PP719 Color Challenge from Ann

Happy Sunday, stampers! Today is our last Paper Players challenge of the year, with Ann as our hostess, and she has a wonderful color palette for us:

What a great way to end our holiday stamping, right?!  I just had to go with the retired Poinsettia Petals set, embossed in gold, with some Pretty Peacock accents:

I remembered some gold-printed DSP from waaaay back so I pulled that out for a background panel, and I also used the retired Pine Bough embossing folder as well:

The sentiment is from the same poinsettia set, but I mounted it on a banner from the Peaceful Season set, and added some gold pearls for accent.  The inside sentiment is from Greetings of the Season:

Of course, I had another idea in mind, so I made a second card, similar layout, using the Christmas Labels set and a diecut bell:

And a little sentiment from Lil'Inkers, which is where the bell is from as well, for in the inside:

I hope you'll come play along with our last challenge of the season, and share your color-filled creation wtih us at the Paper Players! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Warm Wishes

Happy Friday, all! I am on a Christmas card roll here!  My card today is for two challenges that I rarely participate in; The Flower Challenge, where they want us to color our flowers; and the Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge, where they also want flowers!

I pulled out Poinsettia Petals along with the mug from Latte Love and did a little watercoloring---I must confess, I wish I had used a black ink instead of gray, but it is what it is:

I used Smoky Slate to stamp my poinsettia, then watercolored it with Real Red, Flirty Flamingo and Berry Burst inks.  The berries were diecut and colored also, highlighted with a white gel pen.  I happened to have a piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock already embossed with this pine embossing folder so I diecut it with the new Spotlight on Nature dies, then added a diecut sentiment. It looked a little plain, so I added some gold pearls to the center. The mug was cut from some retired Dashing Through The Snow DSP.

I'll keep practicing coloring these poinsettias....practice makes perfect, right?  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

TTTC172 Warm Wishes

Hi everyone!  It's Thursday and that means it's time for a new Tic Tac Toe challenge!  Here's our grid from Betty and Team X for today:

I chose the bottom row across of Watercolor, Bright Colors and Floral.  And here we go, with another Christmas card for the year:

I chose the retired Poinsettia Petals for my florals; I heat embossed them with Versamark, Real Red and Garden Green ink, then watercolored them in before diecutting.

I used the diecuts to create a Diamond Flip fun fold that I first saw on my creative friend Cindy's blog.  You can see her directions here.  Here is the card partially open:

I used some Boughs of Holly and Garden Green DSPs for my layers, and I also embossed the Real Red panel with the Greenery EF, but it's hard to see.  And here's the inside:

I stamped a few holly leaves directly on the DSP, and I will warn you: even though I blotted the ink before closing my card, I still got a little on the sentiment when I closed it.  I added a few more "sprinkles" by flicking my aquapainter with some watered-down GG ink on the rest of the sentiment!  My final addition was some sequins from my stash and a diecut sentiment banner!

I am also entering this at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, where they're looking for watercoloring!

I hope you'll find a fun Tic Tac Toe "recipe" on our grid with which to create something this week!  We can't wait to see what you create!  Share it with us at the TTT blog!  Thanks for visiting today!

We saw my great-nephew Cole yesterday for the first time!  Cassidy was in heaven:

Once she got the hang of how to hold him close and snuggly, he went right to sleep!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TTTC154 Warm Wishes

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Heading toward the weekend! It's time for a new Tic Tac Toe challenge, with Team X and Joanne as the hostess!  Here we go:

I have really been neglecting my Christmas card-making lately, so I chose the diagonal of Die Cut, Free, and Gold to create a Christmas card today:

I began with the sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday:

I stamped a poinsettia from Poinsettia Petals in Cherry Cobbler and Versamark inks, then heat-embossed it with some retired Cherry Cobbler embossing powder.  Once it cooled, I colored it with ink and an aquapainter. After diecutting, I adhered it to a panel of DSP from Tidings of Christmas and added a scalloped mat of Gold Foil:

I also added some Evening Evergreen "greenery", a gold center and some gold pearls for embellishment.  The papers are all from Tidings of Christmas as well.  I stamped and heat-embossed a sentiment in gold:

and here's the inside sentiment as well:

I hope you'll play along with our grid this week at Tic Tac Toe!  Be sure to check out what the design team created as well!  Can't wait to see what you create!  And thanks so much for popping in!

Cassidy discovered she likes dill pickles! She can have my lifelong supply!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

GDP316 Case the Designer

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I am playing along with the Global Design Project today, which is to CASE the designer Stesha!

Wow, the original card was just beautiful and I was inspired by the colors and the nature theme, so I went with that, using the Poinsettia Petals for my Christmas card! Here we go:

I started by running a piece of Merry Merlot through the Timeworn Type embossing folder, then distressing it a bit and actually separating it into two layers so it would be thinner to layer on my Crumb Cake card.  I stamped images from Poinsettia Petals, coloring my flower with a Blend and adding a gold foil center, then stamping & diecutting leaves from Garden Green and Soft Seafoam.  It still looked a little bare, so I added some berries, stamped in Crumb Cake and some Glimmer paper greenery and berries as well.  It all went on a circle of Crumb Cake.

I stamped a sentiment from Christmas to Remember on a strip of Crumb Cake, embossed it with the same folder and also separated it so make it flexible so I could pop it up a bit.  The final addition was a little Linen Thread bow.  I usually do things a little more clean, but I do love vintage and distressing, so this was fun to make as well!  I appreciate your popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Razzleberry Poinsettia

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Quick post today; I have a card using the colors from Hand Stamped Sentiments and the sketch from Global Design Project:

I haven't used Poinsettia Petals for a long time, so I pulled it and the Poinsettia dies out for today's creation:

I did a wee bit of stenciling with some Smoky Slate ink, then diecut two sets of poinsettias and sponged the edges with some Craft White ink.  Harvest Meadow DSP and a scalloped square of Misty Moonlight was the base for the flower and I added some "berries" cut from Smoky Slate DSP.  I heat embossed a sentiment on some Vellum and diecut it with a Tailor Made tag die, then added some silver Metallic Pearls.

Here's the inside:

This is such a versatile set, I need to play with it more often!  Thanks for visiting today!

My nephew took his family to Montana over the summer and his wife just shared these photos of Jameson and Sawyer! Look how high they are off the ground in these hammocks!

I think this is the sweetest one!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB153 Poinsettia Sympathy

Hello, stampers and happy Thursday!  Time for a new Inspired By challenge...isn't this a cute one?  So clever!

And here's the optional sketch to use..or not!

All the makin's for some fun snowman goodies!  I went in a bit of a different direction, however; I found out earlier in the week that my cousin Michael lost his battle with a rare form of cancer.  We found out only weeks ago that it was terminal, but it was still a shock when we got the news.  Our grandfather started a florist business back in the 1920s; his son, my uncle Kenny, took over it and then Michael after my uncle went into semi-retirement. Now Michael's brother Brian is running the business.  Why am I telling you all of this?  Going to the "greenhouse" and its particularly wonderful smell, is a part of my childhood that is very special to me, especially at Christmas.  There would be hundreds of poinsettias and other amazing holiday creations (along with that wonderful smell), and so I thought it would be fitting to use poinsettias on a sympathy card for Michael's family.  I chose to pull the Seaside Spray and Basic Gray from the challenge photo for my colors:

The Spot has a "CASE the Designer" challenge this week, so I chose this card and sketch of Andrea's, turning mine in the landscape orientation:

Poinsettias come in so many colors nowadays; I used the smallest one from Poinsettia Petals, stamping it in my Stamparatus twice with Seaside Spray ink to get a darker color, then filling in with the "fill" stamp:

I diecut them with the matching die; added a piece of white organdy ribbon on top of the Basic Gray DSP from last year, then finished them with silver metallic pearls.  After stamping the sentiment in Memento Black, I ran the top layer through the Pinewood Planks EF.  One of my favorite verses from an old Daily Bread Designs set was stamped on the inside:

I hope it brings some comfort to Michael's family.  And I hope you'll find some inspiration in our Inspired By photo too...the DT made some really fun cards; their creativity continues to amaze me!

Thanks so much for popping in today!  And here's a picture from around 1962 of Michael, my sister Joyce and me at my grandmother's house on Christmas day! I particularly remember that Christmas because I wanted drum majorette boots, which I got; however as I trudged around in them all day long, the tassels began to fall out one by one, much to my dismay--and my mom and grandmother's! We were still finding them weeks later!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TCC145 Elegant Christmas

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  A new Card Concept Challenge is upon us...check out this beauty:

I have to admit that I struggled a wee bit with this challenge...these are just not colors that I normally gravitate to, but as I said, I have been having fun perusing my older stamps, and this Christmas Collage set came to mind, with its scrolls and elaborate designs, so I thought to emboss it in gold on black for a Classy and Elegant card:

I wanted to add some Very Vanilla to lighten it up a bit; I just got the For Unto Us set, so I stamped one of the smaller sentiments and diecut it with a Stitched Rectangle die, adding a layer of Gold Glimmer paper behind it along with some retired velveteen ribbon:

Although you can't tell here, the gold embossed poinsettia from Poinsettia Petals is actually two layers: Vellum and Very Vanilla.  I tucked it down into the corner, then layered everything on a Very Vanilla card:

Finally, I added another sentiment to the inside:

That's it for today!  I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week; you could use any of the elements, colors or theme for your creation!  Share it with us over at The Card Challenge blog!

PP516 Peaceful Colors

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Joanne is our Paper Players hostess this week with a great color challenge that is sure to get your holiday stamping on a roll!  Here we go:

The FMS sketch was a good one this week, so I thought I'd put it to work:

And here we go:

Feels Like Frost is a beautiful DSP with photographic images on one side and silver foil designs on the other.  I chose this silver striped paper as a background for a tree from Winter Woods, stamped in Shaded Spruce, and a diecut sentiment (ret) in Real Red.  I added some Real Red scallop trim and enamel dots:

This went together pretty quickly, as it's nice, clean and simple!  And while I had that DSP on my desk, I flipped it over and created another card with the same layout; this time I used a sentiment from Poinsettia Petals, stamped in Misty Moonlight and cut with a Stitched Rectangle die.  For some extra sparkle, I added some blue Glimmer paper as a mat:

Not in the PP colors, but still very pretty!

I hope you'll play along with our colors this week!  We can't wait to see what you create!  Check out what the designers made at our Paper Players blog!  Thanks for popping by!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
