Filling My Journals

This is a page I just finished  for my Sketchbook Diet journal group.
My son is a vegetarian and loves this recipe. So do I.

This is Madison Alexander.
I sketched him from a quilt I am making honoring this sweet cat.
I am using this sketch and painting for my Documented Life Project, this week.
Which was: Monochromatic: use shades tints and hues of one color.
Hard to tell but this is all blues. Camera just didn't catch it.

Here is the quilt I am working on.
It is called
"The Many Moods of Madison"
In case you are interested here is the story of Madison
in a nutshell.

Busy week ...All Caught UP Now ...I Think!

Had a lot of painting to do today and I like to play music while I paint.
So I came across this video with this wonderful dog and the puppies really liked it
so I played it over and over while they listened and fell asleep. I love the video
especially when they rescued that dog and he had a great lunch sitting
there on the bench. Didn't hurt that they have wonderful voices. So I share
it with you, I know you'll like it. There are dogs in it, whats not to like!
Now for catching up...
The bird above was for the Documented Life Project week 11
Collage a bird onto your page.
Week12 DLP Cut up magazines-add to page
week 12 continued
Week 13 DLP Ask someone else to draw on your page- then finish it.
My son drew the Crab Pit and left me to finish it... his sense of humor, sorry Brad
Week 14 DLP write your name and embellish it.
So now I am all caught up.
Puppies are a joy and so full of energy.

Sorry for such a long post......what's a girl gonna do.

Documented Life Project for week 9 (wee bit late)

For this week we were suppose to
collage something you have recycled.
So first the Savage Beagle matchbook. I
picked this up at  their restaurant in
Whistler Village, BC while on a ski trip
many moons ago. I just loved the name!
Also added recycled watercolor papers
from a painting I did and didn't like. So I
cut it up into circles and added them along
with left over Japanese papers I had.
YES I am a pack rat.
and
So now I am all caught up.
And for those who want to know...
5 DAYS AND COUNTING BEFORE THE PUPPIES COME HOME.

If your wondering where week 9 is... well I am still working on it
Buying the puppies got in the way.
One week to go before they come home.

Documented Life Project week 8

  1. This week we were to add a flap to our flap
  2. in our journal
  3. Well it has been raining and very gray
  4. here in Washington so I went
  5. for the color. Let my watercolors
  6. go where they wanted.
  7. I added a little flap that held a tag.
  8. On the front it said,
  9. "Just when the caterpillar thought
  10. the world was over it
  11. became a butterfly"

  1. When you open the flap the other side of
  2. the tag says,
  3. "Colors are the smiles of nature."
Hopefully we shall see some bright cheery colors
soon instead of rainy gray. But I shouldn't fuss when
I think of all my snowy blogging friends.
Must be getting a little old by now.
There is snow above me at the pass. They have had to do avalanche
control and I can hear the guns go off at night sometimes.
They are working hard to keep I-90 safe.

Chester is back and up to no good!

Sorry the picture was taken through the window at a "moving target".
Yes Chester has returned and now spends his time batting
at the birds as they come for food. He keeps looking for his
arch enemy Teddy and then he looks at me as if to say , Where's the Ted".
I think the little fellow misses him as I do.
Next we have my Document Life Project for week 7.
We were to draw one shape - repeat - add color.
Circles was the choice for me.
And the last  of my cards went off to Black Dog for sale.
Now I have to start thinking bunnies for Easter. :-)

Documented Life Project Week 6

We were to go to our Pinterest boards and find someone or thing who
you like and  create something  from that influence. This was a no
brainer for me! I have admired Martha Lever's art for years and have
taken several of her classes. This is a painting I did today. This is
from a  class teaching color drop flowers.
Once I started I spent the rest of my afternoon making cards.
I know I should be organizing my studio but this was
more fun. They are such happy little flowers.

Week 5 of DLP and a few other things.

Week 5 of Documented Life Project and
it was "Doodle a Border". Right up my alley as
I love to doodle.
The sun was out for a little while today and I noticed my tulips
starting to peak through. I am getting the gardening itch way
to early. Dear me I am in trouble. Dreaming of my blue  Hydrangeas
Way to cold to be thinking of gardening.... better doodle some more

Late to the party but giving it a try...

I was looking around at blogs a few days ago and
I came upon The Documented Life Project. Of
course it started a few weeks ago so  am
late to the party but thought it would be fun to try.
Each week you are given a prompt of what to do
in your journal. Funny I had already purchased the
journal they suggested. So I spent some time getting
it together .

Take a picture of your front door ,etc. week 1
week 2 take photo of yourself (selfie)
week3 use an envelope in your art
week 4
write a secret message, paint over it leaving
one key word showing.

OK I didn't have much time to play catch up but
I am having fun. Now I have a week to do week 5,
which is add a doodle border.

Confused? To read more about this project
you need to go here. They can explain it way better
than I can. Come and join in, it's a great excuse to
be in your studio, art table, wherever!
Week 5 Add A doodle border. I better get going!
