Journalling for Success #3 and #4

I had a wonderful day on Saturday at Pickwell Farm teaching a new workshop which was a follow up to one I did earlier in the year. This was the the last in the series exploring texture, colour and  how to meld napkin images seamlessly onto your pages using a mixed media style and also how to use white space to create a more open and less busy page.

These are the pages using napkin images where I tried to recreate the feel of the sea ....

... and here the pages that leave white space as part of the overall design which people said they had the most problem with.

Here are some of the pages created by the fabulous group, sadly I can't find the list I made to tell me which ones belonged to who but in attendance, Becky, Val, Corrine, David, Pam, Di and Helena such a shame that three cancelled at the last minute.

With apologies for the photo quality, they were all taken quickly on the phone and no time to lay them out and line them up nicely but I think you will agree they still did a magnificent job.

Thanks for stopping by. I will be back soon.

Page 2 for Journaling Recipe 1

We had an amazing day at Pickwell farm on Saturday with 12 lovely ladies who came to see what my recipes for journalling are all about - in fact they enjoyed it so much we have put a date in for June to do recipes 3 and 4. How cool is that?
So today I thought I would show you some of the photos of finished pages done by the participants and also my page 2 using exactly the same recipe as the first pages I created which you can see HERE. Would you believe exactly the same steps but different choices for each one = deeper colours and a more vintage feel to it.

And these are some of the participants finished pages from the morning session - sadly not all of the photos were sharp enough to use but this certainly gives a flavour of their work and I was astounded at the fabulous outcomes. Well done everyone.

Thanks for stopping by today and taking a peek at what I have been up to.

I'll be back Friday with an AVJ Tag Friday sample.

Journaling Recipe 1

Happy Friday everyone, the weekend starts here - yay. I really looking forward to tomorrow when I am teaching two of my 'Recipes for Success', so of course I can't share them with you but I thought I would share some photos of what the group will see and from the process steps I created, I can't wait to see how they achieve their own versions. These two pages use mostly products from the DecoArt media range which are sold at Pickwell Farm.

If you look into the depths of the layers you can see some music paper, text paper and washi tapes.....

.... and more into the middle layers some stamping and stencilling ......

..... and then on the surface you can see I used paints, pens and gesso.

I know for me I often get 'caught' in the twilight zone, not sure what to do or how to start something and recipes can often help kick start me and invite Mr Mojo to return. Often I will only do the first two or three steps and once I have sparked the creative light inside me I don't need them any more I just take myself off into lots of different directions and follow my muse.

I have a second of my own recipe 1 versions to share with you soon and it is completely different, so ........

..... until the next time happy creating.

Memories Box at Pickwell Farm

Saturday saw me teaching a memories box at Pickwell Farm and what a fabulous day we had. Eight lovely ladies attended and who worked so hard to create a book style box from scratch, they did so well with the measuring and construction that we actually finished a bit early. They were pleased as it gave them more time to shop for crafty goods.

This is my latest version of the box starting with the front when it is closed.

The inside with the secret box and a pouch for adding other memorabilia.

Inside again with the flaps of the secret box open to reveal the photos or treasures being stored inside it. I found some copies of old photos of some of the family but I will dedicate this box to my Mum and Dad and put bits in I have of theirs.

The outside showing front, back, sides and front flap. I used Tim Holtz dies and papers to provide the embellishing

Standing slightly open.

Now for some of the workshop photos.

Helena and Maggie.

The long table with Di and Becky this end.

Denice, Pam and Di along the left side .....

... and this time you can see Val too.

Becky. Maggie, Helena and Jackie along the other side .....

... and a close up of Jackie totally involved in her papers and getting them the right size.

And Val too.

Di has got her book box made and is embellishing now.

Here are the finished projects with their names on. They each had a bag of the stamped images and diecuts I had used and they had choices to make regards the papers and other embellishments available in the workroom.

Wow aren't they amazingly different and reflect each of their individual styles. Well done everyone.

Update Di has just sent me a photo of hers now finished.

And somehow Helena's got missed off so here is that one too.

My thanks to Carolyn for the invitation and also to this fabulous group, Jackie, Helena, Maggie, Becky, Di, Pam, Denice and Val for such a great day.

My next workshop at this venue will be in January 2016 - yikes another new year.

Thanks for staying to the end.
