FANCY FOLDS FRIDAY, Graduation Day Cap Fold & Punch Art...

My youngest daughter graduated from college tonight and this is the card I made for her.  I cased the fold from Dawn Olechefske.and then used Colleen's favorite colors - red & black for the card.  For the tassels, I just frayed or "shredded" grosgrain ribbon.

This is what you see when you open the card up.  Of course, I had to include a little punch art with this wise little owl in his cap & gown!  To pump up his eyes, I added Crystal Effects to the black circles.

Here is a picture of the graduation girl!

GRADUATION CAP FOLD DIRECTIONS:
1.  Cut Basic Black Card Stock to 4-1/4" x 9-3/4".  In the landscape position, score the card @ 5.5".
2.  Place your card on your Stampin' Up! Grid with the fold at the left and the shorter front facing up.
3.  On each side of the card, make a pencil mark 2-1/8" from the fold.
4.  Turn the card over and repeat the pencil marks on each side.
5.  Open the card up and mark the center point (2-1/8") of the top edge (short side) of the card.
6.  With the scoring blade on your paper trimmer, or your Simple Scored Board, score diagonally from the upper left side pencil mark to the lower right side pencil mark.
7.  Now score diagonally from the upper right pencil mark to the lower left pencil mark.  This will form an X with the center on the fold line.  Fold on the diagonal score lines.
8.  With your paper trimmer, cut from the mark made earlier on the top edge of the card (short side) diagonally to the top of your right score line (2-1/8" as marked).  Repeat on the other side.  Erase any remaining pencil lines.
9.  Fold the sides of the cap in towards the center.  You are finished!  Decorate as desired.

CREATIVE CREW, Graduation Scrapbook Page...

Today I have my entry for the Scrapbooking Challenge for June's Creative Crew Challenges to share with you.  Here are the details of the challenge:

CCREW0611SF, CreativeCrew, SUO or SUM - SB Inspiration Focus: *Scrapbooking Poems * This month your mission is to incorporate a poem into your SB project. I've included a link to some poems that work well with scrapping.

Although the general theme this month was weddings, I decided to use a graduation theme for mine as June is a popular month for graduations also.  This page is for my husband, Michael, who graduated from Old Dominion University last year.  I was so proud of him!  It was a lot of work while working full time plus lots of business travel.  The main picture is a recreation of the little dance he did coming down the stairs from the stage.  It was hilarious!

I chose the poem "G R A D U A T E" from an unknown artist at the scrapbooking poems link above.  It fit on this page well.  There aren't too many elements on this page and all except for the Glitter Brads are included in the My Digital Software program.  It was very quick to put together.  Enjoy!

MIKE'S ODU GRAD SCRAPBOOK PAGE DOWNLOADS LIST:
  • Digital Downloads – Textured, Torn Edges, Glitter Brads
  • Colors – Not Quite Navy, Going Gray, Whisper White

MICHAEL GRADUATES!!!...

This post was originally scheduled for May 8, but apparently I hit Save Now instead of Publish.  I just found it along with a couple of others in my "Drafts", so I am publishing them now.  Sorry!

Today was my hubby's graduation from Old Dominion University.  It has been a long time coming!  Michael originally began college 30 years ago, but then went into the Navy.  He took a few classes here or there when on shore duty over the next 20 years, but wasn't able to begin in earnest until he retired 10 years ago.  Since then he has been taking two classes a semester along with working full time and plenty of work travel.  It has been a long haul, but the day was finally here!  I am so proud of him!  He was so happy he actually did a little dance down the stairs from the stage!  Here is a picture of him replicating his dance for the camera - and yes, that is exactly how he did it - hilarious!

His was thrilled that his parents were able to make it down for his graduation.  Here is a picture of them with Michael...

This is the graduation card I made for him.  It was inspired by the Go,Graduate sample in the Summer Mini.  Between the front and inside, I managed to use every stamp, but one.  The "time to get a job" doesn't apply for him!  :o)  I also used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder from the Summer Mini as well.   For the banner, I curled the paper with a pencil and then adhered some spots right to the card front and raised other spots with a double layer of stampin' dimensionals to give the "unfurling" or waving look.  The pennant is rolled on half of a toothpick that was dyed with Classic Reinker.  Enjoy!
