Hostess Monday Project for Digital Delights by Looby Loo

Good Monday morning all

I have a new project today as its my turn to host our Monday inspiration
for Digital Delights by Looby Loo.
I decided I would make something a little different from a card for a change, but something that would perhaps be useful, and set about looking through all the fab digis that we have to choose from at Digital Delights for some inspiration.  I came across a  little book toting turtle called - what else but -
Scholar Myrtle available here
I thought that this image would make a fab bookmark and then went on to find Digital Delights even had a fab little bookmark and sentiment set as well available here

Bookmark sentiment setScholar Myrtle

This is what I did......
I used the bookmark template to get the size and dimensions of the bookmark to fit the image
Printed off one of the cute sentiments to use as well.
I Coloured Myrtle with copics,  keeping the colours fairly muted,
Gave it some shading with prismacolor pencils
And cut out the image
I then cut out the layers of the bookmark,
Cut a small tag with the sentiment
layered the whole thing up finishing off with a hole punched in the top to thread some fine ribbons through.

I thought it looked a little bit unfinished at this stage so cut a few star die cuts in matching card with a Nellie Snellen star die set and layered them up too.  I felt as if I could have used a few more embellies but  if it was a proper practical hard working book mark it simply wouldn't last with too many embellies or anything fancy like gems or charms so I decided enough was enough!

I enjoyed the challenge that I set myself  to make something different and practical and didn't know either of these  digis existed until I took myself on a tour of Digital Delights - and I look around almost every week, so who knows what you might come across if you just take the time to have a good look around!

Have a great week

My Little decoupaged garden

Morning all

Well I just about caught up with myself eventually - just!  So I;m here and on time with my MAWTT DT card for this week
And the challenge is

Decoupage

You can do any type of decoupaging you like  - just make sure we can see it
(or give us a clue where it is decoupaged!!)

I decoupaged an image that I stamped out

The image is" My Little Garden" from the Paper shelter available here

I decide to focus on the image for this card with just a ribbon and ribbon rose to embellish
I also kept the decoupage to just the pot of flowers - I had started off with an idea of decoupaged watering can, bees flowers - everywhere - then i reminded myself that less is more and I'm sure this card is the better for it!  I also used only black prismacolor pencil to give it a worn/vintage look.  I really wish I had photographed it before and after the pencil was applied because it really did bring this card to life - a tutorial for another day perhaps.

A close up of the decoupaged plant pot

Our Sponsor this week is
 - offering this fab prize

To be in with a chance - you have to be in it (to win it!)

This is what I did ....

Image  My little garden from the Paper Shelter
Coloured with copics and shaded with black prismacolor pencil

Ribbon Rose - creative impressions
Sentiment LOTV

Have a great day everyone

Have you got One for the Boys!

Good morning blog friends

Hope its nice and bright and sunny where you are.  Its a lovely morning here- nice and bright and very still - I haven't poked my nose out of the door yet so its probably freezing but its just nice that we don't have rain, snow or ice!

Another nice thing about today is its my birthday and as I worked Tuesday instead of my normal Thursday I even get the day off.  Only thing is at the moment I'm sitting here with my cards and presents that my family left for me and up until now I haven't opened them - somehow it feels a bit sad to open them all by myself - think I'll wait until they all come home tonight lol.

Anyway today is not all about me - its also challenge day over at Delightful Challenges and we have  a day about someone else instead its
All about the boys!
Our challeng this week is

One for the boys

Black and White Army! - just for you Shell!

Good morning blogfriends

Well I got to the end of this exciting week and now I have to settle back down to create something out of it all!  I decided to use this cute little footballer from The Paper Shelter
- called Soccer Star - available here  for my DT card at My Time to Craft this week.
It is also a card for my footie mad nephew who turned 18 on Thursday.  He is an absolutely  mad Newcastle United fan so when I saw this image it just seemed perfect for his card - he appreciates anything black and white and not much else!

Also as our Crafty Mamma at MTTC has similar tastes
-this ones for you too Shell hehe.
(I have to do something to get round you saying as I cheated for this DT card!!!)

The challenge over at

this week is

Embossing

I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of dry embossing - I only have four folders and two of those are Christmas ones!  But I do some wet embossing from time to time.  I had a tidy up and move around of my craft stuff a few weeks ago and now I have no idea where my heat gun is
 - should have left it alone - I know where I used to keep it!

So as I didn't really have anything to emboss with that would suit this card -I have to confess to doing a bit of a cheat - I used card that is already embossed - it is a Tim Holtz card with a heavy weave efmbossed on it - and it was the perfect colour for this card

This is what I did....

Image - Soccer Star from The Paper Shelter
Cooured with copics and prismacolor pencils
Papers - MME Meadowlark
Dies - circles Spellbinders
       - fishtail flag stax from Dienamics
       - 18 - Tim Holtz wanted alphabet from sizzix
Ribbon and gems from my stash

Challenges I'm entering with this card

Craftuscrazy - anything goes
Dutchdare challenge - for the boys
Crafts and me - dies or punches

Clearly inspired - black and white with a pop of colour

Have a fab weekend

Threes a charm at Digital Delights this week

Good morning all

Today I have a cute card for the challenge over at

This weeks challenge is

Three's a charm
(use 3 of something)

I used 3 ladybirds on this card

Oh I'm so confused! - still not sure what day it is- again! - my working week has been changed around yet again this week and it really makes a huge difference.  I'm definitely a set in my ways girl!  I was making this weeks card right until the deadline - I had a great idea for this card that I decided wouldn't work - mainly because I hadn't looked at the digis properly - there are 4 dogs in this digi set and I was going to use 3 dogs on this card - but when I looked again - it would have been a mega size card or minature dogs  for that to work lol  - then my mojo just went out of the window!! -I eventually got it together sort of - though my husband said it looked like a card meant for a dog to him - so as I don't send my dog cards to often - I'm really not sure about it!!

I think I'll just plead insanity on this one and start again tomorrow!!
On the bright side - I loved colouring him - just so cute and I gave him a ruff shaggy sort of coat that I think turned out well - I used tiny strokes in four shades then shaded again with prismacolor  pencils and white gel pen and I was really pleased with the way the grass turned out too!
He looked to me as if he was looking at something - so that's why he got the ladybirds.

This weeks challenge is being sponsored by

and the fab prize is a $10 voucher to spend in store

This is what I did

Here's some good advice...pack light!

Hello lovely blog friends

A special hello to all my new friends over at The Paper Shelter who have called on me these last few days - thank you for the warm welcome!

Today is challenge day again at Fab'n'Funky challenges where our lovely Sue is hostess for the week
Sue has chosen the theme of

Pastel Colours

An easy one I think - there are so many Easter cards and Mothers day cards floating around blogland at the minute I'm sure you can find  a lovely pastel one to enter into our challenge this week.

This card was a bit of a revelation to be honest, apart from deciding that I was going to make it as a birthday card for my lovely daughter I didn't have a clue what I was going to do with it!
It sort of evolved lol - I did the very dangerous thing of colouring it before choosing my papers and then when I started to put it together I sort of didn't know when to stop - its very well embellished with all kinds of stuff from my stash  - its even got a whole sheet of pearl swirls on it - I hope she appreciates it - its the craft world equivalent of giving someone your last Rolo - and then some!!

We are sponsored this week by the fabulous Saturated Canary

and the DT were lucky enough to each get a gorgeous image to play with.  I chose that pretty little girl with her suitcases -ready to go off on her summer hollies I think.  Very appropriate for Alison - she's coming to Florida with us on holiday this year and she really can't wait!!  Her whole little family (that's her husband Steven and baby Jacob) are all coming along and because they didn't get a holiday in the sun last year (because Jacob was too tiny), the excitements like they've never been on holiday at all - ever!!

I had a bit of a departure from my usual colouring and shading technique where I use mainly grey or black to shade my image when I've finished colouring  -it gives a bit of a toned down vintage look to the colours.  With this image I think I wanted to keep it a bit brighter - but shock horror - the point had fallen off my grey pencil and i cant find my pencil sharpener.  I decided to shade in colours of the same tones as I had use - I rather liked the effect - might have to try it again!! Don't know whats wrong with my photos these days - think I might have to make some changes! -the colours don't look very true on this photo - the flower is the same green paper as on the card - but it looks a different shade to me and that gorgeous butterfly looks too dark and not so gorgeous .... hmm!
Heres what I did....

Image - packlight from Saturated Canary
Coloured with copics and prismacolour pencils
Papers - K and co and Spring drop from
Card = Bazzill basics

Colour my world

Hi all

You're probably wondering what's going on - here I am my 5th day in a row!!
When I first started blogging I had an ambition to post a card at least 4 times a week and although I haven't always hit that target - I feel as if I have come pretty close.
I get a great feeling of satisfaction each time I post a card
- it's like - ok job done!

I have a really cute little girl today from Digital Delights, Wendy (aka Louby Lou) asked for some samples to be made with this cute set of stamps and I really couldn't resist

The set is called colour my world and is available here

I decide to make an easel card so I could fit all the elements of the set on the card - the sentiment, Chelsea the little girl and the pencils and paints.  I decided just to go for total colour overload here - after all this image was an invitation and how often do you get the chance!  It is  also available already coloured (here) and there are some cute sentiments too

Are you ready for a romantic moment?!

Good morning all

I'm back today with a new inspiration card for Whimsy stamps.  This one is from the gorgeous Fairy dust images and is called Romantic Moment available here

Isn't it just a gorgeous fairy image - I just loved it the minute I saw it and was dying to colour it up. I was originally going to colour it in pale pastel colours and went looking for papers to do that but when I saw this paper i decided to go with the pale green and red colour scheme and I really like how it turned out.  I went a bit overboard with the stickles - well you can with a fairy - and although the sparkle of the glitter on the wings is reflecting the light so that you cant see the wings too well - they are coloured in a graduated blue, green, pink and lilac design.

This is what I did.....

Image - Romantic Moment from Fairy dust Images at Whimsy Stamps
Coloured with - copics and prismacolor pencils
Paper -MME - lost and found blush
Sentiment LOTV grungy everyday messages
Distress ink - Faded corduroy
Stickles - Diamond
Dies -Memory box - Debutante frame and Honeyblossom frame from Oyster stamps - I cut some extra branches to fill the bottom of the frame as well.  also ivy tendrill die - all cut with pearl card

Our first challenge this year at Fab'n'Funky Challenges - Its Winter!

Good morning blog friends

Well I recon Jackie got it just about right when she set this weeks challenge over at

Fab'n'Funky Challenges

Winter

she said!
and winter it is!

Our first really cold day this year and I don't like it one little bit!

The best bit about this challenge is the really virtuous feeling I got having made my first Christmas card this year - I'm really full of good intentions(aren't we always at this time of year)
I'm going to try to make a Christmas card every other week for the rest of the year
Not even every week - I don't want to be too ambitious after all lol

We have two fabulous sponsors this week at Fab'n'Funky challenges

Our regular first prize sponsor

Who is regularly sponsoring our challenge this year with a special first prize

and

I chose a really cute digi fom
over at Whimsy Stamps

She is called
Raggedy Girl Sled and is available here

I was actually feeling a bit down about not making Christmas cards
- because no matter how busy it can be
they really are the very best cards to make
you can go totally OTT with the sparkle and bling like no other time of the year!!

So I decided to have a real glitter and sparkle fest with this one and I got to use those gorgeous glittery snowflakes that didn't even make it out of the box and onto my last years card - what a waste!

This is what I did....

Digi stamp - Raggedy girl sled from Stampart by Kathryne
Coloured with - Copics and Prismacolor pencils
Papers -  recollections blue Christmas from Michaels
the blingy snow flakes and words are also from recollections
Die cut snowflakes - Dienamics dies
Die cut frame - spellbinders labels ten
Ribbon and check card  from my stash
Pearl sticks - cut from pearl sticks from Wild orchid crafts
Glittered with - Diamond stickles

So if you want that virtuous feeling that a Christmas card in January can bring come on over to
Fab'n'Funky challenges this week and bring a winter card with you - see you there!

Challenges I'm entering with this card

Canyoudigiit - sparkle
Crafty sentiments designs - sparkle / glitter
Creative card crew - snow and ice
The ribbon carousel - winter spirit
The ribbon reel challenge - snowman or snowflake with ribbon/twine/trim
Crazy4challenges - ribbons and bows

How many shades of grey do you really, really need!!?

Hello there blog friends - Happy Tuesday

Today I've got with a quick tutorial  that I've done for Inky impressions about two things really

  1. You don't need a Christmas image to make a Christmas card
  2. You only need one shade of grey - or one colour infact - no matter what that book says!!
I've made a quick and easy Christmas card with the Inky Impressions stamp

Hazel baking cookies
you can find her  here

I coloured her with copics - not particularly carefully (whoops!) - but that doesn't really matter when you use a prismacolour pencil to go back in to add shade and depth to the image. And to shade the whole image all you need is

One shade of grey!!

Infact prismacolor 70% warm grey.  You could use any grey or even black (and if I want an even deeper vintage look I do use black- it does great things when used with red - but thats for another day)  but for this particular card I wanted a warm look and thats what the 70% grey gives to this image.

Here is the image coloured with copics - it looks ok - but lacks any depth and as you can see I havent done a great deal of blending with the colours and it all looks a bit too bright in places

Next I added lines of grey where I wanted to add the shade with the pencil you'll notice I have not added any to the centre of the face

I then started to blend the pencil with Sansodor solvent

You can now see that there is a lot more depth to the image also I added shade to the centre of the face just by using whatever colour I had already picked up on my blending stump and blending it into the centre of  the face.

I then cleaned off my blending stump (with an emery board) and used just Sansodor to further blend and thin out the grey in places

All of the colours are now muted - which was the effect I was looking for- and there is shade and light to the little bears fur and the clothes and bowl.

I then trimmed the card and shaded with distress ink before I mounted the image onto green card and added  papers, ribbon  and embellies  to make this cute Christmas card - and there she is

Hazel baking her Christmas Cookies

This is what I used to make this card

Coloured with copics - fur E40,41,43  ribbon and apron trim R37,35,32  apron G28,07,00  bowl E53,51,       cookie mix E11,21, eyes B93 Inside ears YR 20,21
And ....Prismacolor pencil - one shade of grey 70% warm grey
Papers - first edition - festive treats (cookies were also cut from these papers)
Distress ink - Tea dye by Tim Holtz
Sentiment - LOTV
Shaped card - craftwork cards
Heart charm - Inky impressions
Gems and ribbon - from my stash

Challenges i'm entering with this card

Loves rubber stamps -anything goes

Now go and have a look at your stamps! There's lots of stamps you could use that aren't Christmas stamps that will make a beautiful Christmas card.  Hope I gave you some inspiration

(go on sing along - you know you want to!)

I really hope none of you are going on a summer holiday in this weather - unless you're a duck, i've never seen so much rain in my life, I think this week has been the worst so far because the rain just hasn't stopped for 3 days now.  But when this challenge was set we really expected it to be summer weather so my card for this week definitely reflects this - though you might put a different slant on it!!

I saw this cute little girl waiting to go on her summer holidays over at Di's digi downloads (I've got a bit of a love affair going on with these digis at the moment) and here she is....
