Pics of the Day

That there is our first look at Charlie Hunnam in Zack Snyder's upcoming Netflix movie Rebel Moon, via Vanity Fair who have a big piece on it today -- below you'll see Chuck alongside his co-stars Michiel Huisman and Sofia Boutella. Apparently this started off as a Star Wars spin-off but became its own thing and... uhh yeah, we can tell. Anyway Rebel Moon comes out right before Christmas and I'd like for it to be good, since Charlie (and us fans of Charlie) could really use something good on his resume right about now!

Good Morning, World

Sorry to everyone else but I'm sure you get it --
good morning only to Michiel Huisman.

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

The Invitation (2015)

David: It's okay, I'm not offended. A lot of people think
we're crazy. But I doubt they're as happy as we are.

Happy birthday to director Karyn Kusama today! I hope she comes back and directs more episodes of Yellowjackets next season! She only did the pilot, but I'd love more of her golden touch in season two. (Whatever the case if Melanie Lynskey's there we'll be in good hands.) Stepping back to The Invitation (masterpiece!) which is to say more specifically Michiel Huisman news though, did y'all see this photo of Luke Evans teased us with on his Insta last week?

The two of them recently filmed Echo 3, an upcoming Apple+ series from Mark Boal, screenwriter of Triple Frontier and Zero Dark Thirty -- here's my post about that announcement. One assumes this photo was taken during the time of that shoot, or maybe they just couldn't get enough of each other's half-naked company. And if it's the latter we need to take to the streets to demand more proof.

My Complications Have Complications

Well I can upload tweets, that much seems to be working. I could just do a post of tweets? No, no worries, I won't put you through that. Anyway as seen there yes in that tweet my site's not working properly today -- due to no fault of my own! Send your hate letters to Mr. Google! So I can't post images. I was in the middle of a real fun post too, when it stopped working. If the ancient gears of this place get clicked back into place before I leave the office in a couple of hours I'll throw that post up -- literally, I will barf it into your faces -- but if not I do have to alert y'all to the fact that my Memorial Day Weekend begins tonight, and I'm off until Tuesday. So we'll see how it goes! And if this post is still at the site's top for the next five days you'll know how it went! Stay ever tuned, and...

Michiel's Headed South With Luke Evans

Well this is whatever the Me version of Catnip would be -- Michiel Huisman, the actor engineered in a Dutch lab to make me feel the most simultaneously horny and garbage-like, has just joined the cast of an upcoming action-thriller series for Apple+ called Echo 3... and by "the cast of" I mean Luke Evans. It's an adaptation of an Israeli series called When Heroes Fly that's about a scientist who goes missing in South America and her husband (Huisman) and brother (Evans), who're both ex-military, going on the hunt to find her. The series will be written by Mark Boal, the dude who wrote Kathryn Bigelow's films The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, as well as Triple Frontier, which speaking of -- Boal found some excuses to get Garrett Hedlund and Charlie Hunnam and Oscar Isaac out of their clothes in that, so let's stay optimistic. Luke Evans, if he has any sense, should write that into his contract -- "If Michiel Huisman ever co-stars with me it must be at least 75% in the nude." Come on, Luke! You owe us. Hit the jump for a couple more photos of Michiel in Vogue Italia a few years back...

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

 ... you can learn from:

The Invitation (2015)

Will: You look different, Edie.
Eden: I am different. I'm free. All that useless pain,
it's gone. It's something anyone can have, Will,
and I want you to have it too.

Happy 5 to one of the greatest horror films of our age, Karyn Kusama's masterpiece of resolute tension The Invitation -- I don't think we really appreciated at the time how great it was, or how great it would be; talk about prescience. It saw QAnon coming, that's for damn sure. The feeling that the people we love have been co-opted by illogic, their traumas weaponized by outside forces, their happy smiling faces turned to terrifying masks. I can't remember if I've mentioned it here on the site proper or just tweeted about it but I have an old, good friend who I lost to the Q-cult and this movie in retrospect nails everything about the experience -- the sense of confusion and betrayal, of slamming your head up against an impenetrable place. It's weird now going back and re-reading my original very positive review of the film, how innocent that review seems now. How could we have known what was coming? Well The Invitation did. It put out the red lanterns lighting the way.

Michiel Huisman Three Times

I will unfortunately never be able to watch The Flight Attendant because I find its leading lady one hundred percent unwatchable -- like I have to leave the room if she's on-screen -- but if you watched it and liked it I congratulate you. You're made of sturdier stuff than I. I had Michiel's character's fate spoiled for me early, which gave me my out, but I am curious now, with a show so supposedly twisty, if he got more work on the show than I'd anticipated? Any good, worthwhile Michiel content on the show? Somebody spoil me.

A Song of 4K Fire

.
I, like a lot of you, was pretty disappointed with the final season of A Game of Thrones. So much that I haven't really even been able to think about the show since it ended -- it's hurt too much. Too painful! But today's news that the entire series is being collected onto an ultra-suave 4K blu-ray set just in time for the holidays -- it's hitting shelves on November 3rd -- has, well, got me thinking about Game of Thrones again. I loved the show for most of the time! Almost all of it! It doesn't seem right to write it off entirely, not when there was so much to love over the years...

... you wouldn't know it by the pictures I'm providing but I even mean stuff besides Kit Harington taking his clothes off. There was Richard Madden taking his clothes off, Pedro Pascal taking his clothes off, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau taking his clothes off, Alfie Allen taking his clothes off, Jacob Anderson taking his clothes off, Michiel Huisman taking his clothes off...

... and now we can have all of these scenes in 4K? Sign me
the hell up! Hit the jump for the full press release...

Good Morning, Michiel

.
I hadn't been sure I was going to post this new Michiel Huisman photo-shoot for Schön! magazine (via) because as they doled out the photos one by one, despite Michiel being Michiel, it wasn't especially grabbing me... that is until the above photo presented itself, and the short shorts decided for me. I am only as strong as the short shorts let me be! These are presumably still part of the PR push for Michiel's cult movie (as in it is about a cult) The Other Lamb, which has been available to stream for a few weeks now -- any of you seen it? I saw it and thought it very pretty (Michiel included) but not much else. Just one of those movies that affected me little either way. If Michiel had worn those short shorts the whole time maybe I'd have had other ideas. Alas! Hit the jump for the rest of this shoot...

Hallelujah Michiel Huisman Amen

.
They're probably going to have to work overtime to convince me that being part of a polygamist cult where I get to have sex with Michiel Huisman every once in awhile is a bad thing, but that's just what the trailer for the new horror flick The Other Lamb is straining to do -- lots of spooky girls and bloody mouths and sinister implications and the like. And then there's Michiel Huisman...

... standing there making me think to myself that "Well... maybe stabbing a couple of nosy nosersons wouldn't be that bad." Life is a series of compromises, y'all! Some are worse than others! Anyway as an aside when we look back at this period of Horror Films the overarching "Cult" vibe will be strong right? Makes sense to me.
.

.
The Other Lamb is out on in NYC & LA April 3rd.

Michiel Huisman Takes Flight

.
I think we have found the limits to my Michiel Huisman devotion, you guys. It runs deep and it runs strong but I don't think it runs quite as deep or quite as strong as my total mind and body aversion to the actress Kaley Cuoco, who is the opposite magnet to my own -- she repels me away instantaneously and with sudden, great force. Anyway when I read (thx Mac) that his next role is opposite that person on a series for HBO called The Flight Attendant -- read the details at this link, I can't expend the energy; writing this close to that person is making me weak -- I got very sad. So I went and looked at some gifs of Michiel in Red Sea Diving Resort and I felt a little less sad. Hey, at least we've got that action movie with Mary Elizabeth Winstead to look forward to!

When Michiel Met Mary

.
The most beautiful man in the world has gotten a new job! Michiel Huisman of Game of Thrones and The Haunting of Hill House fame, who was most recently seen running around with Chris Evans in a speedo and less, is going to co-star opposite the amazing and seriously under-valued Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Kate, an action flick that has Winstead playing a bad-ass assassin who has 24 hours to find and get her revenge on the man who poisoned her. 24 hours cuz she dies in 24 hours, see? Très Crank.

Anyway Variety doesn't say who Huisman is playing, if he's playing the poisoner, or maybe just the most beautiful man in the world, or perhaps both -- who knows? All I do know is that I went looking for a new picture of Michiel to go along with this news and I found not just the remainder of that Man About Town shoot we shared a couple shots from nearly an entire year ago -- I also found a video that went with the shoot, which I went and giffed the hell out of. See it all after the jump...

Good Morning, World

.
Once upon a time, believe it or not, the thirst contingent of the internet was sort of contained, and my site would be the very first place I'd see images of this sort -- this "sort" specifically here meaning Chris Evans naked in the film Red Sea Diving Resort, which we mentioned yesterday just hit Netflix. Yes, really. I'd search hard, a decade ago, and some things were mine all mine, at least for a minute.
.
But now what with social media making all of this easy for everybody, well, just search Twitter and you'll see Chris' fuzzy side-haunch every place, a million times over, whereas I haven't even had the chance to watch the movie yet. I don't complain about this! It's a great big gratuitous world out there, and I'm proud of us all for it. Be the heaven you wanna be, y'all.

A Red Sea Reminder

.
Red alert, or whatever -- Netflix's Red Sea Diving Resort movie, starring Chris Evans and Michiel Huisman and Alessandro Nivola as a group of Israeli agents trying to smuggle Somali refugees to safety, is out on Netflix today. Watch it here. And for lots more from me on the subject of this film, i.e. lots of pictures and screaming about these actors being spectacular visions of manliness...

... well you can go right ahead and click through our archives. I haven't been able to watch it myself yet, and I probably won't be able to until this weekend, but uhh....

Pics of the Day

.
A new batch of photos from Netflix's imminent action-drama Red Sea Diving Resort with Chris Evans, Michiel Huisman, Haley Bennett, and Alessandro Nivola have been released (honestly I'm not sure via where; I found them bouncing around on Twitter -- if I find a source I'll update this) including that above shot, which, uhhh....

... I gonna need a moment. Moment. Moment. Moment. Moment. Okay. Breathing again; moving on. We shared the trailer for this film with you at this link -- it hits Netflix this Wednesday! As in just a couple of days! I'm even seeing reviews pop up, but I'm ignoring them for now. Hit the jump for a few more pictures from the film...

Early Day Diving Buddies

.
I am not going to post it here myself because it looks like Netflix is taking it down everywhere but if you'd like to see the trailer for their upcoming action-drama Red Sea Diving Resort starring Chris Evans and Michiel Huisman...

... and Alessandro Nivola...

... and did I mention Michiel Huisman...

... it looks like it's still making the rounds on Tumblr; it looks like Netflix's New Zealand Twitter account tweeted the thing out before they were supposed to. The tweet's been taken down but the internet is forever. Hopefully Netflix goes and drops a better quality copy ASAP because this movie is set to drop at the end of July anyway, and also I need these pictures in hi-def immediately. If they do release it soon I'll update this post, but if you've missed our previous posts on this movie click here.
.
ETA oh wait they have released the trailer finally:
.
.
Ahh that is much better.
Now I can see Michiel's short shorts!

Now That's How You Advertise

.
Via USA Today yesterday alongside a bunch of their forthcoming shit Netflix has released the first glimmer of footage from The Red Sea Diving Resort, the timely tale of a Sudanese rescue mission in the 1980s that stars Chris Evans and Michiel Huisman and Alessandro Nivola and are you hyperventilating yet, cuz I am, it's hot in here. Anyway  as seen above they slapped their film's title across a half-naked Chris Evans and that, my friends, is how you make people remember your film's title. I mean would I rather see that without the title slapped across him? Of course. But now I'll be watching.

Oh who am I kidding, I've been posting about this thing for months, I was always watching. But now you're watching, and this stuff is aimed at the not quite as psychotically obsessive as I. Can we zoom in on the above image for a second though...

Hey there, Michiel.
TRSDR hits Netflix on July 31st.

Good Morning, World

.
A happy 38 to the great and proven true good fella Chris Evans -- now with the Marvel movies behind him (most probably) his IMDb page actually looks interesting for the first time in quite some time! First up he's got Knives Out, Rian Johnson's new flick that we told you is one of our most anticipated 2019 titles -- you can read our several series of posts on that movie here. Then there's The Red Sea Diving Resort, which Netflix just recently picked up, and which has him starring opposite Alessandro Nivola and Michiel Huisman and a shot of me hyperventilating in a movie theater. See my previous posts on that one here. Other projects include a movie from Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer that has Chris as the only living descendant of Dr. Jekyl (called Jekyl) and a limited TV series about a father trying to figure out if his son committed murder called Defending Jacob, and then also on top of that a sci-fi tinged story called Infinite about visions and past lives from director Antoine Fuqua. So Marvel gave him lots of money, and Marvel gave him the star power to get a ton of projects lined up, and on top of all of that he gets to be Chris Evans... sigh. I should just go back to bed.
