Electronic Arts is reportedly paying $680 million to acquire mobile game maker Jamdat. EA has had a presence in mobile for some time now, but evidently wants to expand; picking up the biggest mobile publisher out there is obviously the easiest way. The sale is set to be completed by the end of the company's fiscal year end (March of 2006), with Jamdat chief executive slated to command the massive mobile juggernaut.

Will EA eventually own everything? Only time will tell. This news is almost on par with the company's securing of NFL licensing exclusivity one year ago. It's not as likely to tick off the gaming public, however.
