Our Now Apocalypse pretty boy Avan Jogia is advertising his wares now that he's got a new series on Prime called 56 Days -- anybody watching it? Actually anybody watched it -- I think the entire run of episodes was dropped all at once so maybe you're already done with it. I am not! I haven't even begun, but I do think that I'll probably watch it at some point, for reasons displayed in all their glory up above. Anyway! I am running late this morning. Let's get to it.

Good Morning, World
I first saw these photos of former Now Apocalypse beauty Avan Jogia a couple of days ago but since I never posted them here on the site (only on Bluesky) and since I needed something for this morning's "Good Morning" post, let's do this thing. The photos are for an upcoming Prime series called 56 Days, based on a book by Catherine Ryan Howard (anybody read it?) -- it's described as "an erotic thriller" (ooh we love those) about a couple of pretty young things (played by Jogia and Dove Cameron) who meet, fall into sexytimes, and fifty-six days later a mutilated corpse springs forth and (per usual) somebody's to blame. I think the big question is who is the corpse, if I'm reading this right? It's supposed to be him or her (which is unidentifiable due to the mutilation) and the show will untangle that mystery. Anyway we've worshipped upon the altar of Avan's beauty since that former Gregg Araki series mentioned in this post's first sentence so we'll be watching this when it premieres in February. I don't recognize a single other name involved but Avan's nuff!

A Very Important Bisexual Announcement
Gregg Araki's throuple-coded romp Splendor from 1999 and starring a perhaps never hotter Johnathon Schaech, Kathleen Robertson and Matt Keeslar (swoon), is now streamng, for the first time anywhere I believe, on Tubi! Watch it right here! Granted the man-on-man action in this movie is extremely and frustratingly limited -- Araki for all his gay cred often edged us on that front -- but the homo-tension between Schaech & Keeslar is still enough to light my socks on fire every time I watch and re-watch and rewind and pause this movie, and I think you'll enjoy it too if you've never seen it. (See my previous posts on it here.) I have been having the feeling that this movie might be getting a physical media release soon -- once Gregg''s long long long begged for "Teen Apocalypse Trilogy" finally made its way to Criterion and then Smiley Face made it to Vinegar Syndrome I figured it'd only be a matter of time before the rest of his classics got dug up. I have a feeling that The Living End might be ahead as well. Also I just realized that I think Kaboom is out of print too? WTF! And of course Araki's series Now Apocalypse is still in desperate need of any release at all. Get to it, studios!

Avan Jogia Three Times
These photos were supposedly for Paper magazine back in May -- the interview is here but there are only a couple of the photos that I can find posted there? (There is one, not shared here, that contains the hint of a mesh t-shirt that I would like to see more of though.) The rest must've been shared in other locations. Anyway Avan is such walking sex! My god.

Which is Hotter?
Happilly Now Apocalypse actor Avan Jogia has been quite active on Instagram lately, gifting us with these three photos seen here, very much of note -- and naturally I feel the need to make you choose between "shirtless" or "suit bulge" because I'm bored out of my mind and avoiding other work right now.

Avan Jogia Six Times
Another day, another magazine I've never heard of gifting us with photos of a beautiful actor -- these photos of Now Apocalypse star Avan Jogia come at us via a thing called Grumpy magazine (via)? Sure, why not. Anyway Avan looks diabolically dreamy and that's all that matters. (I hope Gregg Araki casts Avan again the next time he directs something!) Hit the jump for them all...

Good Morning, World
For yesterday's "Good Morning, World" post I wished Now Apocalypse actor Avan Jogia a happy birthday and got to rambling about Gregg Araki shit, which always leads me back unto his movie The Doom Generation -- always me and Doom, forever linked! Well about ten minutes after I did that rambling yesterday I saw the above photo on the Instagram of that movie's star Johnathon Schaech, so we'll consider it a sign. A sign of what I have no idea, but if Johnathon wants to come wrap those ridiculous biceps around my throat and strangle me until I have a vision of what this sign portends I would be fine with that too. Fine! Super fine!

Good Morning, World
A happy 31st birthday to Now Apocalypse actor Avan Jogia, who was kind enough to share with us this lovely photo the other day on Instagram. Exquisite timing, Avan. God I wish Now Apocalypse had been the humongous hit it deserved to be and we got five seasons. I miss dem sexy nuts. If only Gregg Araki would make something new for god's sake! I'm hoping this is an Araki-fied year, what with the new 4K restoration of his film The Doom Generation screening at Sundance the other week. Bring on the Teen Apocalypse Trilogy boxed-set, Criterion! It's not just me who's begging for that now -- every single time I see anybody put forth the question -- what movie should Criterion rescue! -- a few people say those films. So f'ing overdue.

Avan Jogia Five Times
Going with a surprise theme, I guess -- I already marked director Gregg Araki's birthday earlier so let's share this brand new photoshoot of his Now Apocalypse leading man Avan Jogia while we're at it, huh? Not that Avan is even somewhat recognizable in these photos for Schön! magazine -- he's gone full Billy Idol, and while I probably prefer Avan Original Flavor I'm not mad at any of this. There are more photos and an interview at this link, or just hit the jump for my fave snaps of the bunch...

Avan Jogia Six Times
.
Seeing Avan just depresses me about how there won't be a second season of Gregg Araki's Now Apocalypse (sigh) but these new photos of him (via) clearly demand posting -- so I checked IMDb to see what this beautiful, beautiful man is up to and hey, this sounds interesting! He made a movie called The Exchange about a nerdy kid who orders a best friend online and what's interesting about it is...
... the nerdy kid in the lead role is played by Ed Oxenbould, who was so tremendously good in the lead of Paul Dano's film Wildlife back in 2018. I'm very happy to see Ed getting work! And while I can definitely comprehend the plot of a movie (or real life) being "I ordered Avan Jogia online!" I have no idea if The Exchange will actually be worth our time -- it's from the director of Dirty Grandpa, which... was not. But let's hope this is. For Ed and Avan's sake. And let's hit the jump for more pretty pictures of pretty Avan...

Avan Jogia Twenty-Five Times
.
While we all sit on our thumbs waiting to hear if Starz is still in the Gregg Araki business (or vice versa) let's waste a couple moments staring at some photos that Now Apocalypse star Avan Jogia's been captured in since the last time we checked in on him, shall we? We shall. Hit the jump for the rest...

Now Again Please Already
.
Nice transparent trousers there, Avan. (pic via) On that note damn I wish Starz would announce a second season of Now Apocalypse already. I re-watched Gregg Araki's film Kaboom the other night, inspired by Haley Bennett's killer performance in the film Swallow at Tribeca and having not seen it since around the time it came out in 2010, and was surprised by just how similar the two are -- I knew there was overlap as there always is with Araki stuff, but NA feels especially Kaboomy. Clueless cocktease roommate, snarky blonde BFF, technicolor spangled outfits, trippy death scenes, body fluids, Roxane Mesquida. It's got everything shy of Beau Mirchoff nipple play (a gaping lack, admittedly).

Avan Jogia One Time
.
Have you guys finished Now Apocalypse yet? If you have shut your goddamned mouths, cuz I haven't! I had screeners for the first five and watched them in a hurry well before any of the episodes aired on Starz, but now that we've all got access to the entire season I feel like taking my time and savoring the rest of them since who knows when (if) the show will come back. Anyway this shot of our boy Avan is via Attitude Magazine -- they have some quotes from him about how he doesn't like sexual labels yadda yadda et cetera and so forth... ahh the fascinations of youth.

I Am Link
.
--- No Really Now - As I've been previewing for weeks now (months, actually) Gregg Araki's giddy gay day-dream for Starz called Now Apocalypse is premiering this very weekend, on Sunday night. I recommend you watch it, I have found the episodes I've seen so far bonkers sexy fun. Anyway there is a very good piece on Araki, that chats with the man himself, over at The Ringer -- they look back at his entire career and how it's all been trash-compacted-up (that is meant as a compliment) into this show, which touches on everything he's stood for since he started the 90s.
--- The Sheen Is Off - It's a big year for our boy Michael Sheen -- Neil Gaiman's Good Omens premieres on Amazon in May, which has him playing the sissy angel Aziraphale. But he's getting his evil on this year too -- he's just signed on to play a serial killer on a FOX drama called Prodigal Son. Dubbed "The Surgeon" (that sounds promisingly gross) he's the father of the lead character, a criminal psychologist who learned how killers think from dear ol' dad.
--- Big Horror - Scream writer Kevin Williamson is teaming up with Hostel director Eli Roth for an adaptation of the book The River at Night, which is giving me some Descent-vibes description-wise -- a girl who's recovering from the death of her brother goes on a wilderness rafting trip with some girlfriends to get her mind off things and, well, things don't go as planned. Okay they don't mention cave monsters so maybe it's more like Deliverance than The Descent.
--- Smile Jacky Boy - It seems like a good idea to me for Jack O'Connell to do something a bit lighter, movie-wise -- I feel like he's always grimacing and grunting (sexily, but still) whenever I see him on-screen. So I look forward to this sci-fi romance called Little Fish that he's just signed on for, which'll have him living in a world where memory is running out, opposite Bates Motel and Ready Player One actress Olivia Cooke.
--- Squad Member - I remain agnostic on there being a Suicide Squad sequel since the first movie was so so so very lousy even with such a mostly good cast, but the cast just got a little more interesting to me now that Will Smith has left the project and Idris Elba has been brought in to replace him as the super-shooter Deadshot. Will Smith wasn't even really that bad in the first film, to be honest - he certainly wasn't one of its biggest problems, anyway - but I still prefer looking at Idris on all counts. Him and Jai Courtney palling around? Yes please. (thx Mac)
--- And Finally hey remember when I posted that video of Alessandro Nivola doing some shirtless karate training on his Instagram? That was for a movie called The Art of Self-Defense that has him playing the "charismatic and mysterious Sensei" (according to IMDb anyway) to Jesse Eisenberg, who's looking to learn how to defend himself. Well the film is about to play South By Southwest next week (before it hits theaters in June) and the folks at BirthMoviesDeath have got the first teaser trailer -- check it out here. And below I giffed what is naturally my favorite moment...

The Apocalypse is Now... in Four Days
.
Gregg Araki's hilariously hot Now Apocalypse premieres on Starz this Sunday night! If you happened to miss the trailer we posted way back when watch it here. Reviews have been popping up all this week but none that I've read have really gotten to the heart of how much fun I found its first five episodes -- it's a bite-sized grab-bag of all Araki's films, from the stoner-bliss of Smiley Face to the day-glo sexual spasms of Kaboom to the acid-tongued slacker ennui of his "Teen Apocalypse" trilogy; it's Nowhere shaved down to an episode of that Archie show, basically. It's a blast and I want it inside of me for many, many weeks. It's the gay ass content I need in 2019.

Dazed & Apocalyptic
.
Although Dazed doesn't seem to have it up on their own site just yet Dazed magazine's next issue appears to have a photo-shoot of the cast for Gregg Araki's forthcoming Starz series Now Apocalypse that I've been telling you to watch...
.
THIS SHOW IS SO MUCH FUCKING FUN#NowApocalypse pic.twitter.com/KZMpw22BzZ— Jason Adams (@JAMNPP) February 13, 2019
... and it's one worth looking forward to! The photo-shoot, and the show obviously. (If you missed the trailer click here.) If there are more shots worth sharing once the proper link arrives I'll share those too, but for now hit the jump for our Beau & Avan edit...

Avan Jogia Seven Times
.
I thought I might be able to resist the siren song of Avan Jogia given the fact that I had no idea why I even knew his name until he got cast on Gregg Araki's Now Apocalypse -- I thought maybe, incorrectly it turns out, that he was one of those Teen Wolf or CW Superhero Show twinks who multiplied like bunnies all of a sudden -- but having watched two episodes of Now Apocalypse at this juncture... yeah, I won't be ignoring Avan, turns out.
Mark your calendar, kiddos -- Now Apocalypse premieres on Starz on March 10th. You can watch the first trailer right here. Oh and here's a new chat with Araki about the show. Given my positive reaction to the series' first couple of episodes you can expect more coverage from me, lots more, I'd wager. Hit the jump for the rest...

Pic of the Day
.
Wave hello with whatever you've got handy to this picture of Avan Jogia and Beau Mirchoff in Gregg Araki's forthcoming television program Now Apocalypse, which we just shared the trailer for on Wednesday. The show premieres on March 10th and I can only assume, blessed be, this is only the start of a massive PR push involving all manner of bulges. (click to embiggen)
