Single At 10

It's not just the 10th anniversary of Werner Herzog's movie about a man who murdered his mother with a samurai sword starring Michael Shannon -- no as that kiss gif above says better than any words I could muster it's also the 10th anniversary of Tom Ford's swooningly stylish and somber A Single Man. I'm actually a little surprised to see that this movie didn't crack my Top 20 of 2009, as I liked it at the time and have grown to like it even more over the past decade... 2009 was an extremely good year at the movies though, so I guess that's my excuse. It was probably right outside the list. Anyway I celebrated this anniversary with a thread of photos and gifs on Twitter a bit ago, if you'd like to check that out. How do you guys feel about this movie? Empty style or stylish substance?

Do you guys watch The Flash? I don't, but I have heard decent things. The whole DC TV-verse intimidates me (there's too much and I haven't seen any of it) so I probably wont start any time soon but I'd love to hear your thoughts. Anyway we love Teddy Sears thanks to Masters of Sex and it's his birthday today so we're taking these pictures of him and his Flash co-star Grant Gustin in tuxes (via Teddy's Instagram) and facing them off!

A happy 38 to the glorious golden boy Teddy Sears today - this is indeed our second big post like this for Teddy; you can click right here for the first one, which we did in August of last year right in the middle of the second season of Masters of Sex.

All I was trying to find was Teddy's naked scene in American Horror Story to use for this morning's post, but the video of that proved strangely difficult to aqcuire (although I did, as you'll see in a bit) and while looking I found all these new-ish photos of Teddy, and here we are. Gratuitous Teddy Sears

Lizzy Caplan, Beau Bridges and Allison Janney might get all the Emmy love, and Michael Sheen might get all the articles written about how he deserved some of the Emmy love too, but it need not be forgotten that these folks are surrounded wall to wall with terrific performances... and the most surprisingly great work might just be coming from Teddy Sears. I was thinking about this while watching this week's episode last night, which gave him a little bit of a showcase and didn't even require him to take his clothes off for it this time.

Okay he ran around in a well-fit pair of pajamas for a bit, that I appreciated, but besides that he got to show us all sorts of shades to his caddish Dr. Austin Langham that he hadn't quite gotten to show us yet, and frankly Teddy is nailing the heck out of it. His scene with Sheen smoking that cigar was funny, sly, and terribly sad all at once. I love spending time with all of the characters on Masters of Sex, so it says a lot that I always look forward to Teddy's scenes, and it says even more that I'm talking about one right now that didn't even involve him having an orgasm for a change. Good work, Teddy!

As you'll see below, Teddy's six-feet-three-inches has been exploited to its fullest for years on shows like Ugly Betty and Dollhouse and American Horror Story, so it's nice (albeit kinda galling) to know he's actually talented while also looking like he looks.
