Distressed vintage travel wallet

 Travel Wallet

Travel CVC June #2

Meet George Roberts who has a long journey to school every day. This means him having to rise at 6 and catch the 7.05 train from Springfield Street Railway Station in Windsor, to London, as he needs to be there by 8 am. He alights at Paddington Station and walks 10 mins to Paddington Technical College where he is studying engineering.

George buys his ticket every day which costs him 2 shillings. He has to be back at Paddington to get the 4.50 train home or get an evening ticket if he wants to stay later. He sometimes does that so he can socialise with friends he has made.

He keeps his tickets with a travel identity card provided by the Springfield Street Railway Company and distributed by the Post Office. If he is asked for it by the train conductor, he must show it as the certificate allows him to travel on School Day Tickets.

The wallet is a TH file folder covered with two different pieces of TH papers (one front and one middle). The story is told with the found relative photo, ephemera and stamps, I like to create additions myself if I can't find what I want in my supplies and here I did with his name, identity card label and Paddington station label.

This is my second June project for Country View Crafts 'Travel' FaceBook challenge. If you've popped over from there thankyou for your support.

Tuesday, 18 March 2025

I took advantage of being at Susan's - Country View Crafts - for the weekend and bought a fabulous new set of Vault dies that included this gorgeous little clipboard. After an eventful Saturday I sat down Sunday morning to make this little beauty,

Having die-cut the clipboard pieces from kraft and black card I made up the clipboard.............

............ then used distress inks to make a background

.............and to finish it off I added a paper doll and some snippets.

I can see this clipboard being used to make toppers for some of my panels.

Constructing Vintage Photo Cabinet Card Collage

Gelli printing, stamping and mixed media

A gelli print, a stamp and the idea of creating a mixed media cabinet card brought this project to fruition.

Played with Alison's poppy stamps on the gelli plate using Fresco Finish paints and ended up with a lovely design that I enhanced with a brown drawing pen. I cut it in half ........

...... and used one half as a wallpaper for the photograph, edged with a dark flowery paper that makes it stand out more.

I stamped the corners of the main card.

Next, gathered items to bring the design together including some embellishments, but knowing me these could change as I move things around to get a design I'm happy with.

Eventually happy with the design and the idea.

Supplies

TH Stamps - Victorian CMS300

Alison Bomber- EAB37 Poppy

Affirmations 1 - Distress vintage layers

Be Brave

It's the end of January as I'm writing this, the weather has been wet, chilly and even freezing but today we had some sunshine , blue skies and temperatures up to 10 degrees, you could almost say balmy weather. January into february is my SAD time when I need some love, time-out, friendship and excitement. But there are many of us in this position so I am going to build a box of affirmations to cheer me up.

This is #1. Just a small card 12 1/2 x 7 cms, covered in papers and ephemera with distress texture paste (matte), scraped into the edges of some of the bits of card, finger rubbed and then some distress stains painted in to give it some depth.

I carried on adding some inks spritzes of water and layers of pencils until it was nearly covered, dried it, ........

...... and rubbed away with a wet wipe to expose some of the pattern and text from the original layers, again dried it and finger rubbed some white gesso to create some highlights.
I finished by splattering some white gesso and distressing the edges of the card and rubbing walnut distress stain over them.
Now the background is complete, let's gather the collage elements and adhere them together to complete the project.

Using lace and buttons 2 - Country View Challenges (August)

My second project for the Facebook challenge Lace and Buttons on a card at #countryviewchallenges. Lots of #tim_holtz #ideaology products on this one. I haven’t actually put the panel on a card yet but I will when I need to.

Using lace and buttons - Country View Crafts challenge August 24

Lace and Buttons on a greeting card was the theme over at Country View Challenges for August, but I'm a bit late posting this. It was my first contribution to the design team inspirations.

A piece of corrugated cardboard box was used to mount the focal image and embellishments and give it some height.
I found three buttons in my button box and added 2 layers of lace, one bought lace and the other a diecut from TH Crochet Thinlits.
I distressed the real lace a little with distress ink and added some threads around the buttons.

I really rather like this shabby vintage card, I'm sure it will come in useful.
