Easter Bunny cards for Country View Crafts with Tim Holtz dies

Fun with Hippity Hop dies

April's challenge at CVC FB Challenge page is

Easter - Eggs, Chicks or Bunnies

I chose these gorgeous bunnies and had fun with them. The rabbits were cut from a previously dipped piece of media paper and cut using the vault hippity hop dies. I used distress inks to give a suggestion of clothes and die cut the bows and butterflies for decoration.

The background was made using the scallop stencil with the dry watercolour pencils and stencil and the monoprinting technique. I also had some lightly dipped and splattered card that I cut for the panel and I added some stencilling.

Finally I put the cards together using 49&Market papers and snippets.

Stencil monoprint and stamping

Happy Easter

I did a workshop at Grayshott yesterday with an amazing group of ladies including Lois, Karen and Dominique.

They wanted to focus on distress ink techniques and create a tag book. We explored 9 techniques and ended up with 11 backgrounds. I came home with my sample book collection plus 32 more panels/tags so I want to use some of them to create some cards. This is the first.

The background which is a stencil monoprint with stamping through the stencil.

The elements. I collected bits together from my collage envelopes and some extra snippets.

A huge thank you to all the ladies who made it such a fun and enjoyable day. I definitely will be back to Grayshot to enjoy your company again.

Poppies Edition - Condolences card

A condolences card needed for a lovely crafty friend

Stamp the poppy with aged mahogany, dry it then using waterbrush pull the colour from the edges through the petals.

Whilst wet add some fired brick with a watercolour brush.

Draw the leaves through the stencil and watercolour using the green distress inks.

Use a fine black pen to outline and create form, detail and depth to the image.

Stamp the flower onto masking paper, and trace through for the leaves. Once added to the card splatter both the red and green inks.

Lastly stamp the words and add them to the card.

Thinking of you Gayna. 💔 xxx

Frostie the Snowman Tim Holtz

Last Christmas card for 2025

Stamp Mr Frostie with distress archival onto printed paper.

Fussy cut the image.

Paint snowman, face and nose with a mix of decoupage and white chalky finish paint to seal the paper and dry.

Then add a weak wash of blue distress ink to give him that cold look.

Paint the nose  with Rusty Hinge and paint the Scarf with Festive Berries.

Seal the Background paper with decou-page and dry. This helps the distress inks move around somewhat rather than soak immediately into the paper.

Use a brayer and add some white paint to the background to start to tone it down,

The depth of the whiteness with the brayer wasn't enough so I made a watery wash with the white paint and dipped and splodged some over the top.

Next take some vellum and the branches from the stamp set.

Make them look like trees. Stamp with the distress archival again.

Now to add details and put the card together.
Die-cut greenery and add some to the background.

Use a brown drawing pen to add depth, structure and more detail to the trees.

Plan where Mr Frostie and more greenery will go.

Stamp the sentiment directly onto the vellum.

Dip leaves and berries pieces into a tub of Snow-tex and leave to dry and use a white posca pen to create the look of snow on the tree branches. Glue pieces down and add extra snowtex.

Flowers CVC March #1

 Floral Outlines with pressed grasses

A card for the Country View Crafts Challenge for March. Combining both Tim Holtz and Alson Bomber stamps was a dream. They both design stamp sets that I love but for different reasons. Tim has vintage and natural images and Alison uses her own drawings and sketches of nature and botanicals etc for her sets.

Take card, paint over a layer of white paint, leave to dry.  Dip in puddles of green and pink distress inks to create a lightly coloured distress background.

Use the grass stamp to create more depth for the focal point.

On another piece of card stamp the floral outline in brown distress ink and watercolour with distress inks.            Cut around the image.

Stamp the words on white card with archival ink and dabble some inks around the words.

Put the card together.

Here I ran into a time consuming problem.I wanted to add more to the stamped images.

I first diecut some white leaves, blended with the green inks randomly over them but they didn't look right, I stamped and fussy cut some of the pressed grasses stamps, I wasn't happy with those either so I stamped the floral outline twice more and watercoloured them and cut off some of the leaves and buds - so much better.

Quick Valentine cards

 Inspired by Tim Holtz

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

These are some simple Valentines cards to go with the frames I have been making for the grandchildren (plus one for hubby as well). I was inspired by the Tim Holtz Valentine Live and his beautiful cards. These are very different to his but the design is the same.

All of them were made with backgrounds cut from left over bits from other projects, splattered with white paint.

There's a banner of embossed vellum paper and then the stamped love token by Tim Holtz.
