Pressed Petals in a ShoeBox

One of my favourite events of the whole year was on over the weekend - my team Stamp Camp Retreat. I've been running these since 2009 (!!!). There were 36 of us this year and we had a whole lot of laughing, crafting...and not much sleeping!

This was my ShoeBox Swap. We had 10 Shoebox Swaps for everyone to make over the course of the weekend. All the ingredients for making a card are included in each box, including pre-cut cardstock. It's great to be able to sit down and make 10 cards without having to think/plan/design. All the hard work is done for you!

I used products rom the Pressed Petals Suite for my card - Washi tape, Designer Series Paper and Floral Centers. Can you believe that realistic looking flower is made from Washi Tape? The individual petals are on a roll, and you simply peel them off to make a flower.

TIP: I like to adhere mine to a 1/2" circle, and then use an embossing buddy to 'un-sticky' the petals. I popped a floral centre in the middle, coloured with Blends.

You can see all the other products I used listed below. Thanks for visiting!

Beautiful Friendship Thanks

I made a batch of these cards for my customer thank you cards last month. I've had a super busy month, so I needed a quick and simple design. I reached immediately for my Beautiful Friendship set, chose a pretty piece of Designer Series Paper, and the rest just happened. My colour combo is Coastal Cabana, Purple Posy, Highland Heather, Old Olive and So Saffron.

Here's a nifty tip - I cut my DSP pieces slightly too narrow, and they were a bit hidden under the nested label. Rather than waste them, I cut them into thirds and spaced them apart.

And another tip: I wanted a small piece of ribbon under the sentiment, but didn't have any in So Saffron. Instead, I pulled out my Ribbon Border Punch and let just a small amount peek out under the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

Graceful Glass

Although it doesn't look like it, there's barely any stamping on this card. The beautiful stained glass panel is part of the 6"x6" Graceful Glass Vellum. I have coloured the reverse side with markers. The result is soft and pretty. To make the colours really glow, I adhered the panel to a piece of Whisper White cardstock.
TIP: so that the adhesive doesn't show, lightly sponge the glue onto the Whisper White cardstock, and then place the vellum on top and smooth it on gently.
The only stamping on this card is the sentiment, from the Painted Glass stamp set.
The colours I've used here are Lovely Lipstick, Pineapple Punch and Basic Black.

Tickled Pink Piggy

It's always fun when you discover that a sentiment designed for one stamp set (flamingos) works equally well for another (piggies!). I couldn't resist making a card combining the two.
TIP: I made my own faux-embossed cloud background by adhering white cloud diecut shapes to a white piece of cardstock and then running it through the BigShot.
I watercoloured my little piggy using ink and an aqua painter. The Fresh Florals paper adds a splash of soft Powder Pink to the bottom half of my card, and I've finished it off with some Soft Sky Classic Weave ribbon.
I think this piggy does indeed look 'tickled pink'!

Ribbon of Courage Colouring Kit

Today I have another Ribbon of Courage project to show you. This was also part of my Stamping Presentation back in April.

For this project, I decided to make a set of notecards to give as a gift. Rather than fully completing these cards, I’ve made this a DIY Kit. This set fits inside one of our Cellophane Bags, so that they can be popped into a handbag and taken anywhere. The backing material from our Specialty DSP packs makes a nice sturdy board (cut to 5”x7”) and I’ve used some elastic to hold everything in place. I’ve just stamped the notecards in black ink and included a few mini coloured pencils. As we all know, colouring is great therapy. After the cards have been coloured, they can be given away, perhaps as a thank you for a meal that was provided or a ‘thinking of you’ for a friend going through a difficult time. I’ve decorated the topper to hold the bag closed.

TIP: I’ve applied Tear & Tape to the back, to hold the topper in place. For the front, I’ve applied 3 dots of Multipurpose Glue and let them dry for a few hours. This means that the bag can be opened and re-sealed without having to rip off the topper.

Birthday Poodle

I have a quick and simple card to share today. I just love this poodle image from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper, and had to give it pride of place on a card.

You can find the same image in the Birthday Delivery stamp set, along with some other very cute images. The words on this card are from the same set. There are co-ordinating framelits too, and they cut out images from both the stamp set AND the Designer Series Paper!

I've used the Pretty Label punch to frame my words, and just snipped off the top and bottom 'humps' to make it slightly smaller and fit my words better.

TIP: My poodle has been popped up using Foam Adhesive strips - these work really well for thin areas, and they have a little more height than Dimensionals.
