Took on a little challenge

Brenda Swenson offered up a challenge of
doing 75 sketches in ink only (no pencil) in
75 days. Mmmmmm harder than I thought.
No way to erase makes it much more of a challenge.
Here are my first attempts.

This has been not a piece of cake but I
shall keep trying. I shall eventually add a little watercolor
to them. Anything will help...  :-)
We are having beautiful weather and I am loving it.
Check out her fantastic blog.

Next Painting,Not Your Normal Frog...

Here is my painting for 30 painting in 30 days.
Meet Archibald my cement frog with an
attitude. He is very chubby and lives in my
garden in the summer and my studio in
the winter. He is a watercolor.
I also joined a Flickr group called
The Sketching Diet. Lots of fun. Thought I'd
show you what I've done so far.
Jan.1st
Jan.2nd
Jan.3rd
Jan.4th
I don't think one has to do the Sketching Diet
everyday, I just was having a little fun with it.
As for Archibald , well he wasn't very cooperative
and I found him a bit difficult to paint.
Ever onward.

A few watercolor sketches

Quick sketch of Edmonds, WA lighthouse while
on the ferry to Whidbey Island.
Mostly pen and ink with
watercolor washes.
Another painting for Black Dog.
Both of these were photographed under glass, so had
to take at a strange angle to avoid glare.

Sketching Some Flowers

I am always happy when I find  the tiny wild violets
growing in the shade near the woods. They are just
precious.
I planted Hollyhock seeds last year and they
grew...but no flowers. When they popped
up this year they decided to bloom. I
was unaware that they usually wait
for the second year to bloom.
What a sweet surprise.

EDiM for May 17th,18th,19th and 20th

Draw some bread-write about it.

Draw a nearby body of water.
.         The pond  & waterfall outside
                                                                    my window.

Draw your artspace.
This is part of my drafting
table where I paint.
Draw a street light.
This is on a parkway I was driving on
one dark windy night. It was beautiful
but didn't give off much light..

Once again I am playing catch up as I had
to go into the big city of Seattle Friday.
I don't like driving into Seattle because
something always happens and DH rolls
his eyes and always says, "Only to you would
this happen!"  I shall try to post about my
adventure of the big city soon. It is
good for a laugh.....

Resident Chipmunk

Today was sunny and warm so I decided to do a
little outdoor sketching. It didn't take long for
our resident chipmunk to pose (as long as the
sunflower seeds and peanuts kept coming). He is
quite a character and will let me know
when the supply is running low!
So now to the water colors. I suppose he will want
to get his two cents in on that.
