In the past decade and a half, it has been the case through the spiritual experience of Göden, Temple Of Void, Vektor, Cobalt, Howls Of Ebb, Vhöl, Furia and a few others. Now there is Suffering Hour. First, are they an Anacrusis tribute band? Not at all, although the width of their sonic panorama would tag them together in the vast cohort of purveyors of sophisticated creativity and exploration, they are like a research lab in riff perfection. On their first release, Suffering Hour actually reek of Coroner and Pestilence's Spheres perspiration with a layer or two of Atheist and Voïvod - complex and very rich yet extremely rocking and catchy, awesome, technical death thrash with a sinister vibe. The rough production makes it all the more exciting. A must for the 90s nostalgist! On the next releases, the blackness takes command and they gradually become some sort of black metal monster that echoes the lugubrious advancements of Howls Of Ebb and Furia and the rest of the Polish riff wizards. They did not shut down the progressive dimension of their craft during this evolution - progressive as in alive with many prongs, not as in pompous keyboards and female whispers, this is as funeral and thrashing as the HoB fan expects. This is why I am still in awe, the lightning has not finished its work, each play delivers a new thing to chew on and marvel at. These guys are as young as they are talented, creative and dedicated to make outstanding and thrilling black death. Let me now proceed to their website and order a t-shirt.
