PP534 Seaside Thanks

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Anne Marie is our hostess for this week's Paper Players challenge, and she has a great sketch for us all:

The Seaside Notions stamp set is retiring and it's one of my favorites, so I thought I'd pair it with some Sand & Sea DSP for my card today!  I actually made two cards, as I needed some thank you cards for my online customers!  Here's the first one:

I stamped the shells in Rococo Rose and Seaside Spray and sponged them to give them a very light color!  I added some Whale of a Time sequins to the Stitched Shape circle and finished it with some Polka Dot Tulle ribbon.  The next one is the same, except I used a stitched square, some Seaside Spray twine and a resin embellishment:

My final addition was a fussy-cut sentiment from Here's A Card, stamped in Gray Granite:

Just a heads-up....Stitched Shapes is my MOST-USED set of dies, and it is retiring!  If you don't have it, get it now!  Thanks for visiting today!  Be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to check out what the other designers created as well, then share yours with us as well!

A few people from our church got together to do some bowling yesterday!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP525 Seashell Thanks for Joanne's Sketch

Happy Sunday, all!  It's time for a new Paper Players challenge, and the fabulous Joanne has a terrific sketch for us this week:

I had a lot of ideas swirling around in my head for this sketch, it's so versatile, and in the end I opted to use some of the new Sand & Sea DSP, along with some diecuts from Smooth Sailing!  Here we go:

Once I got the basic idea in my head, this went together pretty quickly!  I diecut a piece of this pretty pink patterned paper with a Stitched Rectangle die, then filled in the remaining white area with several of the "seaweedy" diecuts from Smooth Sailing.  I adhered them randomly around the edges, then "painted" them with some water and a little bit of Frost White Shimmer paint.  It gives the seaweeds a beautiful shimmery effect!

For the focal point, I stamped a shell from Seaside Notions in white craft ink on Blushing Bride cardstock, heat embossed it with white embossing powder, then tinted some of the same Frost White Shimmer paint with a tiny bit of Rococo Rose ink and painted the inside of the shell, then fussy-cut it out:

It's really pretty IRL!  The final step was to add a sentiment banner stamped in Rococo Rose with a sentiment from Lots of Heart!  I admit I had a little trouble with the pink color in this DSP; SU says the colors of the papers are Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo and Melon Mango, none of which really match this paper very well.....I think it's a cross between Blushing Bride and Rococo Rose.  I would be interested in knowing what other demonstrators think!

Thank you so much for popping in today!  I hope you'll play along with Joanne's sketch...it's a great one and the design team has made some amazing samples!  Please hop over to the Paper Players to see what they made, and to share yours with us as well!

GDP272 Seashore Thank You

Happy New Year, stamping friends!  I am taking my tree down today, and that's about it...relaxing for the rest of the day!  I found some stamping time yesterday to create a card for the Global Design Project, which is to CASE the designer:

I began with a beautiful piece of Sand & Sea DSP, and added a panel of Whisper White that was diecut with an Ornate Layers die:

I stamped three shells from Seaside Notions in Rococo Rose, So Saffron and Magenta Madness, then lightly watercolored each one and fussy cut them out, layering them on top of a Polka Dot Tulle ribbon:

My sentiment is from the new set Lots of Love, also stamped in Rococo Rose!  Such a pretty font.  A simple card but that DSP really makes for a beautiful background!  Thanks for popping in today!

I love this shot of my great-nephews from a couple of weeks ago...they LOVED being out in the snow!  Look at those rosy cheeks!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

GDP253 Times Two

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I have a couple of cards today, both use the colors from the current Global Design Project challenge:

I happened to see a free digital image offered on the FB page of the Coffee Loving Papercrafters, so I printed it out and was just playing around with one of the images using the challenge colors.  Other than the fact that my Blends bled a wee bit, it turned out pretty good, so I fussy cut it out and made this card:

The green cup was colored with Granny Apple Green Blends; the coral cup was colored with Calypso Coral markers, and the white cup was dotted with a So Saffron Blend.  I fussy cut the words from the sentiment as well and mounted everything on a stitched rectangle embossed with a polka dot embossing folder:

The sketch I used is from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

The second card uses the Ornate Garden Specialty DSP, on which I colored several of the flowers and leaves with Blends; they are outlined in gold embossing, so they're quite easy to color in:

I added some Gold Foil borders, Calypso Coral embossing and Granny Apple Green DSPs; the sentiment is from Seaside Notions:

And this sketch is from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge:

Thanks so much for popping in today!

I don't think I had shared this on my blog, but a couple of weeks ago I woke up to find my sunflowers pretty much decimated:

Some were bitten off altogether and strewn in the flower bed and yard;

some were just nibbled on:

On my FB page, suggestions were raccoons (my thought), deer and squirrels.  We managed to see the culprit a few days later:

I haven't been filling my feeders because the squirrels clean them out in a day....so the sunflower seeds were the next best thing!  Well, I didn't plant them...they seeded themselves from the same feeders, so I guess I can't complain!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

All Things Fabulous for Summer

Hello, peeps, and happy Monday!  I am getting a laaaate start today, but it is Monday, after all!  I have a birthday card I made for a special friend who loves the ocean!  It uses the sketch from Fusion Card Challenge and the theme from Global Design Project:

So here we go:

So, this whole card was a bit of an experiment!  I recently got SU's stencils, and I wanted to play with them, so I stencilled the leafy pattern in Pool Party on some Whisper White cardstock, and added some of the "leaves" (that look like bubbles to me) from the new Life is Beautiful set.  They are stamped very lightly, but maybe you can see them here:

I added some Soft Seafoam seaweed using a die from Smooth Sailing and three little sand dollars from Seaside Notions:

They were stamped in Sahara Sand on white cardstock, and to give them a wee bit of color, I also brayered them to color them, then added a little darker color with an aquapainter.  My sentiment is from All Things Fabulous, stamped in Pool Party and I used the Banners Pick a Punch to notch the edges:

The last thing was to add a couple of sequins, and mount it on a Pool Party base.  And since my base is a non-neutral, I am squeaking this in at the last minute for the Seize the Birthday challenge, as well as the Always Fun Challenge of stencils!:

Thanks so much for popping in today!!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Beachy Thanks

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I have a thank you card today for one of my customers!  Here we go:

It uses images from Seaside Notions, stamped on Shimmery White cardstock and watercolored, and a wee little sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings!  The sketch is from CAS(E) this Sketch:

And my colors and theme are from Hand Stamped Sentiments and TGIF Challenges:

After fussy-cutting my shells out, I mounted them on a Stitched Shape square diecut, adding some speckles of "ocean" along with some sequins:

and the side panel is a diecut from Tasteful Labels, embellished with a Mint Macaron seaweed, diecut from the Smooth Sailing dies:

I added a little snippet of retired Bermuda Bay ribbon and mounted everything on a panel of Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Subtle EF.  This is all ready to pop in the mail!  Thanks for you popping in today, too!

No Cassidy pix today, but I took some photos last week on my morning walk; it was quite foggy and all the spider webs that normally are invisible were quite apparent:

This is my favorite; when I put it on my screensaver, it looked like a chandelier!  Beautiful!  I do not want spiders in my house, but outside, they're pretty amazing!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SPS001 Beachy Birthday

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I have a sweet little birthday card, using a sketch from Mary Fish!  She's started a Stampin' Pretty Sketchbook challenge, and although she doesn't have a link, she says to share it on social media...which would have to be my FB page, as I don't normally do Instagram!  I guess I'll have to try to get into the 21st century!  My problem is that I don't take very good pix with my phone...my trusty old camera does a better job for me!  Anyway, here's the sketch:

Stampin' Pretty Sketchbook #sps001

So here's my take on it!  I love all the new things in the mini catalog, but I have so many sets from the current catalog, they sometimes get forgotten!  Today I am using the Seaside Notions set:

I masked, stamped and watercolored the shells with Stazon Black and So Saffron, Soft Seafoam, Blushing Bride and Marina Mist inks, then fussy-cut them and arranged them on a Whisper White square with a Blushing Bride scalloped mat:

I added a sentiment from the same set and enhanced it with some pearls and a wee bit of Petal Pink ribbon; it all went on a Soft Seafoam gingham DSP panel and a Soft Seafoam card base, embossed with the Subtle embossing folder:

I am also adding this to the Global Design Project challenge this week, which is "celebration"!!

This is already out in the mail to a very special someone!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy your day and be blessed!
