PP738 Beeutiful Wings

Happy Sunday, peeps! Joanne is our Paper Players hostess this week and she has a fun clean-and-simple challenge for us:

Oh, so many things could fit this bill, right?!  Just remember to keep things clean-and-simple!  So here we go:

I have lots of bee stamps, but this detailed one from Queen Bee is one of my favorites!  My color palette came from the Inspired By challenge this week:

I stamped the queen bee in Versafine ink and colored her in with an aquapainter and inks and fussy cut her out. I stamped her again on a gingham Everyday Arches diecut and mounted the fussy-cut one on top:

I added a sentiment from Darcy's Designs as well as some blue sequins, and mounted it on a panel that was embossed with the Hive embossing folder.  I am also entering this at the CAS on Sunday Challenge, where they are also looking for "Things for Wings"!  I know a blue bee is probably a wee bit unusual, but I just love that color combo!

I hope you'll play with our Clean-and-Simple "Things that Fly" challenge too! Be sure to share your creation with us at our Paper Players blog!  See you there! Thanks for popping in today; enjoy it and be blessed!

SOS542 One Layer Thinking of You

Happy mid-week, peeps!  The Shopping our Stash challenge is to make a one-layer card!  We all love layers and layers, don't we?  Using just one sheet of cardstock seems just minimalistic!!  But I gave it a go:

I used Thick Very Vanilla cardstock for my base and used an acrylic block to create my background; I simply plonked the block on to the Crushed Curry inkpad and then used it as a stamp!  I am thinking I should have "stamped off" once to get a lighter shade, but I went with it.  I overstamped it with one of the scripts from Elements of Text in Crumb Cake, then stamped the floral image and bee from Queen Bee in Stazon Saddle Brown.

The sentiment is from Everyday Greetings.  I did add some speckles from the Elements of Text too:

I already have a recipient in mind for this card, so it will be in the mail tomorrow!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

I will remember your great deeds, Lord; I will recall the wonders you did in the past.  I will think about all that you have done; I will meditate of all your mighty acts.  Psalm 77:11-12

FMS593 Fun Folds

Happy Thursday, everyone!  The FMS sketch this week is a fun one, especially since Karren has challenged us to make a "bridge" card....a type of fun fold.  She gives a link to some directions in her post, but I challenged myself to wing it!  So here's the sketch:

And here's my card, using the Queen Bee and Lasting Joy stamp sets:

I stamped the bee with Stazon ink on vellum, then colored the back side with a Crushed Curry marker:

I used a Crushed Curry card base with Inked Botanicals  DSP for my accent layers.  The sentiment on the inside panel is from Lasting Joy, stamped in Memento Black.

The measurements for my card are very simple!  I took a piece of cardstock 5 1/2" x 7"', and on the 7"side, from each end, score at 1"and 1 3/4".  Fold in the two sides so that it forms a sort of box shape, and that's it!  Here's a side view:

The horizontal piece I used is 3 1/2" across; you can make it as high as you like, and you can decorate it in whatever way you like!  When you fold this flat, it will still fit into a standard-sized envelope.  And the signature can be written on the back side!

And I had so much fun making the bee one, I made another:

This one uses Flirty Flamingo cardstock and I realized I used Calypso Coral DSP....dang, I always get those two colors mixed up, LOL!  Circle Sayings provided all the images and sentiment!  I colored the cupcake with Blends, and added some Wink of Stella and a rhinestone "cherry"!

I am also going to pop one of these in over at Krafty Chicks, where their theme this week is "Stamp Act"---stamp something!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC530 Pray Without Ceasing

Happy Tuesday, peeps! The sketch from Atlantic Hearts always inspires me and this week is no exception!

I recently got some really pretty bee-themed papers, and I also just got the Queen Bee set (it's still available through Online Exclusives) so I thought I would use them together to make a card thanking our guest minister for his amazing message on Sunday!  So here we go:

I stamped, watercolored and fussy-cut the bee; although it's hard to see, the background of the leaves is Crumb Cake, the the florals are Crushed Curry:

She is mounted on a diecut piece of Brushed Gold cardstock and the card is embellished with some Metallic Gold pearls.  The sentiment is from Stamp Simply's Farmhouse Scriptural Thoughts.  In case you'd like to recreate the sketch, here are the measurements I used:

Top left panel:  2" x 2 1/8"
Top middle panel:  1 3/4" x 2 1/8"
Top right panel:  1 1/8" x 2 1/8"
Bottom horizontal panel:  1 3/8" x 5 1/8"
Very Vanilla mat:  4 x 5 1/4"
Very Vanilla sentiment banner: 1" x 5", and I hand-cut the fishtails at each end

Thanks so much for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!
