Life Of Agony - A Place Where There's No More Pain, 2017 CD Album Napalm Records - NPR 659 JC 1993! Honeymoon in NYC. We are pissed because the week before our arrival and the week after our departure feature several amazing shows. On the noise-meter, our week is just dull. We end-up agonizing in a three hours lineup at CBGB to enter a super-packed Rollins gig. And it was so hot we did not even stay until the end. Catching a flyer for the album release party of a band called Life Of Agony, we decide to try that. And we are floored! Amazing show in a recycled church! The next morning, straight to the nearest record shop to get the CD. Masterpiece of super-addictive metallic & melodic crossover of the Leeway | Cro-Mags family, only enlarged! I was so hooked that the year after I got this digi with bonus live tracks. Few alums float higher in the zeriverse than River Runs Red. The following albums are less exciting. Ugly is very good, Broken Valley is totally great, even if both albums are not as heavy and dark as River. Although it features the drummer from the Crumbsuckers, Soul is disappointingly alt-rock, almost pop like a Stone Temple Pilot thing, only lighter (yes it is possible). The live unplugged is useless (I only like unplugged stuff when it is Terveet Kädet). The other live CDs are great. And... the new album is underwhelming. I expected more mass, more solid matter, more visceral hooks. Too much happiness? In my ranking, Broken Valley is superior. But let that not distract us from the triplazer running red!
