Back from Ash Cave

Ash cave is like a little Disney Land. You park your car, walk for a while, see tons of people, and finally, you arrive at what everyone came for. This is quite a place, and for some reason, having half a county there almost makes it more spectacular. Megan, Weston and I made a quick trip to visit friends as they were spending the weekend in a cabin in the famous Hocking Hills region of Ohio. For our afternoon excursion, we ventured to Ash Cave, part of Hocking Hills State Park. The HH region is a mecca for central Ohioans- it is so popular that I typically stay away during busy weekends, but we had a very nice time, and so many people added to the excitement.

A few more Birds from Dillon Lake

I'm not a serious birder, but I do enjoy bird watching while I'm out looking at Ohio's natural areas. I came across a few interesting things at Dillon Lake State Park that I need help with.

A pair of Common Goldeneyes?

A distant horned grebe?

A juvenile red-tailed hawk?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Alum Creek State Park Beach

This afternoon, Megan and I went to Alum Creek State Park Beach. It turned out to be an interesting experience. Megan noted how many different languages she was hearing, I noted the muddy water and plethora of personal watercraft, and we were both a bit bewildered by all the emergency vehicles around, not to mention the several times lifeguards went into the water screaming. Anyways, this was quite strange, and through it all, I managed do do a little drawing of our "reservoir-side" (opposed to lakeside) view.
