Good Morning, World

An itty bitty gift to us Charlie Cox lovers on this week's episode of Daredevil Reborn -- itty bitty indeed since we barely see Charlie from the shoulders down. But why show a beautiful man undressed when you can luxuriate in extremely gory fight scenes instead? And being a lover of gore I normally wouldn't bring up that old (but not baseless!) "Sex vs Violence in American Entertainment" argument, but since this is Disney we're talking about now (instead of Daredevil's old home of Netflix) and they seem to've embraced Daredevil's violence to a surprisingly notable degree, I do feel this warrants a mention.

Not that there isn't real heat between Charlie and Margarita Levieva when she sneaks into this shower with him moments after these gifs. The two actors have pretty scorching chemistry. Let's just be honest -- I just wanna see Charlie's butt dammit. I don't think that's too much to ask when I'm also being treated to a serial killer's lair where a bunch of dead women's bodies are hanging from meat hooks. Remind us what we're fighting for! All of the good in the world! In this instance represented by Charlie Cox's butt! Okay I'll step down off my soapbox. Unless you need some extra lather, Charlie...

Alexander Skarsgard Gets Lisa P'd Upon

.
Ahhh look at those two! I know she's dating Sebastian Stan (poor thing) but I still kinda love the way these two look together. Who am I kidding -- I like the way they look apart, together, I just like to look. So did any of you guys get the chance to see The Diary of a Teenage Girl this weekend? I know it only opened in a handful of theaters so if you ain't in a big coastal town you're outta luck for another week or two or whatever... but I imagine some of you people aren't dairy farmers. I seriously considered seeing it a second time but other plans happened -- I did however finally start reading Phoebe Gloeckner's book, upon which the film's based, and so far it's a delight (even if I can't help but picture Alexander Skarsgard and Bel Powley and Kristen Wiig cet cetera in all the parts). Tell me what you thought of the movie if/when you see it anyway, and here's my review if you missed it. In summation, here's a picture of Alex that's found its way online of him in the middle of getting made up as a drag queen, which we saw last week.

The Gratuitous Skarsgard Bait & Switch

.
My boyfriend threatened me with emotional violence (I am blinking once for yes he's right behind the door) if I didn't mention, and mention often, how INCREDIBLE our favorite Lisa P (aka the actress Margarita Levieva) looks in The Diary of a Teenage Girl - well I didn't mention it in my review yesterday and I still feel like I can't really for real talk about it now because there are literally zero pictures of her in the movie on the internet as of this moment. Literally zero! There are however a few pictures of Alexander Skarsgard on the movie's set wearing a pair of period-appropriate jogging shorts that caught my eye, so I'll post those instead. I think it's a win.

I will eventually be capping SO MUCH from this movie, you guys.
Just wait and see. JUST WAIT AND SEE.

Alex Makes Me Feel Like A Teenage Girl

.
The New Directors New Films festival, which is an annual co-presentation between the Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Museum of Modern Art here in New York and showcases... new films from new(ish) filmmakers, kicks off tonight with the much-lauded-in-Sundance The Diary of a Teenage Girl, starring Alexander Skarsgard and Kristen Wiig and newcomer Bel Powley as the titular teenage girl. It's based on a book by graphic novelist Phoebe Gloeckner, which I've been meaning to read for so long that it's shameful - guess I'm seeing the movie first!

One of my best friends who was at Sundance couldn't stop raving about the film, and thought particularly it'd be up my alley, so I'm pretty excited for this one. Actually looking at the cast list I am reminded that besides the already awesome folks I named above the movie also co-stars Christopher Meloni and Margarita "Lisa P" Levieva! Gimme gimme gimme.

Back To The Boys Club

.
It's been awhile since we heard anything about this movie (save some whispers that it's godawful); we posted about the US remake of the Belgian thriller The Loft, starring an abbreviated who's who of my manly fantasies (namely James Marsden, Karl Urban, Wentworth Miller, and Matthias Schoenaerts, the latter of whom's reprising his role from the original flick), way back in August of 2012 and noted at the time that we'd been hearing about it for quite some time before that. Anyway somebody decided to dust it off and drop it in January, and now there's a new trailer... and new trailer with the Best Money-Shot Ever! Okay second-best, given that with this movie's cast "Best Money-Shit Ever" could go to "All the male leads having an orgy" and we don't quite get that... but we do get...

... Margarita "Lisa P"  Levieva  exuberantly flinging keys in my boy Matty's face and swirling around with smirking vigor! And that brings me much, much, much, much, much joy. So I'll totally go ahead and post the new trailer just for that.

SkarsWiig

.
Also playing at Sundance (see previous post) is The Diary of a Teenage Girl, an adaptation of Phoebe Gloeckner's book which will star four of my favorite folks - above you can see Alexander Skarsgard and Kristen Wiig giving us incredible 70s swankness, but also in the cast are Chris Meloni and Margarita "Lisa P" Levieva. Look at Alex rocking that stache!

All Hail Queen Victoria

.
The first season of the sudsy Long Island socialite TV drama Revenge is out on DVD today, so y'all can catch up with us hep cats who've already plowed through the whole thing, or if you're a hep cat who already plowed through you can plow through all over again, whatever. Point being, this show's a hoot and a holler and I'm jonesing for the second season right hard. (The plane! The plane!) Here's a "bonus scene" off of the DVD featuring my beloved Margarita "Lisa P" Levieva...

I'd Like A Key For This Loft Please

.
It seems utterly beyond reason, completely unfathomable, that I've never posted on this movie until now, but here we are. Day late, dollar short. The movie of which I speak (now, not earlier, to my shame) is called Loft, and I will now list the people who star in Loft, and you will see why it's crazy I have never spoken of Loft: James Marsden, Karl Urban, Matthias Schoenarts, Wentworth Miller, and Margarita "Lisa P" Levieva. (There are a couple other people but these are the ones I care about.) OH MY GOD I KNOW. Just those first three alone are enough to make my brain explode but you add on Lisa P. and I am foaming at the mouth.

The film sounds like a mash-up of The Apartment with Very Bad Things - some guys share a loft space to use for mistress-humping, and when a dead chick turns up inside all bets are off!

Anyway it's a remake of a 2008 Belgian film that also starred Matthias Schoenarts, in the exact same role he's got here even. Anybody seen it? I need to know if I should see it first, or wait, or what. I feel like the Belgian one won't shy away from male nudity while this here Hollywood one might. Although judging from the trailer, perhaps I'm being quick to judge. Yup, there's a trailer, a NSFW one at that (via), which is what inspired this post...

And a quartet of promising caps from the trailer...

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Photobucket

James: How's the wine?
Lisa P: [sniffs the glass] It's good!

Happy 32, Margarita Levieva!
Lisa P is one for the ages.

I Am Link

.
--- Getting High - JJ has a gallery of new pics from Your Highness, David Gordon Green's Ye Olde Pot Comedy with James Franco and Natalie Portman and Danny McBride and Justin Theroux, of whom that shot to the left is of, and verily is hysterical. If you closed your eyes and imagined what Ian McKellen saw when he smoked too much of that fine hobbit leaf while filming the Lord of the Rings movies... it would look nothing like that at all. I don't know. There's a panel on the film at ComiCon this weekend that I'm hoping to make it into, so perhaps I'll hear something worth sharing there.

--- Soul Struck - I'm avoiding spoilers so I only skimmed BD's review of Wes Craven's My Soul To Take, which is out today, but they grabbed my attention with lines like this:

"[I]t's like an Elephant Man of a film. It's so sick, twisted and deformed that it's impossible to take your eyes off the screen. You can't possibly guess what happens next, nor will you ever be able to figure out the finale... don' even try. Yet, it's hard to sit here and tell you not to see this film, strangely because it's either the most brilliant thing ever made or the most retarded."

Well now I have to see it.

--- Goodbye, Lisa P - No reason's given why they've made the switch but Margarita Levieva, who played the spectacular carnival seductress Lisa P in Adventureland and stole all of our hearts with her smooth gypsy slide, has had her role in ATM, the next thriller-in-an-enclosed-space by the director of Buried, snatched away by that harlot Alice Eve. Tramp! Let's pelt her with eggs until she goes away! How dare she.

--- He Will Never Learn - Darren Aronofsky is once again talking about making a movie with Brad Pitt. It's never gonna work, Darren! Why do you keep letting him put the football in front of you, just to have him yank it away at the last second? I get that Brad's abs are super shiny and distracting, but there are lots of shiny abs in Hollywood, you don't have to have those specific ones.

--- Her Name Is Noomi - She lives upstairs from you. I think you might have seen her before. Wha? Ahem. That chick that kicked a hornet's nest and raped a dude with a giant dildo might be the next Not Ripley in the new Alien movie, says Deadline. That was a very odd sentence I just wrote. Let's just move on, I'm losing my grip here...

I Turn Away Just When You Want Me

Kristen Bell plus Yeasayer plus creepy spore-monster
equals a cackle of rads a wealth of awesomeness. (via)
.

.
Seriously though this is my fave song off of their album, give or take
an "Ampling Alp" or a "ONE" - otherwise known as the Lisa P song -
how kick-ass that Bell's starring in the video is it? Very.)

I Am Link

.
--- Tank To Tattoo - Katie Jarvis, so terrific her very first time out in Andrea Arnold's Fish Tank, has apparently had her name thrown into contention for Lisbeth Salander in the Dragon Tattoo movies with David Fincher. I approve! If only because I don't want Katie to go away. I like her, and I like that she reminds me of a sinisterly thrusting Michael Fassbender, and I don't want that to ever go away. Seriously though, Katie's awesome.

Word is that Fincher's got his eye on Rooney Mara though, who played Nancy in the reboot of Nightmare on Elm Street - I seem to remember that I didn't dislike her as much as a lot of people seemed to at the time, but I'll be damned if I can recall anything about that movie now - and has some role in his Facebook movie.

--- Back Away - Glad to see that Sam Mendes' Away We Go - my 14th favorite film of 2009; my original review here - hasn't been forgotten and is getting a lot of play on the cable channels - Joe talked up his increasing affection for the movie over at Low Res. I haven't seen it again since it came out on DVD, perhaps it's time for a re-visitation. Krasinski and Rudolph forever.

--- Seattle's Revenge - I have never seen any of Frances Farmer's films nor have I seen Jessica Lange's supposed-to-be brilliant performance as the actress in her supposed-to-be misshapen biopic, but that didn't stop me from tearing through Sunset Gun's piece on both. Gotta finally watch Frances, I do.

--- She Better Work - Margarita Levieva, better known as the glorious Lisa P in Adventureland, has a cool new job! Yay! She's one-third of a terrorized group of folks who get terrorized by some maniac while trying to get money late-night from an ATM. The movie is called... dun dun dun... ATM. The other two are Josh Peck and Brian Geraghty, both good actors.

--- Holiday Bird - Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan is out (limited) on December 1st, which isn't soon enough dang it! I'll say it again for the fifteenth time - it'd better play the New York Film Festival. Oh and James Franco's 127 Hours is out on November 5th. Hooray for getting trapped under a rock and cutting off your own arm! At least if you look like James Franco. Then it's awesome.

--- Losing Faith In Life - Meanwhile nobody knows when Terrence Malick is ever gonna finish editing Tree of Life, if ever. Still.

--- And finally, I love this UK poster for Piranha 3D. (via) Why isn't this movie out yet dammit? August 20th seems forever away. Anyway, mark my words - I think this movie's gonna be a big hit. It just looks like a blast and it's perfect timing. We're all kind of hating Summer at this point and it's got that vibe.

It Feels Like Being Tranquilized

.
I raved about Yeasayer's latest album Odd Blood awhile back on me Twitter, and now that there's finally a video for the peppiest tune off of it (via), called "ONE," I can share the fact that every single time I listen to this song I close my eyes and have visions of my beloved Lisa P from Adventureland. They really should've just saved their money and had Margarita Levieva do her crotch-boob-swirl dance for four minutes. Oh well. This isn't bad, per se. It's no Lisa P. though. (Nothing is.)

Lisa P, Tilt-A-Whirl Girl Of My Dreams

.

I enjoyed Adventureland, although I don't know that it'll stick with me for very long. I did appreciate the way it kept its characters from becoming caricatures and it had a nice laid-back easy-going vibe, which I appreciate in a world of films that are constantly punching you in the face. But mostly... eh. I'm decidedly on Team Superbad in the Greg Mottola movie-verse.

But then there's Lisa P. Lisa P!

You go, girl! She cabbage-patched her way into my soul.
