Plain rocking thrash metal, then deadly aggressive thrash metal: heart-shaped fingers. Now the newest album Absurdity: contains killer songs BUT the disgraceful, artificial tone of the kick drum prevents the album to gain five stars like its savage predecessors. Computers are great, just don't abuse with sampling in your mix! Still a great album that shall break some necks and bang that head. United have been a staple of the Japanese thrash metal scene for almost four decades, and with Outrage they are the least Japanese-sounding entity of the lot. Is this why Gotsu Totsu Kotsu, Jurassic Jade, Yasha and many others are more exciting? Value is subjective, nobody can answer. Let's just blast the monster Tear Of Illusion one more time to be sure. United - Scars Of The Wasted Years, 2012 CD      413TRACKS - FTCS-2494 When, after two classic albums, Metallica launched their tireless march into the infinite pit of diarrhea, United (originally a Judas Priest cover band in 1981) started the cloning operation to keep Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets alive (with emphasis on the latter unfortunately [yeah let's have a flame war about what is edible in the Metallica dung hill]). Then, after No IQ which reaches comical levels of impersonation, United turned up the heat and added a lot of Exodus in the recipe; so if new to their discography, I would recommend to start backwards to get the jaw breaking more recent albums first (especially the super powered Nine). Scars is a killer re-recording albums of the early material, with less Metallica and more teeth. United do not renew the style but THRASH TIL ZER! !ZER United ZER!
