Burn, Original Group etc. It's all mixed up, which is dumb, but a quick reordering of the 33 tracks gives you all the early records without the vinyl cracks and pops, fuck yeah: The Best Of Dr Know, 1983/1986 (released in 2001) A.M.Q.A. Ok this is not a CD rip, but "Mutant Cats From Hell" has always been one of my favorite punches in the face, so I re-ripped it, yes! That's like the DKs and Slayer in one tight trio. The original re-rip motivation was that I just found the 7" under a pile of other things, and "Mutant" deserved a louder/cleaner rip than in 2008, so zer zer zer: Cats Are Neat 7", 1986 1. It looks useless but it has bonus tracks worthy of attentive headbanging (demos, comp tracks and several live tracks from the "Passport" live album, which is dumb, but zer). Anyway it is still a hard rocking crossover classic that every normal human and pig - whether involved in orgies or not - needs to own! just an american band + live 1984, 1983/1984 live, 1986 Just received my own copy of the CD, so here I post again this album, including an excellent 1984 live set, plus a 1986 bootleg recording (raw, unmixed tape quality, still very enjoyable, with many songs from "VA Rocks your liver"). I am disappointed that this CD is also a vinyl rip. Is there any real CD reissue, from the original master tape and not from an LP ? Still it may sound better than my own LP rip, but the pan seems unbalanced, wtf. Anyway, forget the technicalities and BURN WITH THE VERBAL ABUSE THRASHING ZERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CD rip.
