Vintage Fa La La Christmas

Happy Tuesday, peeps! I am squeaking in a sweet little vintage Christmas card for the "belles" at Jingle Belles, where their theme is "Walking in a Vintage Wonderland"!  I love Christmas and I love vintage!  So I searched in my stash of papers and found a few that worked for my collage-style card today!  I did some trimming and sponging and diecutting and did not do a bit of stamping, at least on the front! Here we go:

I cannot begin to tell you who makes these papers; I bought just a few pieces loose from an online seller and there is no name associated with them, but they are all from the same package.  You may be able to see the background print peeking out from the elements that I cut apart and mounted on top.  Before mounting, I sponged each edge and roughed them up with the edge of my ruler.  I also added some glittery holly leaves (white glimmer paper with some Soft Sky ink sponged on them) and a little diecut bow (Real Red with some white ink sponged on it),  Here are some closeups of these delightful little scenes:

Everything went on a Naturals Ivory card; I stamped a sentiment from Flonzcraft on the inside with Crumb Cake ink.

These images all just remind me of Christmases from when I was a little girl!  And I  promise, one of these days, I'll do some actual stamping on a card! It's just so fun to pull out some neat papers and let them do the work though!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS726 Spring is Here

Happy Thursday, all!  My friend Colleen (you can visit her blog HERE) makes the BEST vintage-style cards and I've been so inspired by her creations I just had to create one myself!  I used the sketch from FMS:

and pulled out an old stamp from Artistic Outpost called Birds of a Feather:

I stamped my bird once on a Basic Beige tag, then again on a scrap, and fussy-cut just the bird, popping it back up on the tag.  I added some scripty words and speckles, some shading, a wee bit of Old Olive coloring and a hand-dyed shabby seam binding ribbon:

My papers are from  Prima's Farm Sweet Farm pad.  On the inside, I used a couple of older Crafty Secrets stamps for some birthday wishes.  I miss Crafty Secrets AND Artistic Outpost; they made great vintage images!

And since this is a birthday card, I am entering this at Krafty Chicks as well:

Speaking of birthdays, we were finally able to celebrate the first birthday of my great-niece Ava.  Every time the party was scheduled, it snowed!  Her aunt Kelly, who is the "Martha Stewart" of our family, created these cakes for the big day; one for Ava (and her brothers) to smash, and one for the adults!  They were beautiful!  Isn't she a cutie:

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC634 Christmas Postage Collage

Happy Monday, peeps! Hope you had a good weekend! It's time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch, and I confess that this one threw me for loop!  Here we go:

I really had no idea what to do with it, but I had just received some Christmas postage stamp images, so I decided to stamp and diecut a few.  Then I remembered a few other postage stamp images I had, so I went to work.  Here's my eclectic take on the sketch:

I just love these images! Most of them are from Elizabeth Crafts; the sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.  The dies are from Waffle Flower.  I used Basic Beige for the stamps themselves and a variety of colors of inks:

The card base is Crumb Cake; the inside sentiment is also from Simon Says Stamp:

I hope you'll play along with our interesting sketch this week!  It is a great one to use up some coordinating scraps of DSP, don't you think?  We can't wait to see what you do; share it with us at Atlantic Hearts!!!  Thanks for visiting today, enjoy it and be blessed!

PP698 Friends

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Hope your weekend is going well so far!  Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess today and it's a color theme:

I admit that at first glance, I didn't know where to go with these colors; I am in full summer mode and these didn't fit my seasonal thinking! But heaven knows I have plenty of stamps, ink and paper, so this is what finally came to mind:

This little kitten image is from a whole sheet of vintage pet images from Rare Image, sadly out of business!  I stamped them in Versafine black and watercolored them in, then added a Unity sentiment.  Each diecut circle was matted with a scallop in one of the challenge colors:

I still had some Playful Pets DSP, and I added some red & black plaid DSP from Peaceful Prints, both retired, along with a little Smoky Slate stitched border.  I had an extra plaid circle that was unused, so I added this little diecut sentiment on the inside:

This color combo is great for guys, but obviously, it can be used for lots of other occasions!  I had this card out at a stamp event yesterday and a cat-loving customer bought it! So we can't wait to see how you incorporate these colors into your creation!  Be sure to share it with us at the Paper Players!

Thanks for visiting today, enjoy and be blessed!

After all this, there is only one thing to say: Have reverence for God, and obey his commands, because this is all that we were created for.  God is going to judge everything we do, whether good or bad, even things done in secret.  Eccesiastes 12:13

Vintage Santa

Happy Friday, everyone! I have a vintage-themed Christmas card for you today--I've been neglecting my holiday cards, so I need to get cracking!  It fits these challenges:  Jingle Belles--the Man with the Bag (Santa!); Retro Rubber's Tic Tac Toe grid (I used the center column); and the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

So here we go:

These Crafty Secrets vintage Santa stamps are probably from around 2012 or so.  I don't really know the date, but I know I've had them for a long time and was very sad when they went out of business!  I stamped Santa on Very Vanilla with Cherry Cobbler ink and added some swirls in Crumb Cake:

Sentiment was stamped on Crumb Cake, along with some wee little "stitched" lines from Close to My Heart (approx 2000)

and here's the inside sentiment:

My Crumb Cake mat was also embossed with the Subtle embossing folder and sponged with Pecan Pie ink to give it a vintage feel.  Some maroon sequins from my stash finished it off!

Thanks for visiting today---I know need to go do my chores! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Vintage Bunny Decor

Happy Wednesday, peeps! I have a quick project today---no stamping---just some diecutting, fussy-paper-cutting and a little bit of layering to make a sweet little Easter decoration!  Check it out:

This isn't real big; it's only about 3 1/2" tall.  I used the largest Excellent Egg die to cut out some digital papers that I got from Crafty Secrets almost ten years ago!  I mounted the diecut egg on another  egg diecut, cut from some sturdy cardboard, then printed out an Easter postcard from the Graphics Fairy, scaled it to fit my egg and did some fussy-cutting of the bunnies and the sentiment, which is popped up:

I added a little crochet embellishment on the top and that was it!  I did create a little easel for the back so that it could stand up easily:

I am going to enter this at Inspire.Create, where they're looking for anything but a card, as well as Shopping Our Stash, which is looking for spring and/or Easter! And Little Red Wagon is looking for animals, so I am tossing it in the ring there as well!

Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC562 My Heart Is With You

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Wow, the last day of January, time flies!  My card today features the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge sketch:

along with some papers from Close to My Heart that I've had for a while but haven't even opened!  So I remedied that today!  Here we go:

I love the vintage French feel of these prints...I layered one of the papers on a Crumb Cake base, and before layering it, I stamped a few images from the retired French Foliage and Butterfly Basics:

I added a couple of embossed hearts from the Adoring Hearts embossing folder, some Boho Blue twine, and a sentiment from another retired set called Small Sayings. It's hard to see, but there's a wee little strip of Champagne foil paper that gives the elements a little pizzazz!  On the inside, another retired sentiment from Holiday Best:

This was actually my second attempt at this card; the first one I was not as pleased with; it went on a Very Vanilla base, but I didn't really like the stamped elements as much.

I did like the sentiment; it was a sticker from the same set of papers:

Those twirly elements behind the sentiments are always problematic for me, I can never get them quite right! But I now have two more Valentines for my stash!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

We love because God first loved us.  I John 4:19

Three Vintage Christmas Cards

Happy Monday, peeps!  Phew, I'm beat.  It was a crazy hectic day yesterday between church and our covered dish supper, then Christmas Carol hymn sing....but it really put me in the Christmas spirit!  Today is grocery shopping and laundry....so this will be quick!  The challenge from In(k)spire Me is Retro Christmas, and Inspire.Create also wants Christmas this week!  I have had this wood mounted stamp from Inkadinkado for a long time and have never inked it up!  I actually took it off the wood block so I could use it in my Stamparatus and while I was at it, I made three!

So here we go:

I am not quite sure why the colors in my photo are really off; my images are stamped on Crumb Cake and the card bases are Cherry Cobbler, Misty Moonlight and Shaded Spruce, but it certainly doesn't look like those colors in real life, LOL!  Anyway, you get the gist.  I began by stamping them all in my Stamparatus:

Then I diecut them with a Deckled Edge Rectangle die and used a Blending Brush and Crumb Cake ink to give them a vintage look.  On the corners of each card, I stamped a holly image from the retired Bells & Boughs set, then mounted the image on top:

A vintage sentiment from Crafty Secrets was stamped and diecut, then added to the inside.  Simple & easy!

Thanks for popping in today..if you need any info on any of the products used, just shoot me an email!
Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TOC249 Vintage Halloween

Happy Satuarday, peeps! Is it raining where you are? It's gone from beautiful sun to gray clouds and lots of rain predicted!  A perfect day to stay inside and stamp!  The challenge at Time Out this week is vintage..I LOVE vintage, especially when the images feature little children..and Halloween!

I have lots of images saved, so I printed one out and created this:

This is a fairly large card, 4 5/8" x 6 1/4", so I could use a larger image.  I used some subdued Halloween prints for the background, sponged the edges of my image, added a Pecan Pie mat as well as some Tim Holtz stickers, a vintage glitter star and some ribbon:

This little image really makes me feel nostalgic.  I can remember my dad teasing us around Halloween, saying "The goblins will getcha if you don't watch out!"  I happened to find a poem by James Whitcomb Riley called Little Orphant Annie, and I imagine that is where it came from.  His teacher probably read it to him at school.  Riley uses a lot of country idioms so you have to use your imagination when reading it but it does have a good moral!  You can see it HERE.

A Crafty Secrets vintage Halloween sentiment went on the inside, along with a cute little ghost from an unmarked set:

And since I told you I love vintage, here is a vintage postcard from my own collection:

This postcard is 110 years old and still looks amazing!  There is gold on several of the images and it's perfect. On the back, it has the message "I hope you may have this kind of a time" to my great-uncles Taylor and Hutchison Thompson from their Uncle John.  They would have been 21 and 25 years old at the time!  Check out the address...no road, just a town. Obviously the mailman knew where they lived! The stamp is one cent and the postmark says Lemont, PA, 1913.

My grandmother probably kept this because they all lived on the family farm.  Thanks for indulging me a bit of vintage Halloween history!  And thanks for popping in--enjoy your day and be blessed!
