My Book of Days

I have started a new watercolor journal.
I am calling it My Book of Days. The book will
consist of different days or events that will
 bring back memories for me.
Such as my trip to LaConner and dining with the seagulls.
Or maybe the fact that we have had little to no rain.So it
becomes an event when it happens.
I swear I saw the flowers turn their little heads upward to catch the raindrops.
I am still doing the 75 sketches in ink everyday but a girl has to
have a little color every now and then. Therefore the journal.
Hope you are all having a great weekend. I am off to sketch the
 Festival at Mount Si.

Another New Journal.

The person who bought the last journal asked me
to make another.  This is a terrible photo as the glare
of the finish distorts the depth of the colors. It has
extremely vibrant colors. Could be the fault of
the photographer as she (me) was in to much of
a hurry. I had to run outside and take down all
my hanging flower baskets as it was snowing.
I was tricked into thinking it really was warming
up. After all it was in the 70's. Now it's in the
30's. I had spent the week planting all these
lovely baskets with annuals. Now they are all
huddled in the corner of the deck under a
warm blanket. I give up. What's a girl
to do......

The Great Blue Heron

About a week ago I went for a walk about the property and well
you can read the rest above. So I started these pages for my journal.
Unfortunately  I've  "been down for the count" as one would say.
No not the flu or cold but very painful stomach pains. After
rolling about the bed for three days I was "taken" to the doctor.
Tests were run, (many tests) and so far everything is coming
back normal. One more test result to go.....
Now really I feel fine except for the stomach pains.
Kinda takes the wind out of my sails so to speak.
But I am still alive and somewhat kicking. Thanks to all
for your concern. YES I wish I had been doing some
magnificent  thing such as.....mmmmm at a painting class
in Italy, cooking lessons with a famous chef , laying in the sun
on some far off island, you get the drift. I must say Teddy my
loyal Bichon stayed by my side every second, starring at me
with those big brown eyes. I swear he took my pulse a couple
of times. Anyway I don't like writing "non fun" stuff so I shall close
for now. Teddy wants to watch a rerun of Downton Abbey. He's
addicted. Have a great weekend everyone of you.

Sketching Some Flowers

I am always happy when I find  the tiny wild violets
growing in the shade near the woods. They are just
precious.
I planted Hollyhock seeds last year and they
grew...but no flowers. When they popped
up this year they decided to bloom. I
was unaware that they usually wait
for the second year to bloom.
What a sweet surprise.

TGIF.....

My week started out wonderful
with a visit from my cousin who
lives in Oregon. She was on her
way home from a wedding and
came for  a fun. visit. She brought me gorgeous
flowers from the wedding. The roses actually
smelled like roses.
We went to dinner at a  Chinese Restaurant and
then rode over to see the falls in Snoqualmie.
They are still roaring. That's from all the snow
pack we had. Just beautiful with the Salish Lodge
in the background.
I spent the rest of the week painting cards and
bookmarks, framing paintings for various shops.

Now I have deliveries to make.
Hope you all have a beautiful weekend.

Calendar Art

I have enjoyed Terri Kahrs calendar art
for 6 months now. Then I had a light bulb
moment.!! (duh) Since I am no good at
keeping a diary but always wonder what I
did last year at this time, I could join this
group and do a artsy type calendar. This
I could attempt. So thank you queen of the arts
Ms. Terri Kahrs over at Pringle Hill Studio
for alerting my grey cells to another fun project.
Drop over and see her calendar for May. It's a WOW!
Actually this was all started by Kate
who lives just North of London UK.
Drop by there to see her lovely blog.
So I am off and running on another fun project,
plus filling my Grow journal with watercolors
of what is growing around Wildflower.
Click on the photo's for a closer look at what is
happening in my "exciting" (yawn) life.
OOPS! I forgot to tell you what I used to
make this. I used Copic markers and Micron pens!

Triple Journal Page for Strathmore

Strathmore is doing this great journaling
project.  One of the ideas was to cut down
your journal pages. This made the
viewer more interested in what the
next page would show. Above is my
first page, below is my second and third.
I really had to think this out, figuring
how it would flow. The progression.
I enjoyed this idea a lot. Was really
happy when my journals finally arrived.
So now I play catch up!

Green Grow Journal Finished!!!

Just finished up this journal and thought you
might like to see what I did with my little
stitching piece.
I decided this would be a watercolor journal.
It has 60 pages of 140lb watercolor paper.
It measures 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, has a linen
cover with the hand embroidery with
vintage button and beads.
Just another fun project now back to organizing
my studio. Should be able to get my big
drafting table in today.... I hope, I hope, I hope!!!!

The Sketchbook Challenge for March

The challenge for March is spilling over. I am taking that
to mean as example a sketch spilling over into another
project. Such as a small fiber art quilt.
So this is my starting sketch that I have just started
work on. I am playing around with the idea of a
small quilted piece. We will see...
I love lilies and bought  many a week ago. I sit
here waiting for all the snow to melt, planning
my garden and decided to draw one. It was suggested to
try to look at the lily 80% of the time and at your
paper only 20% of the time. I wasn't to sure ,
but gave it a try. I think it works!!! Now back to
painting. I'll keep you posted as to my progress.
