I took Austin's gratuitous bait last week, I might as well take it this week too -- especially since this time's even more gratuitous. Plus (more importantly) it's a Monday and I am feeling even more lazy. Tired? Lazy. Whatever. Austin Nichols took his clothes off for us and posted a video of it online and we're nowhere close to being above cheaply bought off in such a manner. If only all actors were as easy as I am. We am. We are. I need to go stare at the sea y'all.

Good Morning, World

I've got two count 'em two big reviews dropping today and I will link to them when they're live, but on that tip I figured I'd finally get around to sharing the trailer for the latest I Know What You Did Last Summer movie (out on Friday) since that's one of the two movies I'm reviewing and this movie is practically throbbing with hot dudes all around. Throbbing! Above is Tyriq Withers who I posted about previously when the trailer for the football horror movie Him dropped a few months ago -- after watching him on-screen I one thousand percent understand why he's about to be a big thing. His sauna scene glimpsed in the trailer and in the above gif is brief but will do for the current generation of youths what Ryan Phillippe's shower scene in the original movie did for people my age. But beyond Tyriq there's also Jonah Hauer-King with a breathstopping abs reveal, Austin Nichols playing a weirdly sleeveless pastor, Daddy Billy Campbell, and The Fisherman's first victim (not much of a spoiler since the trailer gives the entire scene away) the utterly gorgeous Joshua Orpin. This movie is horror hunkery at its finest! 

Which is Hotter?

Actor and MNPP fave Austin Nichols recently became a feature film director with a movie called The Salamander King that premiered at the Dallas Film Fest last month, and which stars actor and MNPP fave Justin Chatwin! Not sure where the movie will be seen next -- I'll certainly keep my eyes peeled -- but for the time being the two MNPP faves were caught hanging out together on a boat this past holiday weekend (click the photo to embiggen it) and natch we gotta present you with our poll...

I feel like I haven't seen him in anything in a bit -- since I didn't watch Minx or Ray Donovan the last time was probably The Walking Dead and hoo boy that was awhile ago -- but he does pop up on Insta every so often, and today was one of them times, and... hoo boy, was it. Waiting To Inhale

Alright everybody take a deep breath like our friend Austin Nichols there (via), because as promised slash threatened at the start of this week I'm off-blog for the next couple of days for work stuff. Which roughly translates to -- we will see ya back here on Monday. But you can also keep an eye on my socials because stuff will probably be hopping on there! Probably!

When I saw that Austin Nichols was on a TV show called This Close my first reaction was obviously, "What the fuck is a This Close?" since there's more TV than anybody could ever come close to keeping track of these days. Hey remember when Reality Shows were all the rage and everybody was afraid they meant the end of scripted shows, wasn't that quaint? I kinda long for the novelty of five nights of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire bringing us all together. 

Anyway, after looking it up This Close sounds like a deaf Will & Grace (not tone-deaf, as that's just Will & Grace, I mean deaf deaf) with two BFFs, one a gay man and one a straight woman, all deaf, maneuvering their love lives yadda yadda. Austin seems to be romancing the female half in this shirtless scene, unfortunately. (via, thx Mac) So anybody watch this show? Austin is looking good. It's a shame he and Jake Gyllenhaal don't seem to hang out anymore, they always seemed so happy in each other's company.

Big thanks to Austin Nichols for sharing on his Instagram this behind-the-scenes picture of himself sandwiched by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Paul Bettany taken presumably during the shooting of their film Wimbledon in 2004 -- that is a sandwich to be. And it's got me revisiting this old post about them two blonds in the steam-room together... huh maybe I should re-watch Wimbledon?

It would have been the great Anthony Perkins' 85th birthday today. The actor was born in New York City; his father Osgood was a big star on Broadway and did lots of character work in Hollywood, but Tony barely knew him - he died of a heart attack when Tony was just five. Tony went to a bunch of fancy private schools before turning to acting in 1953 in George Cukor's film The Actress...

... which was based on an autobiographical play written by no less than Ruth Gordon! Jean Simmons (weird that I've brought her up twice this week already - she's not an actress I'm super familiar with) plays Ruth, Spencer Tracy plays her father, and Tony plays the boy who wants to marry her. I haven't seen the film (should I?) but this seems like an awfully big role for a debut - I wonder how he got it (cough George Cukor cough).

I'm just gonna put that picture of Tony and his good friend Paul Newman there, just because. Anyway I'm glad I got the opportunity to bring up Psycho today because Bates Motel is currently airing, as you might be aware of, and the new season has made it from prequel to present, aka they're dealing with the timeline of Hitch's actual film this year, and I really wanted to share a behind-the-scenes picture from last week's "Shower Scene" as it was... only it's tremendously spoilery and I was worried about how to do it. So I'll take us after the jump for that -- if you care about spoilers for this season of Bates Motel, do not click through!

... having a stiff one with Austin Nichols.

Without actually ever being gay The Walking Dead has gotten really REALLY GAY this season - which sucks because this season is excruciating and more than ever I am only hate-watching the show. But Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan (who is the most excruciating of all) has brought a real weird gay rape fantasia feel to the series. 

So we get this scene, which is set up as if Spencer (that's Austin's character's name) is getting prettied up (he is even called "pretty" seconds before this) to go and flirt with one of Negan's female sidekicks, and instead he goes and well he flirts with Negan himself. And the camera...

... it does linger upon the backside of his khakis. And as he saunters up the stairs Negan says, "Oh crap. Is that for me?" (You can hear the audio over on Twitter, where I tweeted this scene as I watched it.) And you can't see the booze at this point - it's played as if he's taking in tall pretty Austin as his gift.

I don't want to get into spoilers but let's just say this "date" goes about as well as you think it might with a psychopath like Negan. But this episode also features all three of the show's openly gay characters (well the show hasn't mentioned that Jesus is gay yet, but he is), not to mention Daryl who, well, they keep calling him asexual but they're not really fooling anybody.

I don't know that I can make a coherent argument about the show's attitude towards gay men because I don't think the show has a coherent attitude toward gay men, or towards anything, except perhaps empty posturing and self-important nihilism. So of course when the Gay comes, after several seasons of getting shit for avoiding all things Gay, it comes to us in the middle of a story about a man with a great big killer phallus. The Walking Dead is nothing if not always thuddingly, exhaustively literal in its obsessions. Dick is just the zombie meat of the day, it seems.

Last night as I tried and failed to drift off to sleep I skimmed through Instagram, nervous that there might've been some good stuff (you know the good stuff about which I speak) that I might've missed over my holiday, and I ended up down the rabbit hole of dudes, so let's play some catch-up. I'd fallen behind several episodes with Marvel's Agents of SHIELD until last night, where with a mini-marathon what should I discover but they got Jake Gyllenhaal's BFF Austin Nichols up in there for a hot minute, and I do mean hot, since he had grown a beard and he was in his underpants.

I'm definitely getting into the show by now - the characters have begun to seem more distinctive, and it's having some fun with itself. I laughed out loud a couple of times, which is a good sign for something so earnest. We'll see how it rolls. Til then, here's a bunch of Austin, after the jump...
