Great puzzle pcs.- and a win from MWO!

The puzzle pieces have arrived! How much fun to open the package and find all these special "Pieces of Friendship". These are from a fun swap that Pat Winter started. Everyone was to make four puzzle pieces using the prescribed puzzle shape. It was fun to do and to receive such great little works of art.

Pat Winters piece. Such tiny detail and fantastic stitching. Remember you can click on the photos for close up looks. But please don't judge the photographer!

Next is from Freda B. Now my photo really doesn't do this one justice. It is filled with bright sparkles and shimmering fabric. There is depth to this one too.

Next is from Alice Topp. What wonderful colors and beautiful stitching. Love the little face with the ribbon bow and pearls.

Last but certainly not least is from Laurie Walton! Such delicate workmanship. I can't believe the tiny, tiny little stitches. Look at the hole with the delicate webbing stitch filling it.

This was so much fun. I can't wait until Fall when we do it again. Thank you Pat!

Lastly I was thrilled to win The Mind Wide Open Challenge. I was up against some very talented people. Thank you to everyone who voted for me and to Gail for having such wonderful challenges. This image really "spoke to me". Everyone should check out her blog. (on the right side , there is a button).

Time For the June Mind Wide Open Challenge!

Once again Gail has given us a delightful image to work with. I chose to make a chocolate brown velvet purse with silk embroidery and glass beads. She had given the word "wish" to be or not to be used. I had a tiny gold charm with the word "wish" so I added it. You can click on the purse for a closer look at the purse. What do you think the little girl is wishing for? Drop over to Gail's and see all the entries and vote if you like.

Mind Wide Open Challenge for April

Gail has given us a lovely image for the April challenge. It just spoke to me, so I made this little purse using silk dupioni, some wonderful lace and trims, silk ribbons and lots of beading. I made some silk yo yo's with pearl centers and added a 3 inch swinging trim. Ah yes and a little jeweled bee. Lined it with silk and added a silk like cording. I love the faded look of this image. It is ready for a tea party don't you think. Drop on over to Mind Wide Open and see all the creative entries. I would sure love your vote.

Mind Wide Open Challenge

click on her to enlarge

Gail over at Mind Wide Open is having her March challenge. She gave us all a delightful image of a woman and we were supposed to take that image and create something. She also gave us a word to use if we wish to. The word was journey. So I created a small journal and called it, My Life's Journey". Drop over to Gail's and see what everyone has created and vote if you like. She should have all the entries up sometime today.

The Challenge

I just finished the challenge put out by Gail at Mind Wide Open. What a lovely image she put out. I made this into a needle & scissors case for my embroidery. It was great fun but I must admit nothing (and I mean nothing) else got done around here. :-)!

Forgive the emptiness of this blog as I just got started today and everything is so new. Giving the old gray cells a workout. I discovered this blog from a note from Pat Winter at Gatherings. She has a lovely blog and is so helpful with crazy quilt questions. I wish she lived closer I'd take a class from her. I really consider her my mentor. What a neat lady!

I guess I should return to the garden and pond. The weeds are prolific and the fish are hungry !

The sun is shining so I have no excuse. So off I go........
