Birthday Owl

Ok, so seriously, this Stamp of the Month set is cute.

I inked it up the day it arrived...

I paired the What A Hoot!  stamp set with the new Chalk It Up papers, and colored the owl with a combination of our new ShinHan Touch Twin alcohol markers and some of our old ones.  (funny how the darker blue is showing in the pic, as it is a teal color in real life)

I will definitely be playing with this set more!

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH):
Paper:  Chalk It Up; White Daisy CS
Stamps:  What A Hoot!, Belated Birthday

Embellishments:  Black Arrow Washi Tape, Chalk It Up Assortment

I'm Back... with Moxie Fab!

I finally am able to do a little paper crafting.  Yay!
My eyes are getting a little better each day, although I still feel I have a long way to go to be more back to normal.
And they still tire easily.  So by afternoon, they are quite blurry.
Just need to give myself time to heal.  ;)

Anyways, on to my card.
I created this one for the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World.

Hopefully it is in focus for you, as it looks a little blurry to me.  lol

I used this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for the card layout.

I'm going to keep it short today.

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Dream Pop papers; White Daisy CS
Stamp:  Fabulous You
Inks:  Slate pigment, Juniper, Lagoon, Creme Brulee, Goldrush, Whisper; Creme Brulee marker
Embellishments:  Rosette Ribbon, Sparkle Trim, White Daisy RicRac - retired
Other:  Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Micro-tip Scissors, Waterbrush, ScorTape (ScorPal)

Inspired Birthday Card

My card was inspired by this card by Julie Overby.

Hers is beautiful, and mine turned out pretty okay.
I liked the one I envisioned in my head a little more than this one.
But that's just how it goes sometimes.   ;)

I will be away from my laptop for a little over a week on vacay in Yuma, AZ, so I won't be posting anything to my blog until after I get back home.
And the house-sitter doesn't papercraft, being that he is a oilfield mechanic, and wouldn't have a clue how to blog...  haha

I am looking forward to some hot temps of around 36C (96.8F), especially since it has gotten cold and snowy again here in Northeast BC, Canada, with temps around -18C (-0.4F) with a wind chill of -30C (-22F).
It's been a long winter, like they always seem to be.

Happy creating!  :)

Home is Where the Heart is... Bless This Nest

I recently bought some retired CTMH stamps from a now former CTMH Consultant, and one of them was Bless This Nest, which I used on this card.

I hap-hazardly stacked the bird houses in a quirky way to make this fun card, suitable for giving to someone who just moved or purchased a new home.

I added a little Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel to the little Bamboo heart.

And I stitched the Bamboo button onto the Olive twill faux bow.

Happy creating!  :)

Hello... {Inspired By Challenge #15}

This is my second post today, so please scroll down to see the other one.

...

I created this card for the Inspired By Challenge this week.

Here's the inspiration photo:

...do you have any idea how hard it was to actually use the {chocolate} eggs on my card and not eat them?

I know one day when I'm having a chocolate craving, I will regret it... lol

Yeah, it's an odd item to add to a card, but I just happened to have them, and they look super cute!  ;)

So I guess I'm okay with adding food onto my papercrafts...  hehe.

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Crystal Blue, Kraft, Buttercup, Colonial White CS
Stamps:  Universal Backgrounds, A Tweet, Wood Grain (Impression Obsession)
Inks:  Chocolate, Grey Flannel, Buttercup, Crystal Blue

Die:  Die-namics Faux Crochet border (My Favorite Things)

A Little Birdie Told Me...

I love how quickly a card comes together when I'm inspired by a sketch!

I used this week's Deconstructed Sketch #36.

Isn't it adorable?

I made my card 5x5 and used a new paper pack called Footloose.

It's a fairly beachy paper pack, but I didn't have any beach-themed stamps to use, so I used the cute bird from June's Stamp of the Month - Life Is Tweet.

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Footloose B&Ts; Colonial White CS
Stamp:  Life Is Tweet - June SOTM
Ink:  Black
Embellishments:  Smoothie brads, Creme Brulee baker's twine
Other:  Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge, Micro-tip scissors, Googlie eye (unknown)

Never Alone...

My card started with just one little lonely bird in the cage, until I decided to use this sentiment from So Sweet, and then I had to add another little friend for my bird.  (Yeah, I was the kid that if I dropped a chip on the ground outside, I had to break it with my foot so it wouldn't be lonely... lol)

I kept it fairly monochromatic, adding just a touch of Tulip.

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Colonial White, Black, Juniper CS, Perfect Day B&T
Stamps:  Love Birds, So Sweet, Tasty Treats
Inks:  Black, Juniper, Tulip
Embellishments:  Juniper grosgrain, Adhesive pearls
Punches:  Scallop border (SU), Scallop oval (Marvy Uchida)
Other items:  Blending Pen, Oval coluzzle, 3D foam tape, ScorTape (ScorPal)

A Tweet Birthday... Birthday Card Swap

I found a little time yesterday to make a card. This one is for a Birthday Card Swap I joined that's just starting, so this is card #1 of 12 I'll be making throughout the next year. (There may be a couple of spots left to fill, so if you are a CTMH Consultant and want to join, let Sandy Jackson know you're interested.)

This card is going to be sent to a Consultant who's birthday is coming up soon. I'm going to write my inside sentiment to her on a sticky note so she can re-use the card if she wishes to. ;)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted): Topstitch B&Ts; Colonial White, Blush CS; A Tweet, Delightful Things, Noted Backgrounds, Happy Birthday stamp sets; Heavenly Blue, Chocolate inks; Colonial White crochet ribbon; Heavenly Blue brad, Pewter bitty brad; Circle Coluzzle; Scallop circle die (Nestabilities); Loop edge punch (Martha Stewart); 3D foam tape.

{Hello} card.... (sketch challenge SSS09)

I decided to go ahead a do another sketch challenge today. This one is by Mary Vogel and it's posted on her blog here.

Using her sketch, this is the card I made. I wanted the bird to face the opposite direction, so I flipped the stamp and stamped it on the reverse side (the side you would normally stick to the block). Gotta love the CTMH stamps! LOL And then I just drew the legs onto the white CS. The bird's body is pop-dotted and so is the diamond shape he's mounted on.

What I used (all CTMH):
Bird Basics stamp set
Intrinsic Backgrounds stamp set
A Huge Thanks stamp set (Consultant set)
Black, Breeze, Creme Brulee and White Daisy CS
Black, Breeze, Ocean and Goldrush inks
Creme Brulee marker
Black/white ribbon
White mini brad
Black journaling pen
Make-up Sponge (other)
Pop-dots (other)

Swap Spoiler... so don't peek if you don't want to see it!

This is my next submission for the Humble Artists swap group I belong to. I finished these cards about a week ago. I figured I may as well go ahead and post it now, even though I won't be mailing these out until the end of Feb.

For our guidlines, we had to use an animal image, a background stamp, have at least 5 layers somewhere on the card, embossing, and at least two embellishments. It's hard to see in the pics, but the bird is sparkly. :o)

What I used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Instrinsic Backgrounds Stamp set
Bird Basics Stamp set
Dream Wishes Stamp set
Unforgettable B&Ts
Cocoa, Desert Sand, and Colonial White CS
Cocoa, Chocolate, Bamboo, Desert Sand, Juniper and Sorbet inks
Antique copper brads and bitty brads
Colonial White ricrac ribbon
Prisma Glitter
Clear Detail embossing powder
Nestabilities Scalloped Circles (Spellbinders)
Photo Corner punch (SU)
Pop-dots (other)
Make-up sponge (other)

(another) Whooo Loves You card....

Once again I've been inspired to CASE (copy and steal everything) a card. I saw one on Silke Ledlow's blog that I fell in love with and this is my version of her card, using all CTMH. It's size is 3 1/4" x 6 1/2".

What I used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
White Daisy, Autumn Terracotta, Chocolate and Juniper C/S
Whooo Loves You stamp set
Chocolate and Juniper inks
Chocolate grosgrain ribbon
Paper piercer
Cuttlebug embossing folder

Another Whooo Loves You card... this time for a challenge.

I made this 6x6 card for my fellow CTMHer Jen Rubio's 'challenge' to make a card using her Humble Artists Group swappers guidelines to see what we can come up with.

Her guidelines were:

-We will create a 6x6 card.
-Please use at least a little bit of any one of the 5 new My Reflections paper packs in the new Idea Book!
-You must use something you can see through (clear buttons, vellum, transparency, organdy ribbon, liquid glass, etc...).
-You must use some element on the card that is round or curved (you know how popular circles and scallops still are).
-Please use any kind of dimensional element.
-Finally, include at least three different stamped images on your card (the images can be from the same stamp set or different sets).

What I used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Originals - Button Trio (pg. 90)
Magic Moments B&T (Polka dot and reverse side for the leaves)
Tulip, Ind. Corn Blue, Sunflower, Cocoa, and Colonial White C/S
Whooo Loves You stamp set
Life's A Jungle stamp set
Cocoa, Tulip, Olive and Sunflower inks
Black bitty brads
Dimensional Elements heart from Fresh Shapes
Twill Ribbon
Natural Hemp
CC Metal Love Charm
Circle Window Charm
Pop-dots (other)
Fiskars scallop punch (Fiskars)
1 1/4" circle punch (other)
Make-up sponge (other)

I was trying to make the Circle Window Charm with the sentiment into a 'moon' in the night sky, but I dont' think it necessarily comes off that way. Oh, well. ;o)

Whooo Loves You card...

This stamp set is really cute, so it was my first stamp purchase from the new CTMH Fall/Winter Idea Book. I'm really enjoying the new colors, too. (Sorbet, Tulip, Creme Brulee and Juniper.) This one came together really quickly, which I like. Sometimes I spend too much time making one card, so it's much appreciated when they're easy. Not that anyone is twisting my arm to do time-expensive cards, it's just where I am at, in the moment, and go with it. LOL

What I used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Whooo Loves You stamp set (available for order Sept. 1st)
White Daisy, Creme Brulee, Juniper and textured Chocolate C/S
Chocolate, Cocoa, Creme Brulee, Juniper and Sorbet inks
Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder
Paper crimping tool (other)
White Daisy ricrac
Black journal pen for the eyes (CM)
Mega and Giga Marvy Uchida scallop circle punches
2" Fiskars circle punch
Pop-dots (other)

Smile (with singing bird) card...

Well, I have to say, I really like the new book format of the Originals. This design is called Tie Back Tag and I altered it to a 8x4 card (instead of 8x3.5). I used the Evensong Creative Basics stripe B&T and just covered the red stripe with 1/2" strips of Olive C/S. Then I took some White Daisy C/S and ran it through my paper crimper and cut 1/4" strips and placed those down the center of the Olive strips. Adds a little extra character with the corrugated look, even though it doesn't show very well in the photo - it looks really cool IRL. The polka dots were done with a 1/2" circle punch.

What I used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Originals - Tie Back Tag design
April Word Puzzle stamp set
Evensong Creative Basics B&T (altered)
White Daisy, Bamboo, New England Ivy, Olive and Sorbet C/S
Olive, New England Ivy and Sorbet inks
Sorbet ricrac
Sorbet brads
Sorbet Token (CC)
Paper crimping tool (other
