Solitude - Virtual Image

Solitude - Virtual Image - 2001
01. Solitude - Virtual Image, 2001 CD Mini-Album EP
     Spiritual Beast - SBCD-0999
The Church was finally able to acquire a copy of the first release of the Japanese Solitude. Like its two classic successors, this "mini album" (36 minutes) deploys addictive, rough heavy metal sitting on the fence of thrash, with that Japanese vibe that makes all of us slaves. It is heavy, dark, catchy and of course pristinely executed, with perfect production. Why did Solitude not conquer the world?  Another brick in the wall of the Church!

Bang that head! The first Solitude was a US thrash metal band. Their brand of thrash focused on the heaviness rather than the speed. The demos have that nasty Nasty Savage and Coroner vibe while their sole album From Within becomes a little more melodic to explore the heaviest of what bands like Flotsam & Jetsam or Vicious Rumours were doing in the 90s. As catchy as crunchy, these songs are all killer and no filler while retaining a modernity that makes them 100% relevant 30 years later. From Within could be released today and the Church would not blink, would you? The other Solitude hails from Japan and delivers two monster releases of heavy metal with the thrash metal wrap. Also very heavy and very catchy, their output is simply another entry in the book of perfection for those who dig heavy heavy metal. The heaviest of Loudness and the heaviest of Anthem with rougher vocals await the avid consumption of the metallist. Two magnificent albums that could have been released in the 90s, and the Church would not have blinked. Both bands offer exemplary execution and production with unstoppable headbanging, first quality classic metal is four clicks away. Triplazering bang that head!
