Tonic Studios | Floral Blooms Frame

Sometimes just a bit of home decor with a photo is just the thing to make.

Tonic Beautiful Blooms - Woodland Aster 1285E - USA | UK

Tonic Patterned Panels Die Set - Classic Quatrefoil - USA | UK

Tonic Beautiful Blooms - Gerbera Daisy 1287E - USA | UK
Tonic Sew Pretty Zip & Button 1229E  USA | UK
Nuvo Embellishment Mousse - Aquamarine 807N - USA | UK

Nuvo Embellishment Mousse - Cosmic Brown 810N - USA | UK

The leaves and button have been coloured from white paper like I showed in this tutorial.

To paint the frame (directly on to naked wood) I used a dry brush and painted with Aquamarine - USA | UK - embellishment mousse. To add a bit of a distress look I used my finger and used the Cosmic Brown 810N - USA | UK - as a gilding wax around some of the areas.
Any questions, please leave them on the comments!

Tonic Studios | Floral card using Nuvo Crystal drops and floral dies

Last week I had the chance to play with the Nuvo Crystal Drops from Tonic in preparation for the shows at Create and Craft USA. And I will be honest, I was truly surprised at how good and versatile these are. You see, I have used some similar products in the past, but I have never achieved a good result. With these, straight out of the bottle, bam, perfect 3d dome effects every time!

But making beautifully domed embellishments is not the only thing you can make with them, you can actually use them as paints. In fact all the colour elements of this card have had the Nuvo drops treatment over them.

The obvious use for the Nuvo Crystal drops is to add three dimensional dome like dots, perfect for the centres of the flowers. Here I used Ivory Seashell that creates perfect pearls of practically any size you would want! (I would say that 1cm or 1/2" in diameter is about as big as I would go.)

But I also used the Nuvo Drops to colour in the die cut flowers, which were die cut out of plain white card using the Entwining Trellis Buttercup and Daisy set. I used Violet Galaxy for the flowers and Bottle Green for the inside bits. I used a make up sponge I dabb small amounts of the Bottle Green Nuvo Drop making sure that I blended it nicely all over the card.

The green circle was die cut out of a green card, but the shade was wrong for the green on the flowers that I already done. Using the Bottle Green Nuvo Drop i covered the whole area.
You can see the beautiful pearlescent sheen through out, thanks to the fact that both the Violet and the Green are pearlescent drops.

The Cherish the moment is part of the Sew Pretty  Cherish the Moment Rectangle Frame
and the circle of the Have a Beautiful Day Circle Sew pretty set.

If you like to put pearls and enamel stickers, you should give the Nuvo Drops a try!

New tutorial step by step for Sizzix | A pretty card made with a box die!

Last time I was here with an showing how the  the Sizzix Thinlits Plus Die Set 13PK - Box w/Fancy Lid 660841 makes lovely bows. Today, I will show you that you can use the decorative panels as well for cardmaking.
For this card, even though this is a Plus die, all the elements will fit through the regular Big Shot.

I place the die on the front of the card and secure it in place with low tack tape. Then I run it through the Big Shot and made sure from the back that all those lines were cut. Because it is such a detailed die, you may need to run it through a couple more times.

I cut a square piece of paper and layered in the inside. I then added a die cut bow from the same set.

I stamped the message using a sharp black in on a die cut banner (from the 660836
Sizzix Framelits Plus Die Set 16PK - Banners #2 ) and attach it so it overlaps.

I used the circles from the Bow set to add interest to the centres of the flowers.
And it was done. Very quickly but with quite a lot of detail!
