CAS Twinchie Poinsettia

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Halfway through the week!  There are lots of Christmas challenges out there, so I am throwing my hat in the ring for a few of them!  SUO wants Christmas in July; CAS Christmas wants a poinsettia; and AAA Cards wants a "twinchie" with the option of Christmas!

So here we go:

I began by diecutting a mini poinsettia from Poppy Parade cardstock using the smallest Poinsettia dies.  I gave it a bit of shading with some Real Red ink, offsetting two layers together.  The Garden Green leaves are from the same die, and I used some gold Glimmer paper from a past Holiday mini catalog a few years back for the center.  It went on a panel of Basic White that I ran diagonally through the retired Basketweave embossing folder:

The "twinchie" can't be any bigger than 2", with nothing over the edge, so when I stamped my sentiment from the retired Seasonal Chums set, I cut it out with a Tasteful Labels die, then ran it through again to shorten it so it would fit within the 2" requirement.  I used the same Glimmer paper to create a scalloped frame to finish it off.  It all went on a plain Basic White card front!  Another for my Christmas card stash, and my Christmas club girls just might see this one some time because I really like how it came out!  Thanks for popping in today!

Yesterday at dusk I came home from a meeting and the sun was SO RED in the hazy sky, I just had to stop and take a picture.  It's not very clear, but hopefully you can get the picture!  My nephew told me it was reflecting the fires on the west coast!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTS319 Many Thanks

Hey peeps!  Happy Tuesday, and the last day of April!  I made a quick card yesterday for the CAS(E) this Sketch sketch:

Again, I am trying to use up some of my DSP, so I used some Animal Expedition for the lower corner, added some washi tape....stuff that I buy and rarely use, so I am trying to use it up, too... a few stamped sentiments, and a fun circular element from Stitched All Around:

Just for fun (and since I already had the stamp in the Stamparatus), I stamped the element again on a little scrap of DSP and fussy-cut it out to adhere to the top!  I also added a little black circle beneath the diecut!  It only takes a little bit of extra embellishment to step up your stamping!

And I promised to show our projects from Saturday's party...the hostess loves Halloween and wanted to do some watercolor techniques, so this is what we made:

We used some retiring stamps and dies, and learned about loose and controlled watercoloring with an aquapainter.  The wood crate contains a few Lindor chocolates wrapped in orange foil; when I went to buy the candies just before Easter, the clerk at the CVS said to me, "You know you have the wrong holiday, right?" I am sure she thought I was a bit batty!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy went to an overnight church camp....and they had her favorite for lunch:  mac and cheese!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SIP127 All Wrapped Up

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Our latest Stamp Ink Paper challenge is a fun one---All Wrapped Up!

No automatic alt text available.

I already had this little snowman from Seasonal Chums colored and cut out, so I set out to do something with him!  The stamp presents itself as a tag, but I didn't necessarily want to use him as a tag, but I did use him as an embellishment on a little Wood Crate:

I created the crate with the Wood Crate die, using Smoky Slate cardstock and stamping the Hardwood background stamp on it with Craft White ink.  I used a few retired products to create my little "sign" in Real Red and Bermuda Bay, then added some Mini Tinsel Trim and some holly leaves from the Quilt Builder die.  The berries were created with a scrap of Real Red Glimmer paper and my 1/8" circle punch:

Last, I added a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds glitter and some recycled tissue paper from my latest Paper Pumpkin (which I haven't even opened yet!!):

The design team has created some wonderful tags and packaging....be sure to check them out, leave some love, and share your gifty packaging with us as well!  Can't wait to see what you bring to the party!

Cassidy got her own little snowman over the weekend...unfortunately it's one of those annoying toys that mimics what you say....thank goodness there's an "off" button!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

JUGS418 Thankful

Happy Monday, peeps!  Hope you had a good weekend!  It was a good one here....but I didn't get any stamping done!!!  My mojo is somewhat on vacation, so I thought I would post a card I made a couple weeks ago but never posted.  It happened to fit the Just Us Girls challenge of "thankful":

My very talented Paper Players teammate Joanne made a card a couple months ago using the Seasonals Chums pumpkin, stamping it in a light color and watercoloring it, and I have been wanting to try that same technique myself!  So I gave it a shot; it is definitely something I need some practice with, but all in all, I was happy with how it turned out

And here it is on the card; I let the pumpkin take center stage!  I used the matching die to cut it out, mounted it on a panel that was embossed with the Quilt Top EF and added a sentiment from Painted Harvest:

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

LRW417 and IM323 Red Deer

Happy Saturday!  Hope you're having a great weekend so far!  I apologize for so many Christmas cards lately...it's what's on my mind and schedule, and I promise soon I'll do something else!  This card today is for two challenges, the Little Red Wagon "red" challenge and the In(k)spire Me challenge to make a circle card:

This card base is made from Glossy White cardstock...SU had this a long time ago and brought it back, and I haven't seen anyone use it!  It's sturdy and good for a shaped card like this one!  I used a Circles Framelit to cut it out at around 4", leaving a tiny little fold uncut at the top for the hinge:

The size allows it to still fit in a standard-size envelope!  The sentiment is from Seasonal Chums, which has come in handy several times!  The other elements are cut from Cherry Cobbler cardstock and Be Merry DSP, with the trees and deer cut from the Card Front Builder Framelits:

The scenery is covered with Wink of Stella for a nice little shine, and it's too bad you can't see it here!  This was a fun, easy card to make, and I love that it's a different shape!

Thanks for popping in today and be sure to stop back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge!

A few scenes from a walk a took last week (and from which I managed to get poison ivy all over my face and neck!!!!):

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

A Little Snowy Scene

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I am so excited, because today our floor is being installed!  It will be a two-day process, but I know the installers will be able to get a large portion of it done today!  My BIL helped John put the crown molding on the cabinets earlier in the week, so slowly, the remodel is getting done!  There are still a lot of things left to do, especially touch-up painting.  I may be able to create a card, but painting woodwork is definitely not my forte!  But anyway, I have a big party coming up Friday night and I wanted to make some new samples with a few Holiday Mini sets, so I pulled out Hearts Come Home and some blue hues of ink and came up with this:

I just lined up the houses and stamped them in various shades, then stamped the trees, cut them out, and diecut a snowman with the Hometown Greetings die to create my little scene:

I mounted it on a strip of Christmas From Around the World DSP...love that print! And can you see the little footprints I drew in the snow?!  Finally, I added a little Dazzling Diamonds for some sparkle!  Thanks for popping in today!

Here's what Halloween looks like at McDonalds:

Since she's wearing a crown AND a unicorn face, I am not quite sure what she is supposed to be, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP359 BOO!

Hi everyone!  It's Sunday, and we are spending some time on the Elk River in Maryland!  But I was able to get some stamping done before we left and made a fun Halloween card using Laurie's cute Paper Players sketch:

I had several ideas for this sketch, it's so versatile, and I decided to use this cute little pumpkin from Seasonal Chums!  It's not just for tags!  Check it out:

I stamped it on watercolor paper and colored it in with an aquapainter and inks, then fussy-cut it out (I actually forgot I have the die, DUH!).  I mounted it on a panel of Spooky Night DSP that was cut with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border die and accented with a piece of Pumpkin Pie glimmer paper cut with the same die:

I also cut out a sentiment from the same glimmer paper:

and added a spider sitting on some spider web-embossed background:

I added a Basic Black glimmer paper bat diecut from the Seasonal Tags Framelits and some stamping from Spooky Cat for my inside:

As I said, this sketch is extremely versatile, so I hope you'll share your creation with us at our blog! Be sure to check out the DT's creations as well:

My sweet friend and teammate Sandy sent Cassidy this adorable little owl made from some fabric that SU used to sell!  Her name is Hannah...isn't she cute?!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
