SSC221 & PPA112
Just a quick little card using the sketch from Stamping 411 this week:
I took some artistic liberty and flipped the sketch, using the floral image that was already on the Beau Chateau Side Note as my focal point:
I watercolored the pre-stamped image with my aquapainter;
added some embossed hearts and crochet trim; then stamped the sentiment from Style Beautiful in Not Quite Navy:
My Stamp-a-ma-Jig ensured that I got this beautiful script right where I wanted it! Thanks for visiting today! This also qualifies for the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week, which is to use lace!
Wee Details:
- Stamps: Style Beautiful
- Paper: Naturals Ivory, Watercolor Paper, Marina Mist Patterns, Certainly Celery
- Ink: Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, Not Quite Navy
- Acc: Crochet Trim, Subtles Button, Linen Thread, Beau Chateau Side Notes, Embossed Heart Embosslit; Three-Heart Punch, Aquapainter, SAMJ
My daughter just told me I had the same picture on my blog TWICE—horrors! So here’s a new one for you:

Paper Players Sketch 57
Happy Sunday! Can you believe it is the last day of July! Wow, the summer is flying by! Nance is our hostess today and she has brought us a lovely sketch:
My niece’s birthday is tomorrow and as I was looking through her FB pages, I noticed she wears a lot of deep dark blue…she’s a blondie with blue eyes, so it’s a good color on her! So I chose Pacific Point and Bashful Blue as my colors for her birthday card:
I stamped the butterfly from Strength & Hope three times---once on the main panel in PP, once on a layer of vellum cardstock in white, and again on Whisper White cardstock in PP, and cut the last two out. I covered the top layer with Versamark ink and Iridescent Ice embossing powder and heated it up for a lovely glimmer:
I layered them with some rhinestones on my Bashful Blue panel, which was reverse embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots folder and stamped in a collage fashion with various images from Style Beautiful, You’re A Gem and Nature Walk. The entire piece was mounted on a piece of Pacific Point Patterns designer paper that was cut using the Top Note die, and a little taffeta ribbon and tag finished it off. I also stamped the words from Nature Walk randomly on my textured white card in Versamark ink and lightly colored it with chalks.
We hope that this sketch inspires you to pick out your favorite stamps and inks and create something to share with us! You’ll find all the details on the Paper Players blog! Thanks for visiting today!
Look ma! No hands!

Paper Players #49
Happy Sunday before Memorial Day! It has been a wonderful weekend so far, I hope you are enjoying yours! Today the Paper Players have an “Anything Goes” challenge for you---just what it says, you can do anything you like!
I chose to do a CAS card by watercoloring the Fabulous Florets set:
This is a smaller card than normal; it measures about 3 1/2” across; I embossed the flowers in White Craft ink and white embossing powder, then watercolored them with Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry ink. I fussy-cut the flowers out around the corner of the Crumb Cake panel, which qualifies this card for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge 69 as well! I wheeled the Melon Mambo panel with the Music Notes wheel and although it is difficult to see, I embossed the floral border from Vintage Vogue along the bottom of the card:
The ribbon is some retired Melon Mambo, tied in a simple knot and the sentiment is from Style Beautiful. I love the simplicity of this! I hope you will play along with us---choose one of your favorites, we’ll take anything!
Check out those shoes!

Framed Collage
I am still working on my shabby-chicness techniques….I see such beauties out in blogworld and try to recreate them, but I still need some practice! I created a little frame with some cardboard and Nesties, then painted it, tried to distress it and ended up spraying it with some Gold Glitter Spray from Krylon---NEAT STUFF! A little swoosh and my whole creation was glittered in a second! Unfortunately, it is difficult to see in the photo:
I did some collage stamping on the background, added a chipboard bird’s nest and some lace & ribbon, then finished with some bling & little tags that don’t mean anything, so I guess this card will be whatever I need it to be when the time arises! Meanwhile, this fulfills a few challenges:
- Play Date Cafe 82 colors of Cocoa, Baja & Saffron
- CAS-ual Fridays challenge 3 to use bling
- City Crafters Challenge 58 to use a frame
- The Kraft Journal – CAS for Make It Monday
Thanks so much for visiting today!
