CD envelope using Sizzix dies

I am a keen amateur photographer, so I often get asked by my friends digital copies of the photos I have taken of them. As I buy blank DVDs in bulk for this purpose, I don't usually have any single cases around. So I came up with a DIY envelope that involves die cutting!

I used the Sizzix Bigz XL Die - Album, Accordion #2 656237. It is an old die so it may be difficult to find it. Alternatively you can use any 5" square card, and if you like the rounded corners effect, use one of the corner rounder punches.

I know you can buy the foam CD spacers stickers at the shops, but it is no fun. Much better to make your own. First, I looked for the right size die on my Circle Die Chart - you can see how I made it here - And yes, I had the right size which is one of the centres of the Winter Star flowers dies which I would never would have even thought of using but thanks to the Circle die chart I did.

I took a large Stix2 foam pads that are 2mm. I remove the protective backing and attached a piece of washi tape. then I die cut the foam.

I placed the DVD in the middle of the card and then I glue the foam dot.
I glued the tab on the right with a glue dot at the top and another one at the bottom. This will secure the CD even further.

To create the outside I wanted to create a label with my logo on. To do that I measure up the length and width of the die and then I replicate something similar but smaller with my logo on the computer. Then I printed out at 100%.

As you can see the print fits well inside the measurements.

As usual when die cutting something precisely, I use low tack tape - I have tried many but I always go back to the 3M Removable - to secure it in place.

And there it is after being die cut. I folded one of the sides and attach to the card.

And there you have it. Simple.

Free Crafty Storage Download for Old Labels dies

You all know how much I love craft storage and organisation - Crafty Storage is testimony to that is there was ever one!

In any case, I wanted to do some labels that had that older look for those boxes that I have that do not have a metal label holder, so I decided to make my own using the Sizzix Old Labels dies set from my Everyday collection.

And as I like to share, I have uploaded the pdf of the labels click bellow.
The one on the left has the names of the stuff and the other one is empty so that you can write your own.

You can download them for free.

You will need to print at 100%, borderless and with no expansion!
And remember that is free for personal use. Any other use contact me!

PS: if you cant download it, just let me know.

I like to print it in matt card 170 gsm as my printer struggles with anything thicker than that.

I place the die on top of one of the printed labels and secure it with a low tack tape.

You can see I did cut quite a few. I love seeing all those die cuts together!

Then I used the larger die from the same set Sizzix Old Labels dies and cut two at once using thin mirri card.

Then I use the bookplate embossing folder to emboss the edge, depending which side it is facing up. To make sure it doesn't move I used low tack tape. Yes, I use low tack tape a lot!

You can see the slight difference of the different way the emboss pattern goes.

But they both look good to me once layered, so I guess it doesn't matter that much which way you emboss the mirri card.

You can see above without the silver outliner and bellow with it. Also, I really like how it looks well with proper metal ones bellow.

Anyway, I hope you like the labels.
