Oldies but Goodies Blog Hop!

I stamped a couple of cards for Our Craft Lounge's back-to-school challenge, and then didn't get to blog them before a new OCL challenge was posted, but they fit perfectly for our DIVAS Oldies But Goodies blog hop theme!  Yay!  I love it when things work out that way!

If you arrived from Mary's blog, you're in the right spot!  To start at the beginning, go to Carolyn's!

Both of my cards were inspired by the inspiration photo, a rainbow of crayons.  Neither card uses traditional back-to-school images, but they each brought back great homeschooling memories for me and took me a long way back into my stash of stamping supplies too!

That ROYGBIV line-up of crayons reminded me of a science lesson that I taught for our homeschool co-op on light!  I had the perfect Echo Park designer paper and OCL sentiment for a CAS rainbow card!   The sentiment comes from the very first OCL set I ever owned, Ducky Days!  The paper was released a couple of CHA's ago, so it has been around for a little while too!

While I was looking for the rainbow paper for my ROYGBIV card, I came across a pattern that made me think of another lesson I taught at co-op, on the water cycle, so I made another CAS card for the same challenge!  The very same sentiment worked for this one as well!

Ah, we miss those earlier days of homeschooling!  He's a senior now...his subjects are much harder and not nearly as much fun!

I hope you are enjoying the Oldies But Goodies hop that the DIVAS have put together!  You've got one more stop!  Next you're visiting my friend,  Chrissy!  She's an amazing stamper, and a true friend!  xoxoxo

Sing Praise!

Here is another card using the brand new (released to non-club members today) set, Praise4Him from the {stamps} of Life. Both of the patterned papers I used are actually Christmas papers...the music is the flip side of a print from The Girls' Paperie, and the soft teal is from Kaiser Craft, all sponged with Tim Holtz tea dye distress ink.  I used a Nestabilities label to cut/emboss the sentiment, adding ric rac, a soft twinkle ribbon bow, flower and pearls.

ihp and OCL

It's time for another OCL challenge, and this week the i {heart} papers team is joining in on the fun!  We are CASEing cards!   CASE=Copy And Share Everything!  Your card should be based on another card using OCL stamps, but using a different stamp set.

For my card, I kinda bent the rules a little bit...I combined elements from several different cards that I love.  I looked at cards usng OCL sets made by a variety of artists in lots of different styles, and then also looked at cards made using the set I knew I wanted to use, Drake the Dragon.   I wanted my card to be girlie and frou frou even though the set I used could be interpreted as more boyish!  I love the way it turned out!

Look at this card by Denise...I love the girlie colors, the layers, and the way the colorful sentiment catches your eye in the top right corner.  And this one by Chelle, all boyish colors but with some bejewelled tulle (this is the layout I followed, but with his tail "out of the box").  What about this one by Cambria with its fun color combo and unexpected twist of theme?!

I used some My Mind's Eye Abbey Road Whirlybird Blossom paper to paper-piece part of Drake, coloring in the rest of the image with pale pink Copic markers inspired by Cambria's color combo.  The dots kind of look like scales, don't you think?!  I kept the layout along the same lines as Chelle's, but extended the sentiment beyond the oval as inspired by Denise.  The overall effect is a fun combination of frilly-girlie, in spite of the boyish image.

Here are the supplies I used for my card:
Drake the Dragon OCL stamp set
Whirlybird/Blossom two-sided designer paper
Nestabilities oval, scalloped oval dies
tulle
pearls

Here are the i {heart} papers designers that are participating...
and you should check out the OCL blog too!  Hope you've had fun CASEing with us!

Oldies but Goodies Blog Hop!

It's another DIVAS Oldies but Goodies Blog Hop (officially starting at 10 EST, but it was necessary for me to post early)!  I'm so happy to see you!  You should have arrived from my friend Chrissy's!  If not, you can start at the beginning at Brenda's!

This time around I'm combining challenges:

What a joy to be listed between two sweet, talented stampers that I have had the immense privilege of meeting IRL!  :)  After my friend Chrissy, and before my friend, Jessica!  Love you girls!

Oldies but Goodies Blog Hop!

Welcome to the last stop on the Design D.I.V.A.S.  oldies but goodies blog hop!  You should have made it here from Grace's...if you didn't, then you will want to start at Sue's so you won't miss anything!  I am so honored to have been invited to be part of this amazing group!  I love our group's definition of DIVA: Divine, Inspirational, Virtuous, Artistic (or Annointed) sistahs!

The only restriction for today's hop is that the supplies we use be at least six months old.  Hmmm...no problem!  Sometimes I feel like I'm collecting rather than actually using the stuff!  Anybody relate?  With the stash I have in my craft room, this kind of blog hop ought to be a regular occurrence!  I am thrilled to get to pull out some stamps that haven't seen ink in a while, and to use what I already have!

This adorable bee tree is from Lizzie Anne Designs' March 2010 mix club set, Lucky You!  When I first got it, I found this cute double-sided designer paper at the LSS and just *had* to have it!  (If you look closely you can see that it has little bees too).   Ahem...almost a year later... ;)

For this happy image, I kept things sweet and simple!  I stamped the image, sponged in some sky with a scalloped circle mask, then colored it in with Copic markers and some Spica glitter pens.  I added some scraps of Basic Grey designer paper to create some lush green paper-snipped grass and to carry some green from the image into the layout.  Now, does that make you ready for Spring, or what?!

Most of the other supplies for my card are from i {heart} papers:
Memento ink
Copic markers
Copic Spica glitter pens
gingham ribbon
Basic Grey button
jute thread

I hope you have enjoyed the hop as much as we enjoyed using our old stuff to stamp for you!  :)

Blessings!  Hope to see you again soon!
