Rock until you drop! I bought Why Play Around for the sole reason it was released by the label that had released Age Of Quarrel. Then, despite the absence of any sonic connection with the Cro-Mags,  I have banged my head for the next 33 years with that extra hot mix of early Anthrax, Raven, Motörhead, Anvil and everything that rocks. Plain heavy metal with enough dirt for the thrash fan and enough catchy crunchiness for the hard rock enthusiast: the perfect recipe to dislodge the pieces inside your neck! Wargasm were experts at this, cf. the amazing live album, they did know how to make these songs more than entertaining. It would be excessive to tag them as crossover, but the energy and the compact delivery are there, it is not surprising when punks also praise Wargasm. Wargasm ruled and they perfectly fit in this era of retro metal abundance. Listen to Wargasm instead of starting a war with Iran for fuck's sake! ROCK UNTIL THE END OF THE ZERIVERSE!

Wargasm

Why Play Around ?, 1988
Ugly, 1993
Fireball (Deep Purple cover + Dreadnaught Day + 4 live tracks), 1994
Suicide Notes, 1995
The first Wargasm album came out on Profile Records, like the Cro-Mags, Murphy's Law or Leeway, so I really had to hear this new band. It was heavy metal! But some amazingly groovy and catchy thrash metal with immortal choruses and 329 tons of stamina. All their records are prime-time thrash to storm your living room to! Wargasm rocks like Deadspot and Raven in a overheated blender with Motörhead and the first Anthrax, yesssss!!! Stunning thrashing rocking zerrrrrrRRrRRrRRrRr!!!rRr!Rr!RR!

CD rip.
