My Monday Thru Friday In A Nurshell

Monday started out pretty nice, getting to
have lunch with CJ and Tom on a
beautiful sunny day.
Then Tuesday happened and along came a
HUGE black bear. Teddy barked and
barked. That little dog was going to protect
me. Fortunately we were able to get into
the house. (I  am not to good at painting bears
and I really didn't think he would stay still
 for me to draw him.LOL)
So on to Wednesday.
After Teddy's run in with the bear I felt he
deserved a spa day.
My little hero!
On Thursday Washington Fish and Wildlife came to
access the HUGE bear problem. They want to give it
2 weeks to see if it comes back. If it does they will
try a catch and a hard release on him. That is where
Mishka the Karelian Bear Dog comes in. Mishka is a \
beautiful dog who belonged to Rocky Spencer, who was tragically
killed in a helicopter accident in 2007. He was a dear friend and is missed.
Mishka now lives with Bruce Richards who works for the fish and game
dept. Mishka is a bear dog and his training is the best. You can
read what they do on the wdfw.wa.gov site. Just google bear dog.
It was good to see Mishka again.
Friday I had lunch with the posse. We ate a
Pallino Pasteria and yes this time I broke
my diet. "me bad" But it was sooooooo good!
Today Saturday I am cleaning house all day. :-(
And watching for bear!
Happy weekend.

Better Late Than Never...I Think

I am late for a very important date!
That being my July calendar  with
Kathryn Wheel.
Life got in the way but here it is.
As you might see the last few days have been a bit
exciting. First fire watch went up to dangerous level
Sunday. I always get a little nervous when that
starts. Then last night my hero TEDDY let me know
that there was a HUGE  B-E-A-R below our deck.
I grabbed Teddy and got in the house just as the
bear came around to the deck stairs. He was not
at all frightened of us. Game department is
coming tomorrow to access the situation. They
caught one 2 years ago in our driveway and shipped him North
over the Cascades. The bear problem has really
escalated in the last year or two.
I no longer feel safe on the property
as they do not seem to fear us at all.
Here is my June calendar . As you can see
it wasn't filled out to well. I got tired of painting
clouds and raindrops. LOL That's my excuse
and I'm sticking with it.

Visit Kathryn Wheels blog to see all the calendars
people have made. You may have to scroll down a bit as
I am late. You can click on her button on the right.

Gardening Has been a Little Tough These Days.....

With help like this it may take a little longer
to put the gardens to bed this year!
Photo: Black bear mother and cub
Mother black bears are notoriously protective of their cubs, who stay with their mothers for about two years.Photograph by Norbert Rosing.

Yes she is back with her two cubs and having quite a time.
We are being over run with bears this Fall and the game dept.
has their hands full. To top it off we also have a
rather large pussy cat" visiting all of us.

Needless to say Teddy is kept on a leash and
not terribly happy about it.
They come at all hours day and night. One must feel
sorry for them as they are hungry and winter is  really
getting close. We had ice on our deck this morning.
Soon the bears will be napping I hope and their tummies full.
So I guess I will head for the studio and create something.
Hope you all are having a lovely "safe" Sunday!

I TRIED TO KEEP IT A SECRET...

But they all found out! They must have seen my invitation from Terri...I could hear them all talking and planning.... they were giggling and so happy... I could hear them swishing about, getting ready, dressing up for this special day....wearing their most fancy hats and outfits.....

They even brought their own teapot and cups to add to mine....they were so excited over the purple M & M's that I had to tell them to get a grip...

that this was a very special lady we were about to honor.... yes they knew that so let's party!!!!!!!!!

So they all posed for the group shot, the best they could just to say......
