PP767 Challenge from Jaydee

Happy Sunday, all!  Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess with a really fun theme challenge this week:

Hmmm...this is open to so many interpretations!  A gift on your card?  An actual gift you created?  How about a card that looks like a gift!  Here we go:

My inspiration came from the Double D Challenge this week:

Aren't those presents pretty?  I used some old and new products on my card today!  The base is Cherry Cobbler, the top layer is Crumb Cake embossed with a Waffleflower Sweet Plaid Texture die.  I added "ribbons" of paper from Unity, a bell from Lil' Inker (sadly no longer in business), some Tim Holtz Greenery, a shabby tag from Gummiapan, and that cute little bow is Simon Says Stamp! Phew!  Oh, and the sentiment on the tag is also from Simon Says Stamp!

I hope you can find some inspiration from the DT's samples on the Paper Players blog, then squeak in time between all your holiday preparations to play with us!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP766 Tic Tac Toe from Claire

Happy Sunday, peeps! Claire is our Paper Players hostess this week, and since it's the fifth Sunday, it's a Tic-Tac-Toe!  She has some wonderful choices for us!  She must have known how much I love vintage, so my automatic choice was the right column of Vintage, Patterned Paper and Sparkle!  Let's go!

I had a couple of pieces of some lovely vintage papers from Simple Stories left from a pad I got several years ago....they're almost all gone, but I salvaged one piece with this wonderful Santa against a collage of vintage prints.  I didn't want to cut it down, so I made it into a large slimline card measuring 4" x 8"...here we go:

I did have to make the paper a bit narrower, so I trimmed it down and cut out the holly leaves, then added a strip of red glimmer paper and re-attached the remaining paper behind it to fit my card.  I stamped a vintage sentiment in Cherry Cobbler on some of the same paper and diecut it, then adhered it to the front:

Another vintage sentiment on the inside, along with some plaid paper to accent the bottom:

I do love my vintage images and this was a treasure to create! I hope you'll find some good inspiration using Claire's grid for your own card.  Share it with us at the Paper Players blog! Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP765 A Sketch from Ann

Happy Sunday, peeps! Time for a new challenge from the Players! Ann is our hostess with a really lovely sketch for us:

I had some of the papers from the Christmas Tags & More DSP on my desk and I thought one of the designs might make for good elements for this sketch! So here we go:

I started with a Soft Sea Foam card base, then added a mistletoe mat.  The half-wreath image was cut down to size, mounted on a panel of Real Red and a sentiment from Wishing You Joy.  I diecut a bell and bow (Honeybee) from some Champagne Foil, Real Red and Cherry Cobbler cardstocks, then "hung" it from some silver thread:

I just realized I forgot the clapper! Oops!  Oh well!  This sketch is really lovely; I love things in threes, and you could use different papers or images for the three panels, or just cut one apart as I did! So versatile!  I can't wait to see what you do with it! Hop on over to the Paper Players blog to see what the other designers did as well!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP764 Challenge from Stef

Happy Sunday, peeps! Time for a new Paper Players challenge with Stef as our hostess!  It's Clean-and-Simple week too!  Here we go:

What a great theme!!  It had me conjuring up all kinds of ideas! I knew I wanted to do a vintage image, because I love vintage Christmas, and while going through my bulging folder of vintage Christmas ephemera, I came across a page of stickers from Current!  Remember them?  Santa is one of my favorite images for Christmas; he makes me think of my childhood Christmases!  I pulled out some DSP from a few years back and went to work:

I adhered my Santa to a little diecut circle and added a gold scalloped mat becase, as you can see, the Christmas-word DSP is printed in gold foil too!  I recently got this cute banner die, so I diecut it in Real Red, then added another banner of gold foil behind it to help it stand out:

On the inside, I added a Flonzcraft sentiment:

Not a lot of stamping, but a whole lot of cute!  And since Little Red Wagon is looking for gold or silver, I'm going to pop it in over there as well!

Now, what CAS creation will you create for our challenge?!  Remember to keep it simple!  Share it with us at the Paper Players blog! We can't wait to see it!  Thanks for visiting today, enjoy it and be blessed!

PP763 Color Challenge from Jan

Happy Sunday, peeps!  It's Jan's turn to be the hostess at the Paper Players, and she has a nice fall-feeling color palette for us this week:

My dad's cousin is turning 93 this month, so I took advantage of these colors to make him a fall-themed birthday card using some Autumn Toile DSP:

I used some Everyday Arch dies to create a tag with Basic White and Old Olive cardstocks, and used some Mossy Meadow baker's twine for the embellishment.  Sentiments are from Everyday Greetings and Greetings of the Season; the foliage is from Lasting Joy:

Here's the inisde:

Lots of fun ways to use these colors this week! Stop over at the Paper Players blog to see what the other designers did with them!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP762 Thanksgiving Blessings

Happy Sunday, peeps! I am the hostess at the Paper Players this week and we have a "thankful" theme:

I pulled out a really old set called Gift Givers, because I just love this little turkey:

I stamped the image in Pecan Pie and used some Blends to color him in, then punched him out with a matching punch.  I added frames of leaves and acorns from the retired Thankful Forest Friends and diecut a few leaves to tuck in around the sides.  It all went on some plaid paper that was gifted to me by a friend:

I added another strip of the paper on the inside, a leftover leaf, and a sentiment from Honey Bee:

I hope you can find someone to be thankful for this week and play in our challenge!  Be sure to enter it at the Paper Players blog and while you're there, check out what the DT created as well!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP761 Boo! Sketch from Joanne

Hello stampers! Time for a new Paper Players challenge, and Joanne has an awesome sketch for us this week!  So much fun!

I have so many Halloween stamps, it's hard to get to all of them but I couldn't let the month go by without using this funny cat and jack:

This image is from 100 Proof Press, stamped on some Basic White in Versafine Black, then watercolored lightly.  I overstamped it with the retired Weathered background stamp to give it an aged look!  The boo is from an old Recollections stamp as well.  My papers are all from Unity, and they complement the vintage look of my scary cat.  A few orange glimmer stars finished it off!  Here's the inside of the card:

Another vintage goodie from Lizzie Anne, adorned with a couple more stars!

This sketch is so versatile, you can use it for lots of occasions! Be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to see what the designers did with it.  Put on your creative thinking caps then, and share your creation with us!  Thanks for popping in today!

PP760 CAS Foliage

Happy Sunday, all! Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess with a lovely autumn-themed CAS challenge for us:

I had so much fun creating my vivid leaves for a card last week, I decided to do some again, this time using some different dies and a leafy embossing folder as a background.  I know this isn't my usual CAS style, but it really came together quickly:

My dies are from Impression Obsession, and I diecut them from textured paper, then used a blending brush to add color.  I must say, those brushes are amazing for coloring an image quickly!  I ran a piece of Basic Beige through the embossing folder, then added a wee bit of shading around the edge and a little spritz of watery Pecan Pie ink for that "cinnamon" look (at least that's what it looks like to me!):

I stamped a sentiment in Poppy Parade (and I see I got a little too close with my spritzing--I'll have to fix that!) and added some maroon gingham that I colored with a Crumb Cake blend to make it a little more rustic!

I hope you'll play with our CAS challenge this week!  Just remember to keep your stamping and embellishments to a minimum!  Check out what the DT created as well over at the Paper Players blog!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP759 Spooky Trick or Treat

Hello stampers!  Time for a new Paper Players challenge, and Elizabeth is our hostess for this month's color theme!  It's a doozy:

At least it was a doozy for me, as purple is a color I rarely use! I like it, I just don't use it! And normally I try to think outside the box a bit for color challenges, but I decided to embrace the Halloween feel to these colors and go for it!  Here we go:

To be honest, these colors on this card are NOT at all true-to-life!  For some reason, Lemon Lime Twist just does not photograph very well...my card is much brighter that what it looks here!  I stamped some Papertrey images in Memento Black ink, diecut them with a postage die and did a bit of sponging around the edges.  The images were colored with Copics and mounted on a piece of purple paper that has little skulls on it---very faint, but they're there:

I added a black glimmer paper diecut sentiment and some stars, and this sentiment on the inside; I just wish the color was better, but hopefully you'll get the idea:

Obviously, you don't have to go with the Halloween theme using these colors--if you visit the Paper Players blog, you'll see that the Design Team has come up with some other wonderful ways to use these hues! I hope you'll come play along too!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP758 Trick or Treaters

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Claire is our wonderful Paper Players hostess this week and she has a fun challenge for us:

How cute is this!!!  I pulled out a really old SU stamp--this was in the first catalog I ever had--1999!  It fit Claire's challenge perfectly, and gave me a chance to do some watercoloring (okay, a LOT of watercoloring!)....here we go:

I know this whimsical style of artwork isn't as popular as it used to be, but I still love it!  I stamped these little trick-or-treaters in Black Stazon ink and used lots of colors of ink to color them in:

They were mounted on a piece of purple plaid paper from Honey Bee, which was diecut with the Stitched With Whimsy die; I added a diecut sentiment, a little spider web, and I even pulled out a little black bat brad that I have had forever!  Here's the inside sentiment---and it's actually the name of the set:

I wonder if anyone else remembers this set?  How far back does your stamping collection go?  I am showing my age for sure, LOL!  Anyway, I hope you have some Halloween costumes in your stamp collection and you'll use it over at the Players for our challenge this week!  Can't wait to see what you create!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP757 A Wagon Full of Fun

Happy Sunday, all! Stef is our Paper Players hostess this week and she has a wonderful, versatile sketch for us:

I did take a little liberty with the sketch, turning it on its side, because when I stamped my image, I didn't realize how large it was, LOL!  And I bucked the circular shape (which I would normally do) and went with a rectangle!  I found this cute image in my retired fall stamps and just had to give his little guy some ink:

Since my image was so large, I made a larger card--this one measures 4 1/2 x 6 1/4"  I stamped some Timeless Plaid DSP with a little leafy border, then added my watercolored image:

It was stamped on Fluid 100 Watercolor paper and colored with reinkers.  The "hello" is from Unbounded Love.  A really old stamp was used for the inside sentiment:

as well as some little pumpkins I stamped down in the corner!  Some of my old SU favorite styles!

I hope you'll find some inspiration from the DT at the Paper Players--I am sure this sketch will have you coming up with all kinds of ideas!  Share them with us at the blog, we can't wait to see what you create!

PP756 Watercolored Pumpkins

Happy Sunday, peeps! Time for a new Paper Players challenge from Jan!  Clean and Simple as well as watercoloring! Two of my favorites! Here we go:

I drew my inspiration from the sketch at CAS on Sunday as well as these adorable pumpkins from Inspired By:

I stamped and diecut a cute little array of pumpkins from an old Close to My Heart set and watercolored them in some fun colors:

The sentiment is from the same set, and I stamped a knit pattern on some Pecan Pie cardstock for the vertical piece, adding a piece of glimmer for fun, along with a little bronze sequin:

I really love watercoloring, and these were a blast to do! I hope you can get out your paintbrush and inks or paints and come play with us this week!  Remember to keep it CLEAN and SIMPLE, only using a minimum of produts!  See you at the Paper Players!

PP755 Lovely Lemon Thank You

Hi, stamping friends! I am the hostess at the Paper Players this week, and it's color challenge week:

I know most of us are thinking fall hues but I wanted to challenge you to use a more spring-like palette!  I needed a thank you card for my SIL since she took care of my flowers while we were on vacation, so what better stamp to use than Layers of Beauty?!  Here we go:

I stamped my florals in Soft Sea Foam, then stenciled in Lemon Lolly, Soft Sea Foam and Lost Lagoon on the petals and leaves.  I found a piece of Lost Lagoon bokeh print from some Christmas DSP we had a few years back and mounted it behind a Penny Black double scalloped fram.  The floral diecut extended beyond the edge of the card, so I just trimmed them off.

A sentiment from Everyday Greetings was heat-embossed in white on a banner of Soft Sea Foam, distressed a wee bit, and then I added a little Lemon Lolly baker's twine behind it as well as a couple of pearls:

Edited to add:  I am also going to enter this over at the Flower Challenge, where their sketch this week is very similar to mine:

I hope you'll play along with our colors this week, too!  The design team came up with some very interesting designs as well!  Be sure to check them out over at the Paper Players blog! Can't wait to see what you come up with!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!
