Tag 8 for Funkie Junkie and Tim's November tag.

This is tag No: 8 for Linda’s 12 tags of Christmas and I have combined this with Tim’s November tag as well. I am still making my extended tags and love the extra length they give me.

My inspiration has come from both Linda and Tim. I have used the techniques Tim has shown and used Mario Junior’s fabulous toy soldier blueprint stamp. From Linda my inspiration has come from the fact that she also used part of Tim’s tag herself for inspiration, but I also loved the use of the red hessian and flower.

These photos were taken at different times of the day which is why they look different colours. You can see the tag before and after embellishing.

The layers of ink for this technique are fabulous and I love the emboss resist.

I hung little gold bells onto a swivel clasp, attached an eyelet and tied it with some ribbon.

The Poinsettia is a Crealies die, cut with distressed coredinations card.

Linda's 12 Tags of Christmas is an inspiration challenge and there will be a winner drawn at the end of the 12 weeks for those who have entered each one. There is plenty of time to take part as each tag challenge will remain open until the 17th December, so no excuses if you miss any. The sponsor is The Funkie Junkie Boutique, which is Linda's fantastic on-line store where she stocks lots of fabulous products to produce vintage, shabby chic projects.

I am catching up again with the tags for the challenge and loving making them. Thanks for looking and all your lovely comments on my work.

Take care.

PanPastels - Animals

Can you eat an elephant?

At PanPastelUK the theme this week is animals and I have made another of my extended tags, using Panpastels, stamps and masks to make the background and add the images.

This is my  second post for today and if you scroll down you will see a little Halloween box made for FSC.

I love the saying, it's quite funny, I remember using it at school when we were planning our next steps for development -
and that's what it means take one step at a time,
don't bite off more than you can chew.

Stamps are Tim Holtz and the brown pleated ribbon arrived during the week from Linda at The Funkie Junkie Boutique, other bits are from my supplies and the sentiment is computer generated.

The background was made in two layers using embossing ink with stamps and PPs, using glue stick with stamps and PPs and adding PPs through some sequin waste.

If you join us this week you could be in with a chance to win a PanPastel started set from Your Creativity Store, and remember you don't have to use PPs to participate.

Happy Sunday; have a great creative day.

Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas #5

So where have the last five weeks gone? Linda is on tag #5 and this is my fifth one too, with inspiration taken from the music background and emboss resist that Linda has used. From there on, mine is completely different, but without that spur looking at how Linda made hers I wouldn't have created this. Thanks for the creative nudge every week Linda, I am so enjoying this.

I have used a number of favourite things on here which makes this eligible for Simon Says Stamp and Show your favourites. For instance the DI colours I have used are weathered wood, vintage photo and walnut stain, I just love this colour combination. Also on my hit list are stamps by Tim (we just keep collecting them don't we?), Christmas papers from MME and downloaded vintage music paper. The other thing that is an absolute favourite and that I love making at the moment are my extended tags.

Hels at Sunday Stamper is asking for metal and I think the pin and bells will count here.
I seem to be using these little bells on most of my tags this year, mind you I do have an abundance of them.

Sugar Creek Hollow are looking for Sparkle and this can be seen on the sparkly embossing powder I used as well as on some of the paper snowflakes with sparkle pen used in their centres. I also used a Sakura sparkle pen round the edges of the tags.

Other embellishments are from my supplies plus a TH fragment.

Santa was stamped, coloured over with more ink and with a water brush then covered in embossing ink and clear EP to make him shine and pop more.

Did I say that I had been chosen as top pick for a swcond week running at Sugar Creek Hollow, I feel so chuffed and want to thank the girls for all their support.

Today is Friday Eve as I read on someone's blog recently, so have a great end to the week and a lovely weekend.

Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas #4

I am still following Linda's 12 tags of Christmas and keeping up, YAY.

This week Linda has given us a rustic, country styled tag and I am taking inspiration from
1) having a stamped background
2) I used the enamelled stamping technique which can be found on P.44 of Tim's Book 2 and
3) I used the tattered pinecone die which I have only just purchased.

I also want to play at Simon Says Stamp and Show where the challenge is RUST.

This piece also doubles for Crafty Individuals DT piece as I have used stamp plate CI - 169 and cut out the angel figures.

Apart from the above supplies I added a holly berry frame and some holly berry DP to make another of my extended tags, a little gold bell completes the Christmas touches.

I didn't have the vintage photo distress embossing powder so I mixed tattered rose, aged mahogany and brushed corduroy together and followed Tims recipe on P.45 of Book 1.

I had some lovely good news this week, my 'Fall into Fall' tag was chosen as a winner at Sugar Creek Hollow. How wonderful is that? Thanks girls for your votes of confidence in my work, I so appreciate it.

I hope your weekend is a good one. I am still helping to look after the youngest grandaughters as the eldest had a complication under anaesthetic this week which has set her back weeks. At the moment we don't know when she will be able to come home. She has alot of progress to make before that can happen.

Take care.

Funkie Junkie Tag 3

Hi All.

Today I would like to show you my tag #3 for Linda's 12 Tags of Christmas. I am doing quite well keeping up even though it’s not in the right week, but that doesn't matter. If you go take a look at Linda’s example you will see I have taken my inspiration from the colours, using brushed pewter distress stain and the marbled stain technique (see P46 of Tim's Book 2), using metal and stamping on acrylic packaging. The rest is mine lol.

Recipe
1. Background - marbled stains technique with brushed pewter, picket fence and weathered wood DSs.
2. Metal - alcohol inked with denim blue.

3. Deer - die-cut from reindeer flight in card covered with metal tape. Alcohol inked with denim, sailboat and silver finished with a light cover of white acrylic paint. Finished by edging it with a blue sharpie to make it stand out more.

4. Sentiment - stamped from mini holidays onto acetate packaging, cut out and dabbed with brushed pewter DS underneath.
5. Snowflakes – punched & dabbed with weathered wood DS, ice stickles added over the top.
6. White die-cut dabbed with weathered wood and picket fence DS.
Finished by making it into one of my extended tags using DP from MME.

Christmas tag for FJ no. 2

I have made my second Christmas tag for the Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas challenge, although it is for Linda's first challenge week - I'm just catching up. She has now posted her third one, so I still have one mare to catch up but not lagging behind too much lol.

I am also joining in with the other Linda at Studio L3 for the Compendium of Curiosities challenge which is to use distress markers. Tim has 2 techniques in his book on P.50, I used the second, adding my own take on it of course.

I drew inspiration from Linda's gorgeous tag wanting to use the metallic distress stains and the marbling technique as explained on P.46 of Tim’s fabulous book, ‘The Compendium of Curiosities’ – Book 2.

I used picket fence, tarnished brass and vintage photo to create the background then added some peeled paint DI before flicking with water and drying. Don't ya just love these gorgeous Christmas Blueprint stamps by Mario III?

Using coffee archival ink I stamped both the Christmas tree and snowflake from the set and stamped the Christmas tree a second time, colouring it in with the distress markers and cutting it out. I added the baubles to the tree instead of to the side. The die-cut letters are the typeset strip die covered with glossy accents, I filled in the baubles with this too.

Some other bits and pieces to finish off including pleated tissue tape covered with the tarnished brass DS. I also painted the metal pieces & tree bulb with the picket fence and tarnished brass DSs, drying them with the heat gun as they 'pooled'. Another look I really love.

I have to say I wasn't happy with the tree at first, it stood out far too much, so I also painted it with the picket fence and tarnished brass DIs, it now blends far better with the rest of the tag whilst still being quite prominent.

You can see I put some snow round the branches too.

Sadly I needed to make a sympathy card today. We had a phone call from Ken's sister on Friday to say her husband was in the Atkinson Morley hospital having had a huge brain bleed, he passed away Sunday afternoon.

Have a good week and as my friend Joyce says, make sure you give your loved ones a cuddle when you next see them.

Take care.

Autumn - Fall into Fall

I did a workshop yesterday for a lovely group of crafters that come regularly to my classes and we made a French themed canvas (I will post it in the week), very shabby chic in style. When I got home I was really fired up to make something vintage and pretty and had a few challenges in mind to enter.

Frilly and Funkie - Fall into Fall
Sugar Creek Hollow - Wings (bees and butterflies on my tag)
The Playdate Cafe - Wine, pumpkin, moss colours

So this is the result. I am really into extending my tags at the moment and have made 3 recently where I have added a DP mount, lengthening the tag, providing a frame for it and extra space for some embellishing and sentiments. I am going to call it my extended tag.

If you look closely you can see two honeycomb patterns, one was stamped the other a mask, I also stamped some plants and bees using Nature walk from SU.

The lace is from the Funkie Junkie Boutique and the words are computer generated.

I love the dimension of these flowers using the TH tattered flower garden die.

Have a great Sunday, it started beautifully sunny earlier but the wind has got up and the clouds have rolled in. Just hope it stays dry.

First Christmas piece for this year.

My second post for today. This tag was on my desk yesterday for WOYWW and as I said I needed to get it finished as I want to enter these challenges;
Simon Says Stamp and Show - For the love of sparkle.
(I've still got #1 to do but ordered some things so I can join in)
I have also made this for Crafty Individuals using stamp plate CI 136.

I used gold, cranberry and bottle alcohol inks on the metal riveted patchwork tag (this technique was my inspiration from Linda's fabulous tag) and red pepper on the metal star. I used stickles and treasure gold on the vintage Noel and have a glittered bauble; then taken the patchwork, and snowflakes as my inspiration from Linda.

I have used one of the mini snowflake rosettes from Tim's new dies.

I used prisma colours for the image but disappointed they didn't show up well on these photos, irl there is much more depth of colour on the faces and beard.

Linda's 12 Tags of Christmas is an inspiration challenge and there will be a winner drawn at the end of the 12 weeks as long as you enter each one. There is plenty of time to enter as each tag challenge will remain open until the 17th December, giving plenty of time to catch up if you miss any. The sponsor is The Funkie Junkie Boutique, which is Linda's fantastic on-line store where she stocks lots of fabulous products to produce vintage, shabby chic projects. So let's see if I can get all 12 made this year.

The sun is shining here although the clouds are rolling in. Maddison had her first full day at school yesterday so I no longer have to pick her up at lunchtime, but I miss her already.

Hope your day is going well.

Halloween - bloody, skull moon

Had to have a play with some Halloween bits.

Background made with smooching and dipping dark DI's. Stamped with crackle stamp and black archival ink. Dipped again in festive berries and ripe persimmon mixed with cosmic shimmer mists. Ribbon dyed with same colours.

Embellished with - a blood moon with skull (moon made with vintage optometrist lens), cobwebbed cat and spiked railings.

For some reason the photos look blurred to me today, I will try them again later.

Go wherever your creativity takes you.
