Cute cards for children

Good afternoon!

Firstly i'd just like to say thank you for your messages and good wishes for my birthday yesterday - i had a lovely day

But Wow I'm late today! with my DT card for

 - just managed to post my card on the challenge blog this morning then I had to rush out to go to the garage with hubby because he was taking his car in  for a diagnostic and needed a lift home from the specialist garage about half an hour away (yes it's serious and now has a death sentence!!)  From there I went for my daily swim, popped into town to pick up a few odds and ends, came back, walked the dog about 5 miles, back home tea prepped and I've finally got time to blog!! - I'm worn out thinking about it : )

We have a cute card challenge today!
-something I haven't made in a while

 - a cute card for a child

I'm still keeping up with my crafting for a purpose challenge to myself and only making things for a purpose - this one fits because my grandson Jacob is in the 5 year olds constant round of birthday parties - sometimes two a week!!- so this will go in the box for him to use.

A fairly simple card but great to showcase this cute little image
she's called
Ballerina Bobby and is available from
Digital Delights by Louby Loo HERE

Our lovely sponsor this week is

Inspiration post on colouring with Spectrum noir pens and pencils

Hi all

I'm here to share my inspiration post that I've created for the Digital Delights blog today and I'm showcasing a cute male image called

Tooltime Donald

 - great for all sorts of male occasions
check him out in the DD store HERE

Here is my finished card - but if you follow on below you'll see how the use of different medium can change the appearance of an image/project

Most of my cards are fairly simple in style, preferring to concentrate on the image - though I have been known to go mad with embellies occasionally - it's not my normal style

I coloured this image with Spectrum Noir pens and pencils.  Starting off by laying down basic colours
as follows

skin - FS1,3,4,7
shirt - BT1,2,3
Boots and tool handles - TN5
Tools BG1,2
Dungarees, hat,glasses - TN1,2,4

I then added spectrum noir pencil in just one shade (116) ready to blend with blending fluid and blending stumps - you can see the lines around the edges here ready to blend towards the centre of the image

I then blended the pencil and added and blended in other pencil colours to the image to add more shade and depth, I also used pencil strokes to give him a salt'n'pepper hair colour!

pencil colours 120(black) for overall shading,
shirt - 52, 62, 120
cheeks - 26
dungarees,hat and tools 94,109,115,116
boots - 120

This more or less finishes the colouring of the image and gives a fairly clean look, however I wanted a more distressed look so added further shading from the outside edges of the card with Tim Holtz distress in in the shade distressed corduroy using an ink duster brush for a light coverage, this has the effect of toning down the whole image taking away the stark whiteness and also highlighting the stitched effect die.  I also created shade around the image with pencils 116 and 62.  This is not the usual appearance created with cuter images such as Digital Delights, but I wanted to show that cute does not mean you can't create a vintage type/distressed look as well

and so back full circle to the beginning!
I mounted the image onto Crafter's Companion Kraft card and black card and used a couple of papers from MME for background.  'DAD' was cut twice and offset to create a highlight with the alphabet die from the spellbinders sapphire die cutting machine - just love my new baby - so useful and very portable for crafting away from my craft room - infact lots of dies that you use when creating embellies on a project will fit - I'm so glad I got it.

I enjoyed creating this project
- I hope you like my take on it and that I have given you a different 'take' on cute!!

hugs

Anything goes at the Digital Delights Challenge

Good morning all

It's challenge time at Digital Delights and as usual our theme for the month is

Anything goes

I chose to use the cute Lil' Billy - one of my favourites!
and also the Wild West Sentiments set

I took my colour inspiration from my papers which is a really old set from My Minds Eye called So Sophie - there aren't many pages left in the pad now  : (  - gorgeous purples, mustards and greens - I really like the colour scheme with the cute little cowboy - it made a nice change from the reds and blues that I usually choose for these little cowboy images.

The lucky winner of our challenge will win a

$10 Gift Voucher

if a Digital Delights image is used

or

$5 Gift Voucher

if you use another image.
There is also the chance of a GDT spot if you are chosen as one of our top 3
So hurry on down for your chance to win!

Fortunately I had made this card in advance - just as well because I've been out of action for a week now!  I slipped and fell while I was walking my dog last week - forwards onto my chest - then I passed out as I stood up and fell backwards hitting my head.  Fortunately nothing was broken but I have staples in my head and so many aches and pains its unreal - I just want to get up tomorrow and not be aching .... anyway back to my card

This is what i did....

Image - Lil Billy from Digital Delights
Sentiment - Wild West Sentiment set from Digital Delights

Another christmas card from me - Digital Delights Anything Goes challenge

Hi all

So sorry that I'm arriving late with my card for

 this months Challenge
at

I've had very intermittent internet service over the last couple of weeks and haven't been able to post much at all - thank goodness for my phone that I could at least keep up with email!

but at least I can still share one of the really cute Christmas Images
on our new release at

This is the cute

Gift Giving Cedric available here
and
Magical winter wishes sentiment set available here

I decided to go non traditional with the colours
matching up with the lovely papers from My Minds Eye
and my favourite Easel card shape - what could be better!!
With the focus on the image I simply used the papers and
the fairly simple Christmas tree die from Marianne - Simple
Coloured up with Spectrum noir pens and pencils
-it was a pretty easy make really

and now here is my very own Christmas elf!

My Grandson Jacob in his Christmas elf sweater
all ready to meet Mickey Mouse!!

We're off to Florida in a few weeks and we're all booked up to go to Mickeys Christmas party night at The Magic Kingdom
so this is Jacob trying his sweater out for size!!
cute or what!!

I'll be back again tomorrow with another DT card - this time for the challenge at
The Paper Shelter

see you then

Spider Stevie at Digital Delights

Good morning all

Well what an exciting week I've had - and all in the name of craft!
Just got back yesterday from 2 days of fabulous crafting and team building with my lovely Crafters Companion team buddies and a wonderful party night to celebrate Crafters Companion's 10th birthday
It was lovely to meet everyone who had come from far and wide - can't quite remember when Tuesday and Wednesday were quite so much fun! - but it's back to earth with a bump now
- all good things come to an end : )

Anyway back to today!

Its the start of our new challenge at

Digital Delights

with the theme

Anything goes

I have a cute card to share that I've made for my Digital Delights DT card

using the cute Spider Stevie available here

When I decided to make use this image I had in mind a fab spider web stamp to make a background paper - but it appears to have vanished without a trace from my stamp drawer! - not to be put off I decided to use a hessian effect embossing folder that I inked up with  black ink before I embossed it - not quite a spider web but I quite like the effect with the red card - it actually looks better IRL.as the black ink adds great definition

Here's what I did....

Image Spider Stevie from Digital Delights
Coloured with spectrum noir pens and  just one spectrum noir pencil to add depth and shadow
Pen colours clothes -DR1,2,4  TB3,4,5   Skin - FS3,7,TN3
Spectrum noir pencil - no 119
Embossing folder - Crafters compnion vintage hessian A4 folder

I was originally going to do the usual pretty flower colours thing!  But as I was looking through my papers I saw this dark brown and beige coloured one and I knew I had some lush dark brown ribbon so this is how it turned out! I was pleased with the result - just because it's different to the pinks and yellows I was first thinking about - and to be honest the mo-jo's a bit slow at the minute.  Sometimes you've got to look for inspiration if it doesn't come to find you first!!

Here's what I did...
