AHSC615 Twinkle Twinkle

Happy Monday, all!  Time for a pretty new sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

I needed a baby boy card for a young couple who used to go to our church, and I happened to find some papers that worked well for the sketch, so here we go:

I had already cut this panel of printed paper and had not used it for the project intended, so I trimmed it down a little, added a Calypso Coral mat and put it all on a Lost Lagoon card.  I fussy-cut a little image from another one of the pages and added a stamped sentiment on a fussy-cut banner:

The image has a wee bit of glitter too....so cute!  And I used another piece of the paper to embellish the inside and stamped a sentiment and a few stars for fun:

The papers made this card a snap to put together...and now it can go in the mail!  I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week too, we love seeing your creations in the gallery at Atlantic Hearts!

John made a little trip to check on his boat last week and went to the Turkey Point Lighthouse "just because":

It is at the head of the Chesapeake Bay and has quite an interesting history!  The river still had lots of ice on it....I think I will wait until warmer weather to visit myself, LOL!

Thanks for visiting today, enjoy it and be blessed!

PP692 Patriotic Friends

Happy Sunday, peeps! Time for a new Paper Players challenge with Jaydee as our hostess! It's theme week and what a fun one Jaydee has chosen:

Where would we be without our friends, right?!  So let's go!

I bought this Technique Tuesday stamp several years ago, just for this image, I loved it so much! I used it ONE TIME....and it went missing in my stamp room.  I tore everything apart and never found it.  Fast forward to about a year ago, I was looking through some vintage-type papers in one of my folders and lo and behold, stuck to the back of one of the pages was my stamp!  Phew!  I wanted to make a patriotic-themed card and this image seemed to fit the bill, along with the theme of friendship! I stamped the image in Real Red and fussy-cut it, then added a sentiment, some blue banners and some yummy blue gingham:

On the inside, a birthday sentiment, a little strip of the opposite side of the DSP and I'm ready to go for a July birthday!

And since the Color Throwdown challenge this week features my card's colors, I am going to enter it there as well!

Friendship is one of the best and easiest themes we could have, so I hope you'll take the challenge and make a friendship card, then share it with us at the  Players' blog!

Before I go, I am going to brag on Dana little....she always has to listen to me (and my two sisters) yak on and on about the birds we saw and/or heard, and when she sent me this video, I almost fell off my chair.  She took it through a window, so there's a glare and some background noise (you may want to hit the mute button to keep from hearing annoying commercials!), but she captured this female pileated woodpecker amazingly:

She's afraid she's becoming a bird nerd now, LOL!  Thanks for watching, thanks for visiting and be blessed today!

AHSC562 My Heart Is With You

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Wow, the last day of January, time flies!  My card today features the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge sketch:

along with some papers from Close to My Heart that I've had for a while but haven't even opened!  So I remedied that today!  Here we go:

I love the vintage French feel of these prints...I layered one of the papers on a Crumb Cake base, and before layering it, I stamped a few images from the retired French Foliage and Butterfly Basics:

I added a couple of embossed hearts from the Adoring Hearts embossing folder, some Boho Blue twine, and a sentiment from another retired set called Small Sayings. It's hard to see, but there's a wee little strip of Champagne foil paper that gives the elements a little pizzazz!  On the inside, another retired sentiment from Holiday Best:

This was actually my second attempt at this card; the first one I was not as pleased with; it went on a Very Vanilla base, but I didn't really like the stamped elements as much.

I did like the sentiment; it was a sticker from the same set of papers:

Those twirly elements behind the sentiments are always problematic for me, I can never get them quite right! But I now have two more Valentines for my stash!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

We love because God first loved us.  I John 4:19

Sympathy Cards

Hey stampers!  Our church family is mourning the loss of one of our members and she came from a large family, so I have had to make several sympathy cards.  I am sharing two of them today; one uses the sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

and some of the same papers that I used on my bunnies card from yesterday, just different prints:

I layered some of the patterns on the front, embossing one piece with the retiring Greenery embossing folder, then created a little bundle of foliage using the Forever Fern and Free as a Bird sets and various green inks:

I "tied" them together with some Fan Baker's Twine and added a few green Genial Gems, and it all went on top of a Stitched Shape circle.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

The second card uses the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

and some pretty new papers I just got from Prima called Farm Sweet Farm.  I paired them with a flower from the retiring All Things Fabulous:

The layered flower was stamped with Sweet Sugarplum, Cherry Cobbler and Merry Merlot inks, and the foliage was stamped with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.  I added a sentiment from an older SU set called Small Sayings, and added a sprinkling of sequins:

I used the same sentiments for the both cards, from Papertrey.

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

GDP230 Happy Easter

Hi everyone!  I have an Easter card to share today, using the Global Design Project sketch:

I am not 100% happy with this card, but sometimes that happens, right?  So anyway, here we go:

I used the little bunny from Fable Friends, stamped in Stazon and watercolored, and put him on a stitched circle with a little grassy background.  The Bird Ballad DSP was matted with some Balmy Blue cardstock, and I used a couple of banners for the horizontal pieces, stamped with sentiment from A Wish for Everything.

The white background looked a little plain, so I stamped a couple of butterflies on it in Balmy Blue and Blushing Bride!  Isn't he a cutie?  Thanks for stopping by today!
Cassidy got a new hairdo this weekend!  Wish my hair would grow long enough to have this style!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB109 Anything Goes in a Garden

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  It's time again for the latest Retro Rubber Challenge, where we challenge you to use stamps at least one year old!  This week, it's "Anything Goes"!  Yay!  That's always fun!

Image may contain: text

My SIL has a birthday coming up, and she loves to garden, which gave me a chance to use one of my all-time favorite older SU stamps. Garden Pleasures, from 2001--wow, that's 18 years ago! So here we go:

I used the Global Design Project's sketch for this week, flipping it so my little birds would be looking at each other:

I stamped my image on Shimmery White cardstock, watercoloring it with an aquapainter and inks:

I added a sweet little Be Mine diecut Kraft element at the bottom, after cutting the image out with the Stitched Rectangle die (shortening it a wee bit).  The little sentiment banner is from a set called Small Sayings, from 2006; the inside birthday sentiment is from Better Together (2016); the rest of the images are from the same Garden Pleasures set:

I hope she likes it!  And I hope you'll play along with us as well!  Remember, stamps have to be at least a year old, and you must tell us the age in your post!  Check out all the DT samples at the Retro Rubber blog!  Hope to see you there!

Speaking of gardening, Cassidy is getting into her own little gardening groove:

Dana said she did this planter all by herself!  I think I need to put her to work on my patio!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Paper Players 331

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Nance is our Paper Players hostess today with a lovely color palette!  I had so many ideas in my head!  Here's the prompt:

I used a SAB set called Delicate Details for my clean and simple creation; The sketch is from last week's Freshly Made Sketches;  I didn't have time to play with it then, so I am using it today!

My card base is Naturals White, and I stamped one of the lace panels in Smoky Slate three times and trimmed it out.  I didn't have any Copper Foil sheets, but I did have some Brushed Copper cardstock from a while back, so I used that instead to diecut some birds; I also cut some from Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate, then adhered them on each "branch".

My final touches were a branch of  Brushed Copper diecut using the Flourishes die, and a little heat-embossed copper sentiment.  Of course, I messed up my first stamping, so I stamped it again and cut it out on a little banner...not the best save, but I didn't feel like starting all over again, LOL!

I am sure you have some glorious ideas for these elegant colors....can't wait to see what you create!  Be sure to share them with us at the Paper Players, and meanwhile, check out the DT samples there as well, or click on them below:

I had to share this photo of my great-nephew Chaz from our snow day.  He is actually touching his nose with his tongue!!!  This kid is too funny!  It was so cold; look at their red cheeks, too!

Enjoy your day!

TSOT288 Joyful Birthday

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  It's time for another Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch:

The option this week is Autumn Colors, but I was itching to use some of this fun Festive Birthday DSP that I hadn't had a chance to play with yet!  I needed a birthday card, so it was a perfect time to dig into it:

I let the paper do most of the work!  I added a Melon Mambo flower, cut using the Flower Fair Framelits along with some leaves from the Flourish Framelits; I accented it with a big white enamel dot in the center:

And the sentiment banner was diecut with the banner from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits; the sentiment is from a retired SU set called Small Sayings, stamped in Marina Mist, and shaded just a wee bit with some ink and an aquapainter to give it dimension!

And on the inside, I added a little narrow strip of the same DSP, different pattern, and a sentiment from Papertrey:

I thoroughly enjoyed this sketch, and I hope you'll play along with it as well!  You can share it on the TSOT blog, or we even have a Facebook page where you can enter it too!

Some of Cassidy's chalkwork:  that's a bear (sort looks like a pig to me, but what do I know?) and a mouse with a long pink tail, walking in the grass at night, with a moon in the sky!  Sure it is!
