Stitch Me Up!

I signed up!

For my very first blog hop.
I'm so excited!
If you'd like to join in check out
for all the details.

I was busy being Grandma this week.
Watched the 3 youngest grandkids while Mommy and
Daddy are on a (much needed) sunny vacation.
What a joy getting all those angel kisses.
Here is a picture of the art project we made.

Could not get them to look at the camera,
smile and hold up their signs.
One things for sure.....
Grandmas need a nap everyday to.

I just have to finish binding my
 "rescued" nine patch.
 Oh,what a beauty!
Wait til you see......

Summer Love

Finally, it feels like summer.

And looks like summer.

Bird Feeders out.

 Planters filled.
Baskets hung.

 Flag flying.
Oh happy day!
**************

Here is the May Birdee BOM.
I know, I'm a little late.
June is already posted.
I'm going to catch up soon.
Since last weekend I pulled a tendon in my foot
and have been sitting with an ice pack.
Poop, I hate getting old!
But, I'm fun to look at-wobble-wobble-wobble.

 **************

Have you seen what's going on over at Kelly's?

It looks like fun.
Be sure and check it out.

A Winning Week

Wow, what a week for "Winning"

American Idol
Celebrity Apprentice (yeah, John Rich)
and
ME.
Yes, ME!

This is the box I received from
Madame Samm (Sew I Quilt).
Filled to the brim with goodies.
I won her give away last week.
I can't wait to use my new I-Tool
and cover me some buttons.
Thank you so much Madame Samm.
Like she said,"You are only as good as your tools"!

Which brings me to my give away winner.

23 comments were left and #10
is the winner.
Mary Engelbreit goodies headed to Florida.

We are off to Milwaukee this morning to celebrate
the Memorial Day weekend with the grandbabies.
There's never a dull moment with all six of them

On Monday, we will attend the
Memorial Day Service
held at the Veterans Hospital.
To remember
those who have died in our nation's service.

Stay safe.

Left Overs & A Give Away

Don't ya just love left overs!
Whether it be food or fabric.

Does this red work look familiar?

 In March
Debbie at Busy As Can Be
offered this free embroidery pattern.
I stitched it on a tea towel
only to discover that it was waaay
too pretty to get dirty.
(Picture grandson, running in, wiping his
cute little dirty-grubby hands on it).
So, I cut the tea towel and used my leftover fabrics
from my red work quilt to make this table topper.
It measures about 25" and so cute on my table!

There was even enough left over
bias binding to finish it off!

Thanks again Debbie for the pattern!

And speaking of cute......
 Mary Engelbreit's
Bowl of Cherries fabric with polka dots.

 And cook book.

Just leave a comment and
I'll try real hard to draw your name
and send both,
1 yard of fabric and the cookbook, to you.

P.S. I'll draw Saturday morning before I head out of town!

We Have A Winner Here!

Did you think I forgot about you?
I drew the winners Sunday morning
and had good intentions of posting.
BUT.......
.
life got in the way!

On Saturday we went to see my granddaughter play
in her first-ever basketball tournament.
She was so nervous!
But after "settling down" the team did GREAT!
No girls sports back in the
covered wagon days when I went to school.
I'm so proud of her!

And now what you really stopped in to see.

The winner is number 2...
Kris from Simplify!

And number 13!
John'aLee from The Scrappy Appleyard.
Ladies, send me an em
ail with your address
and I'll get your pin cushion in the mail.

We had a huge snowfall overnight.
It sure looks like Christmas!
Ready or not here it comes!

What a Surprise!

Oh, what a surprise to come home last night and
find over 75 emails in my inbox!
75!
My first thought, I've been "spammed".
Then I realized
Anne Sutton from Bunny Hill Desi
gns
had posted about my give away on her blog.
A real-live celebrity had visited my
blog!
C-leb-ber-ty, oh my, heart be still.
Thank you sooooo much Anne.
I'm honored.

A Warm Welcome, to all my new friends.
It is so nice to meet you.
I hope to hop over to your blogs and say hello soon.

It took me awhile to get my list ready for the drawing.
My hubby did the honors.
Drum Roll Please..................

Carolyn (Lee Prairie)
I wish I could send each and everyone of you something!

Denise (Count it *all* Joy)
Ladies, please send me an email with your
address and I will get your gifts in the mail
on Wednesday.

I want to show you my Vintage Baskets quilt top-
minus the borders. I'm still giving those some thought.
Not sure what I want to do.
I'm going to use my left over reds, creams & whites to piece
together my chain blocks for Snowbound.
I love scrappy quilts.
The more fabrics the better.

And this is my next project.
"Over the River and Through the Woods"
(Crab-apple Hill) in Fall colors.
I'm on the 2 year plan.
A year to stitch and piece, another year to get it quilted.
My quilts are always the last to get quilted.

I must confess.
I'm a "ONE TRICK PONY".
After years of counted cross stitch,
embroidery, candle wicking (showing my age with that one).
I've decided that:

1. I don't like to change thread colors. I'm lazy.
2. I love to do what I call the stem stitch.
Easier for me to keep the stitches even. I'm terrible at the back stitch.
3. I love Perle cotton #8 in place of floss. No twisting & knotting.
4. I want it to be "mindless" so I can stitch watching TV or a movie
and feel I'm not wasting my time completely.
5. And did I mention, I'm getting lazy in my old age?

It's hotter than blazes here.
But at least you don't have to shovel heat.

Hugs, and thanks again.

150th Post Give Away!

Can you believe it?
150 posts.
Hard to believe I had that much to write.
Let alone lovely friends who read them.
To let you know how much I appreciate the time
you take to stop in and visit
I'd like to give you some of my time.
After all, isn't that what life's all about?
Time.

I am going to give away a set of
SnowBound Red Work blocks.
The last 5 blocks will be mailed out monthly
as they become available.
The winner will have enough blocks for a
QUILT
by the end of the year!

This is a free BOM from Bunny Hill Designs.
Check it out....cute, huh?

To enter the drawing, just leave a comment.
If you are a "follower", or become a follower,
let me know and I will enter your name twice.

And please, don't be shy,
post about my give away on your blog

and I will enter you in a special drawing

for a set of hand crocheted edged
pink pillowcases.

That's 3 chances to WIN!

The drawing is noon Saturday, July 24th.
** Sorry I have to change the drawing date**
I'm heading out of town to play Grandma,
and won't be back til Sunday.
For sure, Monday morning I'll post the winner!

Thanks again for stopping in.
I really-really appreciate your time.

Hugs,

Valentine Kisses

Cookies that just SCREAM
Happy Valentine's Day!

Macaroon Kisses

Made these for our "Sew Day" at the Quilt Shop.
They were a BIG-BIG hit,
if you love coconut.
I can't believe how many ladies don't care for it.

The green depression glass cake stand was
given to me by my Grandma Cottrell.
I get my love for pretty dishes from her.

Give them a try. Sweets for your Sweetheart.
The recipe makes about 4 dozen.

Here's the last apron in my give away.
Just leave a comment to enter.
I've had a few emails asking where I find my cute apron fabrics.

The fabric above, both the print and polka dots, is from Hobby Lobby.
The cupcake fabrics were from JoAnn's.
And the Michael Miller "Fifties Kitchen" was from the quilt shop.
The line came out, I guess, 5 years ago?
Available now on EBay.

And for this week's winner...

YEAH PAM!!

On the quilting front....
I'm having machine (longarm) trouble.
Can you believe it?
I had to replace the "mother board"
and a few other electronics.
Of course the warranty ran out last summer.
Just my luck.

I hope the weather is being kinder to you where you're at.
We had a million inches of snow fall the past two days.
As my Grandson says:
"Snow, snow
Go away
Aiden wants to go out to play!"

Have a great Sweethearts Day.
It's the Olive Garden and a girly movie for us.

Hugs,
