Good Morning, World

Happy almost holiday! Tomorrow is July 4th, meaning us loons here in the States deep-throat hot dogs to spite the Brits, or whatever -- and what better way to celebrate than by ogling a Brit whose hot dog... well you get the gist. These first few gifs aren't showing his face (in case you didn't notice that) but the ample bum you're seeing here is the ample bum of British actor Edward Bluemel...

... who you might remember from his stint of being adorable on Killing Eve -- I've posted about him a couple of times previously anyway, check those here. And the show these are from is called My Lady Jane which is on Prime and which appears to me to be an period romantic-comedy type thing that's attempting to ride the Birdgerton train -- is that right? Have I got it? Anyway yes it's really rather shocking that I'm giffing up this scene from the series before...

... I gif up the scene where Dominic Cooper (who is also on the show) gets his beautiful and long-time MNPP-beloved arse spanked. But sometimes you want to save things for a day when you really need them. Today what I need is Eddy Bluemel reenacting the scene of Nicholas Clay outdoor-showering in Lady Chatterly's Lover -- granted this one's not quite as explicit as that one, but what could be? Honestly only literal pornography could be, since that scene is so legendarily over-the-top. And it would be cruel to ask anyone to compete with Nicholas Clay anyway. But do hit the jump for more of Mr. Bluemel doing his part anyway...

Christian Cooke One Time

I haven't had the opportunity to see Christian Cooke in anything in too long a time (and yes that means I still haven't watched the western series That Dirty Black Bag that he co-starred in with my boy Dominic Cooper a couple of years ago, shame on me) but that will clearly change soon, as he's just co-starred in the gay policeman drama Plainclothes opposite Russell Tovey and Tom Blyth. I told you about this previously (of course I did) a few weeks back -- the entire movie has shot already, which I know because it shot in Syracuse near where I grew up and so I kept tabs on that in case its shoot overlapped with my trip upstate for the eclipse (it did not). Anyway the photo above (via, click to embiggen, thx Mac) is an excellent reminder that Christian Cooke should always, always be in front of me (or behind me, I am not picky) and I am real glad we'll be rendezvousing again shortly. Bring it on, Plainclothes! And in related news:

Good Morning, World

You know how you felt that first time after March 2020 when you finally saw a loved one again -- a parent or a good friend -- and were able to hug them for the first time in awhile? That's how I feel looking at these snaps of Dominic Cooper at the beach (via) -- warm and fuzzy and reunited with an old friend. Especially the one directly below. That one specifically is my old best friend, and I missed him so. Hit the jump for the whole batch...

Pics of the Day

In April of last year I told y'all about a show called The Gold that was being made that would have amongst its cast the MNPP ultra-threesome of Dominic Cooper, Jack Lowden, and Tom Cullen -- huz-fuckin-zah, man. Well today the first photos from the show have arrived (thanks to Emma for the heads up) and could it be??? Is that Tom Cullen in a speedo??? It is, it is! Reminds me of the time Dominic Cooper starred in The Devil's Double and rocked a speedo, so let me refresh your memories on that...

... not that I think anybody who'd seen that at the time has forgotten it. But I could honestly post a refresher of that every single day and I doubt I'd get a single complaint. (See more here, in fact.) Anyway this show just became Must See TV. What is it about, you ask? That matters, I ask back? Fine fine, it's about the true story of an enormous bank robbery in 1983 yadda yadda criminals and coppers and whatnot. It his the BBC "soon" is all that article says, so we'll keep an eye out. For now hit the jump for a few more photos of our boys...

Today's Fanboy Delusion

Today I'd rather be...

... hanging off Dominic Cooper.

(via) Excuse me while I spend days upon days trying to suss out what skimpy thing it is that Dominic Cooper is actually wearing in this photograph -- is he just wearing lycra bike shorts? That's my guess and my god, I might faint at the thought of that. It's also wildly cruel of him to tease us with such possibilities and not give us a better look -- when we've seen already him bursting out of a speedo there's no going back to mere glimpses like this!

Anyway y'all can thank Nat over at The Film Experience for pulling my own head out of my own big ass so's I saw this photo, only mere months after it was posted -- for shame on me, I don't know how I missed it, especially given how stingy this long-time fave's become as of late. I promise to do better if you do better, Dom! By which I mean let's see a shot from the person climbing behind you next time, ehh? Know your angles.

Cowboys and Criminals and Coopers, Oh My

Anybody watching the Western series That Dirty Black Bag on AMC+ right now? As seen above it stars our boy Dominic Cooper in his first big role since our beloved Preacher ended a couple of years ago -- you could tell me it was a decade ago and I'd believe you given the way time's been moving, but no, Preacher ended in September of 2019. Anyway I am saving a binge of That Dirty Black Bag later on so no, I don't know the context of the above photo I took out-of-context, but I dig, I dig.

That show's not why I'm here today though -- today I'm here for the news that Cooper is about to co-star in another limited series, this one with our other boys Jack Lowden and Tom Cullen! Based on true events of a big robbery in 1983, the series called The Gold (thx Mac) will star Cooper & Lowden & Cullen alongside Downton Abbey's Hugh Bonneville and the great Sean Harris, and in its six episodes will deal with what's called the UK's "Crime of the Century" and several years of its aftermath. There's more at the link above. I'm there with that cast of hunkery.

MNPP's Sweet 16

Two things that have been very important to my life are celebrating their birthdays today -- firstly the actor Dominic Cooper is turning 43, and if you haven't kept up with our long love affair then I recommend you click through our Dom archives. (For one there's more of the above 2008 photo-shoot, one of my faves, here and here.) If you were to ask me "The Moment I Fell For... Dominic Cooper" (which is a real series here on the site, although I haven't done one in a bit) I'd tell you it was the scene where he comes on to his teacher in The History Boys...

... and I wouldn't be lying! But equal weight would have to be given to the deleted Mamma Mia scene where we first learned of the junk Dom was carrying in his trunk -- an epochal moment in human existence, that.

(Then he wore that speedo in The Devil's Double and forget about it.) Anyway checking to see what Domi is up to right now -- it's been kind of quiet since Preacher, my beloved Preacher, ended -- he's doing a UK miniseries called That Dirty Black Bag (which is described as "A steampunk spaghetti Western series" on IMDb) that co-stars his fellow Brit-boys Douglas Booth and Christian Cooke...

... and yes I will surely have people commenting here that they cannot tell these three white boys apart, and that's fine. I get it. I can but that's my job, to mentally rolodex such stuffs. On that note we come to the other thing celebrating a birthday today, which is My New Plaid Pants itself! HAPPY 16 TO MNPP!!!

I started this here website on June 2nd 2005 on a whim of boredom, and I took that whim and I stretched it out for sixteen ridiculous years of nonsense. We just passed 30,000 posts recently? Truly, mind-bogglingly insane, that. Anyway before I send myself off to the Glue Factory I'll do what's become an annual tradition of sorts here at the site for our anniversary -- I'll ask for money! I try not to do this too much (although there's always a PayPal donation button over there in the right-hand column) but our anniversary feels like the correct place for a wee bit of coin begging. If you've enjoyed MNPP at all why not throw us a dime or two? I make basically no money off of this site and all my hard work -- haha forget about the pennies per year the "ads" bring me. Today's as good a day for supporting a writer you like as any, says me, your favorite beefcake pauper. You can donate right here. Thanks, y'all!

Pics of the Day

Oh here's some nice overdue news on one of MNPP's forever-faves -- Dominic Cooper has a project coming up! Haven't seen him since the crazy underrated series Preacher finished its crazy underrated run a couple years back. He's starring in a six-episode miniseries called Spy City for AMC+, which will have him playing an MI6 agent in the early 60s who is sent to Berlin to sniff out a rat. This is reminding me of his turn playing Bond author Ian Fleming in the miniseries Fleming in 2014 (anybody remember that? He showed him bum!) -- Dom definitely would've loved that sweet sweet James Bond role, wouldn't he've? Not that that exactly makes him unique among "Every British Actor," haha. And he's only 42, he's still young enough... although I think that ship's probably sailed. Anyway we love him and the series will debut on April 15th, so not a long wait! DH was kind enough to share some images and I've got the Dom-focused ones for us here after the jump...

Dominic Cooper Six Times

Just a heads-up that I do believe my brain has hit the wall of "being able to focus on anything for longer than five seconds" for this here Election Day 2020, and you probably shouldn't expect me to write much more in the way of words for today. But wait! That's not a bad thing for you! Because I've decided I'm going to spend a good chunk of the afternoon...

... just tweeting out random photos of dudes on my Twitter account as a happy distraction for us all. I've got folders full of hot stuff just gathering dust and it's just what the doctor ordered, goddamit! These photos here of my boy Dom Cooper (via) which I somehow previously missed, deserved an actual proper post though, and so here we are. Posting them here. Hit the jump for it...

Dominic Cooper Three Times

.

Not sure how these recent photos slipped by me when I posted that enormous batch of new recent photos back in October but I'll always fall over myself to take a lil' Dom break. (click to embiggen)

Good Afternoon, Gratuitous Dominic Cooper

.
I don't know what brought it on all of a sudden like but I got to missing Preacher last night and it wouldn't let me go -- the final season only just finished airing a few weeks back and I thought it went out wonderfully, I really shouldn't be settling into longing and depression just yet. But here we are.

I did feel a little better when I found our long running love Dominic Cooper had a couple of rather sizable brand new photoshoots floating around though, and so in case you're feeling like I'm feeling, like a world sans Preacher is a world one Preacher light, maybe this post will make you feel a little better too. Hit the jump for a couple dozen snaps...

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Max (2002)

Adolf Hitler: Genius and happiness go
together as well as cheese and chalk.

Wouldn't it be weird to be typecast as Adolph Hitler? I think that'd probably be weird. Not that the actor Noah Taylor (who is turning 50 today) has been exactly typecast -- he's had a long varied career, and only played Hitler twice. But twice is... more than once, ya know. (I imagine that Damon Herriman, who's been tasked with playing Charles Manson twice this year, feels much the same.) I've never seen Max, the 2002 movie about a young Hitler's "freundschaft" with a Jewish art dealer (played by John Cusack) but I have of course seen Preacher, the Dominic Cooper television series which has Noah taking...

... a decidedly wackier stance on the Führer, and Noah is really really really smashing in the part. I actually think of his performance every time I see the trailer for Jojo Rabbit (we just shared that yesterday) with Taika Waititi giving the mass murderer the same satirical ridicule. More ridiculing of Nazis please! Never too much. Claws had a very funny subplot that took aim at lame-ass so-called "Proud Boys" with their flaccid little tiki torches this year too.

Anyway speaking of Preacher here and now is where I sadly admit I totally missed, much to my deep and abiding shame, that its fourth and final season had started airing episodes already, and for several weeks at that. How dare I! I have some God-Damned catching up to do! I'm coming, Dom...

Pic of the Day

.
Remember that story Dominic Cooper told that one time about how he was working as a waiter and his penis fell out because of how he was wearing his pants? I bring it up because I am glad to see that he didn't learn anything from that experience, and refuses to pull them up still all these years later. Never let The Man box you in, love! And Douglas Booth's satisfied face clearly agrees. (pic via)

Avenging Dominic Cooper

.
Since everything is all about the Avengers this week I think there is probably some joke about Dom putting the Infinity Pool into the Infinity Wars with this half-naked swimming video off his Instagram today, but then I just get depressed about Agent Carter being an after-thought in the Marvel-verse... sigh. If Endgame doesn't end with Peggy sweeping Steve off his feet (or at least Howard Stark feeling up Steve's abs one more time) I'll riot!

Good Afternoon, Gratuitous Dominic Cooper

.
Had a realization yesterday I hadn't heard anything about our beloved Dom lately (not since the last season of Preacher ended and since we averted our eyes from the Mamma Mia sequel) so I went looking, and looking, and looking, and before you knew it I had a good forty pictures laying here from a few very fine new photo-shoots that'd somehow slipped by me.

Not to mention also some actual employment news (keep in mind this is from November) -- he's making another non-Preacher TV show (before Preacher films its fourth season this year anyway) and it sounds promising. It's called Peacock, and it has him playing a "physical training instructor in a mid-market gym." So uhh yeah, Dom as a trainer, in a gym a lot. Like I said. promising! And to top it off (heh) it's going to co-star this dude:
.

Promising, promising, more promising by the second! We'll see what comes of that -- it supposedly shot its pilot in the fall when it was announced and I couldn't find anything new, so maybe it won't even properly happen. But it's enough to give us a big Dominic Cooper post right now, and that's plenty. Hit the jump for a good three dozen more photographs...

Good Morning, World

.
Yes okay these pictures of Dominic Cooper hanging out at the beach with his brand new "gal pal" Crazy Rich Asians star and total babe Gemma Chan are over a week old and I haven't posted them yet - I am fading, night is coming...

... it's like that scene at the end of Indiana Jones where the dude ages into dust in five seconds up in here, et cetera. Sorry everyone, and sorry Dom, I have let you all down. I'll think about my sins while y'all hit the jump and finally see these pictures gathered up in one big beach sexy lump of over fifty pictures...

Dominic Cooper Two Times

.
I missed a whole lot of stuff while I was away this past week, and these shots of Dom in the new issue of Attitude Magazine are among the stuff skittering towards the cracks that I don't dare lose. I don't dare it! Also they asked him about a Gay James Bond Movie for some reason? Read it here. Anyway do any of you watch Preacher or what? Sometimes I feel like I'm the only damn person on the planet who's watching. It's maybe gotten a little too convoluted for its own good this season - it works best when it focuses on the relationship between its core threesome - but there's still nothing else so blasphemously delicious on TV today so you'd best believe I'll be keeping with it.

Good Morning, World

.
Do you guys think it's possible that it's more upsetting for me to see Dominic Cooper and Ruth Negga have to play alienated lovers on Preacher than it is for them to have to play alienated lovers, as real-world alienated lovers? Because I find all the smoochy scenes on this season of the show, knowing they've busted up their perfect and beautiful union (no I am not projecting here at all), full on traumatic. Be kind, there is a very trying time for me!
.
.
Anyway like the tweet says this week's episode had what will probably be the gratuitous bone Dom will throw us this year, so natch I capped it, lovingly, thoroughly, just like I have the previous times - see here especially and then see here and then see here and then see here and then see here and then see here and then see here. I did say "thoroughly" y'all. Anyway for this week's Preacher flavored pleasures hit the jump...

10 Off My Head: Siri Says 2011

.
It's been a couple of weeks since the last time the little lady inside of our telephone whispered sweet nothings into our ear and gave us the chance to do a new entry in our "Siri Says" series but lo behold today she's back, and she said the number "11" and so lo behold we're looking to The Movies of 2011 today. It's only been seven years since we celebrated and dissected that twelve months of cinema with our Golden Trousers, you can read through all of those at this link - or head straight to my Top Ten right here - but things have shifted around some so let's update where we stand as of 2018.

The problem with some of these are that I just haven't seen them in seven years. But doesn't that say something, that I haven't felt the need to revisit some, while others I've revisited several times since? Like I'm sure if I re-watched Martha Marcy May Marlene or Take Shelter (both movies that were in my original top ten) today I'd remember what I loved about them but right this minute they're foggy, my recollections. So they've dropped off. Anyway that's all we're doing. Shaking out my wobbly brain at this exact moment...
