Love sewing themes

Markers and PanPastels

Had a play with some new markers, PPs and those fabulous PaperArtsy stamps to create this little card. The background is my own digitally designed paper using elements from DigitalCrea.

The dress form was coloured with the markers and I used a blender to create the mottled effect which gives it a fabulous vintage feel to it. As I had stamped onto cream card I used PPs to colour in the bottom half.

Again the markers were used on the cotton reels and I finished them off with a Sakura glaze pen to make the colours stand out a bit more.

A simple card but I think it looks quite effective.

Hope you are having a good week.

PanPastels - Spring Time

I wanted to do something different with my card today and was in the mood to create digital images. So what I did was find this gorgeous group of birds at The Graphic Fairy and set about making a background using my PanPastels and masks, but I didn't fancy printing out the image and then trying to cut it out. So what did I do? I scanned my background into the computer and had fun playing around with ping files and a frame from DigitalCrea

So having merged all my elements together I have printed it out and added embellishments to finish it off.

You can see the design of my PP background using masks and embossing ink.

I added some music transparency with one of my downloaded butterflies I love to use.

This is called a hybrid card because it combines both digital and 3D handmade elements together.

I hope you will join us at PanPastel UK challenge blog this week with our 'Spring Time' theme and if you do you could be in with a chance of winning a PanPastel set from our very generous sponsors at Your Creativity Store.

Have a happy Sunday.

Birthday Hybrid card

Hi All

Did you have a good Valentine's Day yesterday? My OH had a meeting in London which only lasted the morning, so I got the train up and met him at Waterloo and we had a lovely afternoon walking round the streets, with a visit to Covent Garden where we sat sipping wine and listening to a quintet of violinists with one oboe player, playing music. We explored the market and after a great meal we headed back home walking across the golden jubilee footbridge and taking in the amazing sky line of London in the dark.

So for today here is another card created in PSE using downloaded image, papers and elements and just a couple of 3d embellishments on it.

I used the same elements to create the insert for the card.

Another easy one to put in the post box!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by to see me.

EDIT and update
I am trying to learn some functions in PSE and have found out how to fade the edges - thought I would see what this looks like on the blog. Not bad but must try some other effects.

Update 2
OK found another way to fade the edges, think I might prefer this way!!

New baby hybrid cards

Hello Everyone

I had a surprise phone call today from Shirley (Fashionable Stamping Challenges) who is back in the area for a week and we met up today with Claire, Amber and Irene to have a natter and to craft a little bit. I had hoped I would be seeing her Wednesday night but wasn't expecting to see her today, so that was a lovely treat. Thanks for a great day girls.

So onto my cards for today. My son's best friend and his wife have just had a baby girl and because they didn't know what sex it would be I made a card both for a baby girl and a baby boy.

I used downloaded images, papers and elements to create these in PSE, then added some decoupaged and 3D embellishments to them once I had finished. I need to make more of this type of card as they are flat and will post with a normal stamp on them. You know how expensive it is now to send anything that won't go through that thin slot in the post office!!

I found a fabulous site selling scrapbook digi kits called 'Digital Crea' and very reasonable prices too. Just love the elements that are included with papers. My images I think came from 'The Graphics Fairy'.

I hope your week goes well. Thanks for stopping by today.

Ravens

Yay it's Friday and if this has scheduled correctly, I am away for a long weekend in Swanage. Hopefully I will have my laptop and will be able to log in from time to time.

This is my second piece I have made for the Gingersnap Creations Poe month and this challenge is 'Ravens'.

I have made a second hybrid piece which will no doubt join the Horror Stories piece in my art journal.

The background I put together in Photoshop elements using images from Scrapbookgraphics, they were perfect for what I wanted and included the title and raven at the top.

I added to it by stamping the black raven to the left and the cobwebs using TH mini halloween and I cut out the bats, butterflies and eyes (from Graphics Fairy) and added the skull charm, spider and key.

I would also like to enter this into Corrosive Challenges - Flying things.

Have fun whatever you are doing and enjoy some crafty time of your own.

Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate all the lovely comments you leave me.

Poe - Horror stories

I am just catching up with the Gingersnap Creations Edgar Allan Poe month and this challenge was called Horror Stories, so here is mine.

Poe wrote a number of short stories and poems and I looked him up to refresh my memory, what surprised me though was when I looked for images of  'The Masque of the Red Death' there was Vincent Price staring back at me and reminded me I had probably seen the film in my youth when I used to go to Saturday afternoon pictures. I loved horror stories way back then - now I really hate watching anything like that, tooooo scary!!!!!!

This is a hybrid piece. I downloaded images from Scrapbookgraphics.com and used them for the base background and then added the title, charm, buttons, skull (one of my moulds) and black enamel accents with tiny red seed beads in it. I am going to add this to my journal OR if I get time I an going to make a Halloween book. I think the journal will win!

You can see that the backing paper is actually made up of layered pages of Poe's poems.

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you are getting some crafty time to make things.

Please don't forget to add any of your Halloween projects to my linky HERE - I am going to give one of my Halloween tags away to a random chosen person at the beginning of November.

Have a great day.

Halloween Tag

My tag today was made in Photoshop Elements using a background from Dezinaworld and other elements from the Graphics Fairy and sentiment from Inktegrity. The black butterfly is also from Graphics Fairy cut out, stickled and sprayed with silver shine.

I have stamped and added a TH ticket highlighting the date for Halloween, some ribbon and the flowers.

I hope you are having fun creating Halloween bits and pieces. We don't celebrate it, but I like playing with the darker elements just once a year.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Hybrid card

Digital crafting and is on the up an up where all the crafting is done via your computer with digital images printed out to use.  Well, hybrid crafting is just a combination of creating digital layouts and images with the physical making of something, (I don't think this refers to digi stamps).

As you know I love to play with digital images, combining them and layering them and this is what I have done with this card, layering a flowered frame with a postmark, butterflies and part of an address. I printed it out with extra butterflies that I cut, covered in distress stickles and added to it. I distressed the edges and added stickles, mounted it, stamped the sentiment and added some gems. Eh voila, a hybrid card.

Two of them to go in my pressie tins - they are mounting up now.

Hope you enjoy.
