This is the second watercolor journal. It is described in my last post.

That's what I've been up to since 98 degrees is a little to hot for
me. I do run out and fill the birdbaths and feeders for my fine
feathered friends. I have a chickadee that has delivered a batch
in the birdhouse right off our deck. She is exhausted trying to feed
them all. Yesterday one baby appeared at the opening and he was huge.
I fear he better fly soon or he won't be able to get out.
He is twice the size of his momma.
Life is always amazing to me.

I've Been Creating and Healing

Here are my two nurses, Max and Cooper. They
have been taking good care of me while I go to
physical therapy and an osteopath. I was in pain
and they discovered  (MRI) that I have 6 twisted
vertebrae.  Long story short PT has really helped
and I am improving. Should be after 4 1/2 months
of PT,
Enough said, on to more creative things. I saw this
made with acrylics (sorry can't remember by who)
and so I made my own version using
watercolors and changing the insides.
I painted, sewed and glued, finishing it with a
protective coating of Polycrylic put on very
carefully.
This is the front cover. It has sari silk with hand-
made paper beads attached to the tag. The tag
 has a velcro closer.
The back with paint and stitching.
Opened up with side pockets on each side and two
sewn books (60 pages in all) of 70 lb drawing paper.
The back (inside) The booklets on each side,

Six 4 by 6 mixed media 90 lb papers in side
pocket.
In the other side pocket there are 2
140 lb 4 by 6 watercolor papers and
5 blank artist trading cards 2.5 by 3.5
140 lb watercolor paper.
Sari silk with handmade paper beads attached
to the tag opening.
Lots of paper, different weights and sizes to
have fun with.
All enclosed in this  8 1/2 by 7 inch  when closed
journal. Open it is 17 3/4 inch by 7.
I have two made so will show the other in a day or two
plus some other small journals I just finished.
Hope you all are enjoying your summer.
We here in WA have been very hot and little to no rain.
So we are on constant fire watch.
Never thought I'd say this but paleez rain!

Another Where Have I Been.......

I have been busily making small journals to sell
at the shop in Snoqualmie. Filled with 140 lb.
watercolor paper.
Used some of my handmade paper beads.
Have been asked to do a painting of Mt. Si.
Still trying to get a good photo. I think this photo
looks like a large meatloaf.....
Went to eastern Washington to have lunch with a friend.
Saw this wonderful old church, will try a sketch &
watercolor later.
And last put not least, drum roll paleez
Max and Cooper.
They are not happy with me because they had
to get extremely short haircuts.
They got wet and matted up so........ off with
their long furry coats. At least I can see their eyes now.
They won the heart of their groomer. They were very
good considering this was their first complete
haircut. I keep telling them it will grow.
Next week it's off to the vet for a snip snip.
I wonder if they will ever speak to me again.

The rains have returned and the leaves are
turning and falling. We still get some
beautiful days but I feel it in my bones "old man winter"
is coming round the bend.
Hope all is well with you and what have you all
been up to.

Starting a New Journal

I took Mary Ann Moss' class
Remains of the Day for making a fun
different journal. But I never really
knew what I wanted to put in it. I decided
that some off it, maybe all would be things
I find around Wildflower. So here
are my first 2 pages which I did in
watercolor and pen and ink of what is
blooming right now. It was fun to go
 all over the property discovering
wonderful little plants popping up.
I shall have to date these pages for
reference sake.
My EDIM will be back in a day or two.
In the mean time check out Mary Ann's
class if you like. She is great fun!

More Japanese Paper Journals and Sunshine

Spent time dying more Kozo and Tengucho
papers yesterday. Designed a new journal, added watercolors
and the dyed papers to come up with these
journal covers.

Decided to photograph them before they were glazed.
That way you can see the vibrant colors better.
Glazed and bound.
By the way , the weather is now hot and sunny and plants are back outside.
I guess our little snowstorm was just a quirk.
You will find me in the garden either
painting or weeding!!!!

it with you. I dyed Japanese Kozo  and Tengucho
papers adding them to my design. The finish I  put on is
polycrylic. !00 pages (both sides).

Back side. Love the colors of this journal.
So vibrant.
It is sold.

My Lapin

Ever onward on my little journal journey.
While sitting and watching out the window the other day
I saw my first lapin emerge from under the bushes. I do
believe they have there own little
"Watership Down" there as that is where they all head after
their evening feasts. I've had friends watching them and ask
how I trained them to just eat the grass and not my flowers. LOL
The older ones just know better and well the babies are renegades
on occasion. It is fun to sit in the yard and watch these sweet creatures.
They have the most beautiful eyes, darling ears and cute noses.

On another note. All tests are back and they found nothing.
Having just had a colonoscopy  they were concerned
that I may have picked up a bug at the hospital. If I
did it's gone now. Yipee. So I am slowly getting
back on track. Thanks for all your comments and
emails. They mean a lot to me.

Sewing Delicious Colored Journals

I just love these colors with the mixture of
batiks, hand dyes and Sari silks. I wish
my photo's would show the shimmer
of the silks.

More Batik, hand dyes and Sari silks make up these
Remains of the Day journals. I really enjoy
sewing these.

Three Handmade Journals

Sitting quietly for the past 17 days I was able
to finish up a few journals for the Black Dog Event.
After Friday I hope to list some on my Etsy.
I pretty much used batiks and hand dyed fabrics.
Used some of my handmade fabric beads.
back side.
Added some crazy stitches here and there.
back side
I love the tie " arounds" as you never have to
worry about your journal getting to fat as
the tie are made to go around several times.
I found these lots of fun to make . Very freeing!
Each journal has different papers in them for
different types of journals.
So that's what I have been doing.
What have you been up to...?!

Fancy Fun Journal

"Art is your personal diary where you may color your thoughts and emotions on a page"
Created this fun journal and dressed it up
with bows and ribbons.
Makes one feel very creative just looking at it.
Has regular pages and tab pages for adding those
creative little bits you have just laying around
(that need to go in a journal) so you don't lose them.
I have taken several wonderful classes from
Martha Lever, she has so many fun classes. She put
me onto the machine for making these journals
and she suggested the bows, etc. Thank you Martha!
Will list on Etsy, with more info.

Journal Making!

Have spent the last few days making journals.
I like spiral bound ones for working in as they
lay flat. (and I can cram a lot of stuff in them).
The ones above I put on my Etsy.
But not to worry I have one or two
made for myself. A girls gotta do what a
girls gotta do. Right!
Wishing you all a Happy Fourth filled with good weather for everyone.

After the Big Bird....

After the big day and all the trimmings one
must have a day of rest.(Maybe two days) :-)
Then prepare treats for our deer friends who
 love apples and pears.
They came in a downpour of rain but didn't seem
to mind as long as there were goodies to eat.
Then I got down to business and finished up some Christmas
gifts I had been working on. ( I am making my gifts
this year... I wonder what came over me).
Plus I had this journal/photo album to finish for my
Wildflowerhouse shoppe and  one for my Etsy.
I hope you all had a great holiday !
Ho Ho Ho how many days until Christmas...
Not enough that's for sure!!!!!
