Pillion Reaching Completion

It's been a long hard ride for Pillion and the people who love it -- the dom-com starring Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling edged us all fall awards season long (I saw and reviewed it at NYFF in October) only to wait until February to give us a U.S. theatrical release proper. The Oscars ignored it (because of course they did, they're lame) and I put it in my top five movies of the year, and now after all this time, it's finally coming... out on blu-ray! A24 dropped the pre-order earlier today -- grab it at this link. I don't really understand why it's not 4K but at least they're promising the "unrated  theatrical cut" which... I have no idea what that means to be honest. I saw it like three times but they were all in the fall during festival and awards screenings -- I never could really suss out what cut was what after that. I guess I'll know when I sit down and watch this after it ships out in July. Just in time for my birthday! Bend me over a picnic table and give me my present, Alex!

Please Dacre, Don't Hurt 'Em

Consider this a mea culpa to Dacre Montgomery since I wrote that I wasn't enamored with his performance in this weekend's horror movie Faces of Death in my review -- he is clearly having a whole lot of fun with his big performance and there are a couple of shots of him wearing a skin-tight body-suit thing (just from above the waist) where he is twisting and writhing and he looks super hot. That's not nothing! But I thought he was much better in last year's surprisingly terrific Gus Van Sant crime flick Dead Man's Wire, which I'm ashamed I never reviewed -- I haven't expected much from a GVS movie in awhile but that one reminded me how wonderful a director he can be. Straight-forward, low-key, thrilling and perfectly performed by Bill Skarsgård and Dacre -- if y'all never checked that one out I say do that! It's ace. Okay -- have a great weekend! I'm out. Who's a Good Boys

Despite all of the weird release delays I'm still so happy that A24 was the company that snapped up Harry Lighton's "dom-com" Pillion y'all. They're the best at ridiculous marketing gimmicks and without them selling this movie I'd never have gotten to own an orgy commemorative plate (see below) or a "Good Boys" candle as seen above, which they've just dropped the pre-order for on their site. And where would my life be without these things??? Anyway that delightful doggie candle is in honor of the movie hitting VOD today at last -- you can rent it right here. And if you happened to miss my review of my fourth favorite movie of 2025 one of the ten thousand other times that I posted it since seeing it at NYFF last fall, click here. In the email where A24 announced the VOD drop they also mention that the blu-ray for Pillion is coming soon -- I do hope they consider a 4K disc! -- and surely I'll scream about that when the time comes, too. I been Pillion-pilled!!!

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

 ... you can learn from:

Please Baby Please (2022)

Arthur: Heart in ribs like bird in cage.
When it flutters, set it free.

I have now done quotes from this movie for Harry Melling's birthday three out of the past four years -- see 2023 right here and see 2024 right here (that second one includes lots of Harry on Karl Glusman sexiness and I do recommend) -- not sure what the hell I was doing on March 13th of last year that I missed this ocassion, but I'm making it up to you today, Harry! And then some since I also just realized that even with all the past year's Pillion-ness I hadn't given Harry his own tag here on the site yet -- shame the fuck on me. So that's now fixed. Harry Melling's on the side-bar now -- well earned.

Also I suppose from now on for his birthdays we'll probably try quoting his other "Harry Melling gets gay subjugated by a hot biker" movie, the aforementioned masterpiece Pillion. My #4 movie of 2025! There's lots to celebrate in that movie too. But here today as an additional birthday treat I'll share Harry's recent photo-shoot for Behind The Blinds magazine (via) -- I hadn't shared it yet because it's wasn't nearly slutty enough to my liking; people need to realize that we are hot for Harry and respect and indulge our desires. Anyway it's what we got for now so hit the jump for it...

Alexander Skarsgård Nine Times

So has Pillion opened in a theater near you yet? Keeping up with this relentless release has been a thorn in my side for months and months and I'm honestly just glad that as of this week or next it will I think finally have expanded as far as it will be expanding and we can move on to the 4K blu-ray with X-rated deleted scenes being released. That's not even me being my usual just-making-shit-up self -- they're the ones who made that shit up for headlines (see here). The only excised footage we've gotten any confirmation on existing is a straight-on shot of Alex's pierced prosthetic and honestly -- it's a fake penis, who cares? I am curious if the version y'all are seeing in theaters is the same one I saw (and reviewed!) at NYFF though. Anyway stay tuned for physical media news on this probably in the near-ish future -- I already told you that the terrific score is being released by A24 on vinyl, check that news here. Until then we've got this new photoshoot (via) of big boy Alex looking very handsome and unfortunately very clothed after the jump...

Noah Jupe Seven Times

I can't say that I expected to see the little kid from the Quiet Place movies rocking not much more than a black thong on the cover of a magazine on the docket but I guess Noah Jupe wanted us all to know he's a big boy now. And so he has, thanks to Perfect magazine, which put him in a variation of the same Tom Ford slut-outfit that Alexander Skarsgard rocked back in December for Dust magazine -- should I do a "Who Wore It Best?" poll? Well we're here, why not...

Anyway I hadn't even put together the two times I saw Hamnet this past Fall that I knew Noah Jupe already from several kid performances -- he'd already in that film aged up into Hot Young Man so perhaps I'd set up a mental block. I even saw him live in person at a Hamnet Q&A and no dots were connected. It wasn't until I saw this photoshoot and realized I needed to google his age and make sure we weren't being led into a mine-field when I was like, "Oh shit right -- he was in those earlier things." Don't let them ever tell you that a black thong won't gain you name recognition, fellas. Hit the jump for the entire shoot...

Pick a Peck of Pillion

I don't know who that lucky chap standing with the camera is but down there under him is Alexander Skarsgård (hence him being a lucky chap) -- this is a set photo from Pillion that was included with a few others in a new Interview Magazine interview with writer-director Harry Lighton that I recommend reading! (thx Mac) Probably read it only if you've seen the movie already because I do feel like there are some spoilers contained therein -- and on that note, you know how yesterday I told y'all that Pillion is going nationwide on February 20th? Well I got an email today saying February 27th instead. SIGH. I am just the messenger! Okay? Don't take it out on me! I'm sorry! Anyway that aside there is some cool other news buried in that Interview Mag chat that I hadn't heard before -- apparently Lighton has written the script for History of Sound director Oliver Hermanus' upcoming bio-pic of the designer Alexander McQueen?? I did know that Hermanus was working on this project -- see this post from May of last year here -- but I didn't know Harry Lighton was writing, and has apparently now finished, the script. That's exciting! That said Lighton also admits in this interview that he's never seen a single Rainer Werner Fassbinder movie, and... Harry. Come over. We'll do a binge. I have such sights to show you...

Hey Pillion Wanting People!

I promised y'all I'd try to keep an eye out for news on the release of Harry Lighton's "dom-com" Pillion as A24 has slowly, slowly, slowly drizzled it into theaters, and so here, an update -- they posted on the social-media-site-that-shall-not-be-named today that the film will be going "nationwide" on February 20th. Whatever "nationwide" means but one assumes it means "in lots more theaters than it's in now." I don't have a list of theaters but hopefully this means you can see it then! You should! It's great -- yes that's my cue to link to my review for the five-hundredth time. Now enjoy these Harry Melling photos -- and on that note over at Pajiba our pal Kayleigh wrote about Harry Melling yesterday and it's a good read. He's a keeper.

Welcome to the Araki-verse

Today was a great day for all of us intelligent and beautiful Gregg Araki fans, as a whole bunch of news dropped with regards to the New Queer Cinema legend and icon seen above sandwiched between Pillion star Alexander Skarsgård and director Harry Lighton (oh what a wonderful place to be sandwiched). First came word that his Sundance film I Want Your Sex starring Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman has gotten picked up by Magnolia Pictures! And they plan on releasing it... some time this year. The lack of specifics annoy me. Why not just do next week? I don't have anything going on next week. I can do next week! Pencil that in, Magnolia! Ahem. Anyway obviously we'll be refreshing the whole of the internet until we do have a release date  announcement, making it so you can just keep refreshing MNPP for the news. I got you! The other big news is that he chatted with Variety today (thx Mac) about the forthcoming 4K restoration of his masterpiece Mysterious Skin -- we already knew that was a thing happening but now we have a new trailer...

... as well as a new poster, which I'll post down at the bottom of this post. In the interview Araki really gets into the depths of what he did in restoring the film and it sounds like A LOT and I'm not sure it all sounds necessarily "good" to me but we'll see. I will give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm always worried when these restorations aren't just clean-up jobs and the filmmaker starts talking about how they wanted to fix things they didn't have the money or the tech for before. He even specifically makes to make sure the point that he wasn't doing what George Lucas did to the Star Wars films but... it sounds like a lot of noodling so I worry. Like the one comparative screenshot they share...

... it seems like he altered the movie's iconic angled font? (The top picture is the old version, the bottom is the new.) I don't like that! That is not how the title is supposed to look! But, deep breaths, I will wait and I will see. Anyway the part of the interview that didn't stress me out was this thrilling tidbit -- the film's soundtrack will be getting a vinyl release! That's unimpeachably exciting news. And as for the poster, seen below, the great poster shop Posteritati here in NYC is promising they'll be selling this poster as well as a "limited alternative style" which I will be jumping right on -- I have a couple of signed posters they dropped when Araki's "Teen Apocalypse Trilogy"  came out via Criterion that I cherish deeply. The one for Nowhere hangs over my bed!

It's All Leather & Paddles

Apologies to the one commenter who keeps getting very angry at me for saying that Pillion is out in U.S. theaters this week because it's not out EVERYWHERE -- apologies because I am going to do it again! Pillion is out today, in SOME U.S. cities, some LUCKY U.S. cities, but I've already seen the movie like four times so I'm not keeping track anymore of where and when it's expanding. I assume it will eventually move on to smaller cities and then it will be on streaming and then we can all touch ourselves in unison to it -- a true happy ending. Anyway my NYFF review of the film from last fall can be read at Pajiba -- I love the movie and I am especially happy to see that A24 just dropped the vinyl of the film's score for pre-sale on their website, buy it here. That's the slutty back cover above and we co-sign. And also...

Blessings bestowed upon @thequeerreview.com and @jameskleinmann.com and photographer Mettie Ostrowski for giving PILLION director Harry Lighton the full leather-man treatment alongside their interview; read that here: thequeerreview.com/2026/02/06/i...

... as you can see there director Harry Lighton played Leather Man for our pal James at Queer Review today, so you should click over and check out that interview and those hot-damn buncha photos. Do we have a new hottest movie director? I think we got a contender. Anyway speaking of A24 selling physical media they announced this morning that Marty Supreme will be available on VOD this upcoming Tuesday, when you will also be able to pre-order the blu-ray or 4K disc from their website. Maybe wait til Tuesday to buy the Pillion score and the Marty disc together and save on shipping. There are two of the movies in my Top 10 of 2025! Heck they're in my Top 5. Good shit! Thanks again, A24.

Good Morning, Melling

I'd whinged previously that while I love a good slutty Alexander Skarsgård photoshoot (do I!) I didn't feel as if his extremely talented Pillion co-star Harry Melling should be left out even if he is, you know, less conventionally attractive. So seeing these photos last night made me happy!  I know they're not "slutty" per se but we'll take what we can get. Anyway it's true, the rumors are true, Pillion is out in U.S. theaters TOMORROW. Hard to believe the day's finally come after all the excruiating edging that A24 has put us through for months and months but your day has arrived, folks. Read my review of the movie from NYFF right here. Pillion was also #4 on my favorite movies of 2025 list, even if A24 made me extremely confused whether I should count it as 2025 or 2026 -- I figured by a year from now... well who fucking knows where we'll be a year from now. So tell the people that you love that you love them while you can, and do the same things with the movies! That's my Thursday morning heap of wisdom for you.

Alexander Skarsgård Five Times

I've been curious to see how much press Alexander Skarsgård does for his gay "dom-com" Pillion now that it's finally finally finally getting released in the U.S. in exactly one month -- he did so much endless and admirable shilling for it across the fall with the the festivals and then its U.K. release that I was afraid he might be burned out. But he's landed on the cover of Variety today talking the wonderful film -- my review from NYFF can be read right here -- and I think that it helps that he's also promoting The Moment, Charli XCX's movie that's about to premiere at Sundance. It's not overkill -- it's due diligence! Anyway he's Alex, he looks as ever gorgeous, and so we share the photos! Hit the jump...

Shut Up The Gays Are Talking!

The time has come for the queers to take it away! (When isn't it that time...) The queer critics guild GALECA (of which yours truly is a member) has announced the nominations for our annual Dorian Awards today, and per usual we did good, better, best than most. As ever, because I'm an old crank, I could take issue with some of the people who did get nominated -- I loathe Ethan Hawke's performance in Blue Moon, for instance -- and I could take issue with some of the people who didn't get nominated -- I can't believe we, a group of queer people, didn't have love in our hearts for the best animated movie oif the year by leaps and bounds Boys Go To Jupiter -- but I'll just shut my yap and clap my paws because overall...

... we did very good. A couple of nominations for Pillion! (Even though as I stated earlier today who could be sure which year A24 wants that movie to fall under with their weird release strategy,) A couple of nominations for Hedda, a movie which should be getting much more attention by the big guys -- I can't believe that Tessa Thompson and Nina Hoss probably won't get Oscar nominations whilst steaming crap like the Wicked sequel will. What a world, what a world, indeed. Anyway congrats to all of the nominees (except Ethan Hawke) and if you want to hit the jump I will share our press release with all of the nominations...

Good Morning, Pillion Trailer

The above quite stimulating gif, isn't actually from the just dropped "new" trailer for Pillion -- I will share that trailer down below, but I don't actually think it's that different from the first trailer they dropped when the movie hit the U.K. to be honest. (They certainly didn't decide to switch it up and use any of the choice quotes I gave them in my review of the movie in it, much to my annoyance.) But speaking of my annoyance -- that gif isn't from the trailer because the movie leaked onto the world wide web this week, thanks to the movie hitting digital in the U.K. where it already came out in theaters at a reasonable date several weeks back. I posted about this on Bluesky yesterday...

Part of me's annoyed PILLION inevitably leaked online now before hitting US theaters because you SHOULD see it in theaters in February. But A24 really mucked up its release & of course the second it hit digital in the UK it's gonna be everywhere. Also our US version might get butchered by MPAA so...

— Jason Adams (@jamnpp.bsky.social) January 13, 2026 at 12:49 PM

... so perhaps this whinging will be redundant to you and I apologize, but this seemed an inevitability to me given A24's weird staggering of this wonderful movie's release -- I know because I have heard from all of you many times how annoyed you were that all the press for it was dropping back in the fall but you'd have to wait until February to see the movie here in the States, and believe me, it seemed an inexplicable choice to me as well. On my end -- given I've now seen the movie around four times, unlike you unluckier sorts -- I found the entire thing annoying because I have no idea where to place Pillion for awards consideration. Do I list it as a 2025 movie or a 2026 movie? I'm probably going to go with the former and include it with my Best of 2025 list whenever that drops, but I honestly think this movie could've done better this awards season if A24 had been clearer about all of this. And now the entire movie is out there on the internet if you know where to look. (No I will not be giving you pirating lessons this day, sorry.) Anyway here's the "new" trailer:

Pillion is (inexplicably) out on February 20th.
Please do go see it then. It rules.

A Big Bulging Sound

I don't think it will surprise many of you, given all the posting that I've done about it, that the gay biker BDSM romance (or "dom-com" as it's come to be known) Pillion will be one of my favorite movies of 2025. (And yeah I personally will be counting it as a 2025 release because it's being considered that way for awards attention even though it's really not hitting U.S. theaters until February.) Here is my review of the movie from when it screened at NYFF -- I've been relentlessly delighted by the film's press run, and done the posting to prove it. Anyway one thing I haven't mentioned is the music for the film from musician Oliver Coates, and that's a darn shame because I like the music a lot -- so let me seize onto this news that tumbled into my inbox today and do just that. The film's score is getting a digital release this Friday -- presumably you'll be able to listen to it at all the usual places you listen to music. But the even better news if you ask me is A24 is promising a physical release of the score (presumably that means my beloved vinyl) to sync with the film's official theatrical release in February! I don't know if the above art-work (which is for the digital) will be actually the vinyl's cover, but I sure hope it is. It's serving The Rolling Stones' infamous album Sticky Fingers, for real. (Which was photographed by Warhol -- I always thought it was supposed to be Joe Dallesandro but Wikipedia says there are several bulges vying for the esteemed honor.)

Pic of the Day

It's your daily Pillion post! Okay I doubt I can keep this up until February when the movie comes out (especially with two weeks off at the end of this month) so -- enjoy it while it lasts! A new batch of behind-the-scens photos dropped (thx Mac) and you can see them all over here. This portrait of Alexander Skarsgård in his slutty wrestling singlet is the photo of choice, because duhh. But they're all lovely because this is a really lovely looking movie. It's wild that this is Harry Lighton's very first feature film. Good for him! And if you missed the photos of the Pillion cast in person -- which is to say, my person -- that I shared yesterday, see them here

The Daily Pillion Post

Just in case staring at beautiful and talented men being funny and thoughtful and charming whilst speaking about a wonderful piece of exceptionally horny gay art they created together is your thing (and I am assuming here at MNPP that it would be) there above are some photos and videos from last night's special Pillion screening here in NYC last night. Disgustingly handsome writer-director Harry Lighton is seen there sandwiched between his two stars, Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling, just as we all would be so fortunate to be. What a trio! What a movie! Read my review here if you have not done so yet. And thus went my daily Pillion post.

Tuesday, December 02, 2025

Good Morning, World

I know, I know, it's like Pillion all day every day around here -- and the movie's not even out until February here in the U.S.! But it's out in the U.K. right now so, since we're a global internet, we're also getting inundated with stuff -- not to mention the movie is still gunning for awards attention here Stateside. And is worthy of such! (Here is my review.)

Anyway I really loved this collection of set photos that photographer Chris Harris posted on his Instagram -- see a lot more at this link. And also it actually is a big Pillion Day for me personally because I'm going to go see it again a third time tonight, and be in the room with director Harry Lighton and one Alexander Skarsgård for a second time this very evening! And hopefully Alex won't be recovering from a stomach bug like he was the last time I saw him (see those photos here). Nobody wants to make out when they're not feeling well, after all.

Alexander Skarsgård Nine More Times

I figured they would make us wait at least til tomorrow for more photos of Alexander Skarsgård in Dust magazine after gifting us with that 🔥🔥🔥 cover this morning, but nope! Big hard fat nope. We've got eight more photos here (via) to share and they FULLY live up to the promise of that cover. So let's shut our yaps and open our eyes (not to mention our zippers) after the jump...

Good Morning, World

Well this is certainly one way to kick off a fresh week -- Alexander Skarsgård in see-through jumper and short shorts with a black thong underneath? OKAY. This slutty Pillion press tour is one hundred percent going to kill somebody. And I hope it's me! Obviously I'll be on the look-out for more photos from this shoot for Dust magazine (via) but this one's all there is right this minute. Stay tuned and Happy Monday, pervs. Getting pervier by the minute...
