Wedding Wonders for UPA RAQ

Did you enjoy the first issue of Unruly PaperArts (UPA)? Wow, so much inspiration from the Columnists and guests and fabulous entries from the readers too. It's my turn this month to contribute. A sample for the Reader's Art Quest (RAQ) today and my very first column coming later in the month.

My focus for the RAQ is anything but a card (but could fit in with the lace theme too LOL), and is for the 'Wedding Wonders' overall theme.

I chose to re-cycle a small jar and make a small table light which could be used anywhere for decoration on the big day.

I forgot to take a photo before I started but here is the jar after the first couple of layers. Firstly I used paper lace on the jar as a mask and sprayed it with glass frosting.

I added lace, vintage paper and little stamps (from the G45 Romantique pad).

The lid was sprayed with antique white paint and when dry I added more vintage paper, cut out part of a Cheery Lyn doily and added some little embellishments, the ribbon rose and paper and lace horn were hand made. Jewellery comes in really useful for adding some sparkle.

I completed the jar by adding keys and a lock on chain, ribbon and pearl-twisted ribbon to complete the wedding look.

We hope you are enjoying the new Blogozine and are able to dip into the articles for some fabulous inspiration from the team. There are two RAQs every month and the FAQ section will answer all your questions about what and how you can enter. I do so hope to see you over there with your wedding wonders this month. The last dates for adding are clearly laid out on the blog. Just look for the labels under the blog header to find where you submit your piece.

I am hoping to see you over on the blog, let us know what you have enjoyed so far.

Have fun creating and making this month.

Cards in a Tin 1

Woo hoo, one of my projects is finished. As some of you know I have been making cards to fit a tin that I have now 'decorated' to become a pressie for a friend. We are going away this weekend to Walsall, Birmingham, to stay with a couple of our very good friends and this is going to be my 'Thank You' present.

The tin was one I bought for 25p in Wilkinsons and was in the Christmas leftovers bargain section last month. Originally it was full of eye shadows.

I have used alcohol inks and added paper and these little embellishments. The TH die cut heart and the crown has been heat embossed with white embossing powder, The winged heart - (another by Invoke) -  was stamped with Adirondack stream, some glitter pen added and then double embossed with clear embossing powder. The butterflies are both MS punches.

This fits challenges -
A Spoonful of Sugar - Anything but a card.
Whoopsi Daisy - Free and Easy
Simon Says Stamp - Make your own embellies

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Take care.

OSAAT challenge 42 - Anything goes

Happy Sunday everyone and now we are into advent. Isn't it exciting? I really love Christmas, my decs are down from the loft, we get our trees today and I shall spend spare moments decorating the house - I love it.

I had a little time this week to work on the new OSAAT challenge. I have been wanting to make a bird house for a while and with this gorgeous Chickadee digi from Blackberry Lane, it seemed the ideal opportunity.

I've had great fun with recycling an old box, playing with a paint crackle technique and getting some Christmas bits out of the loft to finish it off. So what do you think?

I have used my Ten Second Studio metal to make the red Poinsettia and I ran it through a texture fade, the turquoise flower is made of card. Notice the crackle effect on the box?

The instructions for this can be found HERE.

We are sponsored this week by Michelle's Scrap at http://www.michellesscrap.com/ and a $15 voucher will be given to the winner. But you could say everyone is a winner this week as there is a coupon code for our blog readers to save 10% on their order at her shop.

So with the theme 'Old Stash New Stash'  (Really Anything Goes Stash) we look forward to seeing your creations.

Have a fun week.
