PP787 I'm Here For You

Happy Sunday, all!  It's wet, rainy, and chilly this weekend, so no marching in the Memorial Day parade sadly!  But it is time for the latest Paper Players challenge, and I am the hostess this week with an easy sketch for you:

I am trying to use up some of my retired DSPs---a never-ending job, really---and thought one of the scenes from Beautiful Gallery would fit the bill, so here we go:

I used a Rectangle Stitched die to cut out a portion of the design, then a Stitched Shapes to highlight another portion of it.  My background paper is from a couple of years ago, it's a corduroy print from All About Autumn; I liked how it coordinated with the darker blues in the main panel.  A simple sentiment from the retired set Occasional Quotes was stamped on a banner.  My only other embellishments were some little dots placed in the corners.  I did add a sympathy sentiment to the inside, because I like to have some on hand.

I hope you'll find some inspiration from my sketch this week and play along with us at the Players!  While you're there, check out what the DT created and give them some love too!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP786 CAS Challenge from Ann

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Ann is our Paper Players hostess this week with a fun Clean and Simple challenge:

Yum!  There are a myriad of choices with this challenge! Just remember to keep it clean and simple--minimal layers, images and stamps!  I put my new Made With Sweetness dies to work, using the peach die along with the Mini Alphabet dies as well:

I used Crisp Cantaloupe and Pumpkin Pie cardstocks to create my peach slice, adding a little white craft ink to the Pumpkin Pie piece to soften it up a bit.  The tag was cut from some retired Crisp Cantaloupe DSP and a piece of vellum, tied with some Crisp Cantaloupe ribbon.  I shaded the alphabet letters with a Blend to give them a little depth.

I added a sentiment from the retired Sunny Sentiments set:

And I am going to enter this into the TGIF challenge, which is thank you cards:

We can't wait to see what food you will add to your clean and simple card!  Share it with us at the Paper Players blog!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP785 A Color Challenge From Claire

Happy Sunday, and happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!  Claire is our hostess this week at the Paper Players with a marvelous color palette for us to play with:

I usually try to think outside the box with color challenges, but this week I just had to go floral! I haven't used the Layers of Beauty bundle for a while and these seemed like lovely colors for it:

I diecut, stamped and colored these beautiful roses with the challenge colors, then added a bit of a Coastal Cabana wash in between the images where there was a lot of white space.  I did that so that it would blend a wee bit better with the fun diecut background paper using some Coastal Cabana DSP and the Scalloped Contour dies:

I also added an embossed mat in the background as well as a sentiment tag.  The sentiment is from Paeprtrey ink on a Tailor Made Tag die.  I think these purple roses are just beautiful! And I know you'll come up with something beautiful with these colors too!  Share it with us at the Paper Players blog, and you might be the Headliner this week!  Thanks for visiting! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP784 Challenge from Jaydee

Happy Sunday, peeps! Time for a new challenge from the Players, and Jaydee is our hostess this week with a wonderful theme!  Here we go:

This should be an easy one, right?!  I have had this gingham border floating around on my desk for weeks, left over from another project, so I decided to put it to use!  I needed a birthday card for a young woman at church who sings with Dana in our ensemble, but she is also an accomplished baker!  She made some tiramisu to share at ensemble practice, and Dana, knowing that tiramisu is my FAVORITE dessert, actually shared some with me! YUM!  So this card is for her:

I know that baking isn't necessarily an all-feminine theme, but it is for me today!  These images are all from Lawn Fawn's Baked with Love, stamped in black, diecut and colored with Blends or Copics:

The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs' Mini Tag Sentiments, and I also used the new SU Product of the Month Eyelet Blooms die, but instead of diecutting it, I dry embossed it for a background!  Pretty  Here's the inside of the card:

I hope she likes it! And I hope you like our theme well enough to play along with us this week!  Check out what the other designers created at the Paper Players blog and come share yours with us too!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP784 Sketch from Stef

Happy Sunday, all!  Time for a new challenge from The Players, and Stef is our fabulous hostess this week. I love sketches--so many possibilities!  Check hers out:

Lovely!  This is the time of the year I am frantically trying to use up some of the beautiful papers that will be retiring soon! (Anyone else do that?)  I have neglected the pretty Nests of Winter as well as the Country Woods, so I decided to combine them on my card today:

I first covered my card front with some printed paper from Nests of Winter (they look like little birdie feet, don't they?) and added a strip of the Country Wood paper, along with a thin little diecut strip in a darker shade.  I liked the little pops of color from those wood panels!  I diecut these little birds with the Spotlight on Nature dies and backed it with a scalloped mat.  A wee little stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs fit on the open space perfectly.

My final addition was a little bow of some Linen thread to complement the natural feel of the card!  I have a friend in TOPS who recently broke her collarbone, so this will be going to her!

I hope you'll find some inspiration  with Stef's sketch and play along with us at the Players! We can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP782 Fawned of You

Happy Sunday, all!  Hope you're having a good weekend so far!  It's Christy's turn to be the hostess at the Paper Players, and it's clean-and-simple week! She has a sweet theme for it, too! Check it out:

What a fun theme!  Remember, it needs to be clean and simple!  Not a lot of embellishments or layers (although mine does have a couple of them!). I went searching through my plethora of paper and stamps and went a real easy route, letting the paper do most of the work!  Here we go:

I remembered I had some really cute papers from Craft Consortium with lots of woodland creatures and greenery on it, so I diecut a little fawn from one piece, added a scallop border and a couple more of the forest babies (massive fussy-cutting skills here!) along the edges:

And since those Poppy Whittle Sayings were still on my desk, I couldn't resist adding a punny sentiment!  Oh, and I did emboss my Natural White cardstock panel with a Burlap embossing folder before adhering it to a Basic Beige card base.  I wish SU still carried the Natural White cardstock; it's such a good fit with nature-themed cards!

The Design Team at the Players has really come up with some fun creations!  Be sure to pop on over to the Paper Players to give them some love, then share your clean-and-simple baby animal creativity with us as well!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP781 Extreme Dirt Bike Birthday

Happy Sunday, all!  Time for a new Paper Players challenge and Jan is our hostess with an interesting color challenge:

I confess that my first thought when seeing these colors was to use them with my beloved bumblebees---perfect colors, don't you think?  BUT I needed a birthday card for my nephew Jameson, and he loves dirt bikes, so I switched gears (no pun intended) and went in a different direction:

I started by stamping some grunge elements in Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight, then stamped the biker with Stazaon Black ink.  I added some stitched lines to look like tracks, then a simple birthday sentiment and some gray metal embellishments.

It went on a Smoky Slate card base with this sentiment on the inside:

I may have used this same stamp on his card last year (can't remember) but I hope he doesn't mind!  Here's a photo of Jameson (on the right) with Maven and Sawyer at Christmas!  They're all getting so big!

I hope you'll create something with these great colors this week!  Not only are they good bee colors, they're probably good for some other cool subjects as well!  Can't wait to see what you create!  Share them with us at the Players!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP780 A Theme Challenge

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Happy Easter!  I am the hostess at the Paper Players today and we have a seasonal theme:  Spring Showers!

I took my cue from that cute pair of rain boots at the top center since I have a fun little die that matches perfectly!  Here we go:

My papers are from Echo Park's Bee Happy (love those papers); the boots die is from Impression Obsession, and the flowers are from SU's Pierced Blooms:

The sentiment is from Cutest Crew, which is my new most-favorite stamp, LOL!  I also used the sketch from Hand-Stamped Sentiments for my layout, although I realized AFTER I made my card that the sentiment is in the wrong place!  Ooops!
And since the Inspired By challenge this week is  "Boots", I am entering it there as well!

There aren't many "showers" on this card but it's certainly spring-y!  I hope you'll play along with our theme challenge this week at the Paper Players--lots of inspiration from which to choose!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP779 Tic Tac Toe from Ann

Happy Sunday, peeps! Time for a new Paper Players challenge, and the creative Ann is our hostess with a Tic-tac-toe grid for us, since it's the fifth Sunday!  Here we go:

I chose the top row across of die cut, twine and sentiment!  I thought I was done with my Easter cards, but decided to send out a couple more, and I fell in love with this wee little trio of bunnies from Inspired By:

I chose to only use that little bun-bun on the left, but I did use the challenge colors as well.  Here we go:

I had not used my Tim Holtz bunny die this year yet, so it seemed a good time!  I dicut two bunnies and stamped one with a gingham stamp, then adhered a plain white face.  The carrot was diecut with Crumb Cake and Copper Clay, and everything was mounted on a stitched oval with a Misty Moonlight scalloped mat.  I added a little twine bow...I just didn't have any buttons tiny enough to add one!  The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I embossed a piece of Basic White to sit atop a diecut panel of Misty Moonlight.  And here's the inside:

I used the sketch from Sunday Stamps as well:

Again, this card uses a bit more pieces and layers than I normally do, but I just love this bunny and his carrot! I think I'll send this to one of my college roommates!

I hope you'll play along with our grid this week! SO many possibilities, we can't wait to see what you do with them!  Be sure to share them with us at the Players! Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP778 Sketch Challenge from Claire

Happy Sunday, peeps! Hope your weekend is going well so far!  Claire is our Paper Players hostess with a wonderful sketch--I just love banners!  Here we go:

I had an idea in my head to make a little "diorama" Easter egg--remember them? You peeked in a hole in the side of the egg and you'd see a little scene!  Mine didn't quite turn out the way I imagined, but it was still a fun card to create.  Here we go:

I recently got some pretty papers from Craft Corsortium called Bloom and Wild; they have florals on one side and these pretty watercolors on the other.  I diecut two eggs, cutting an opening in one, then adding a little diecut bunny:

If I were to do this again, I probably wouldn't add the pearls and the little punched flowers around the edge--they were supposed to represent the "icing" around the opening! I think it's a little busy! I created the banner with the opposite side of the papers and added an Easter sentiment from Our Daily Bread, stamped in Strawberry Slush.  The horizontal piece has a diecut scalloped border, and it all went on a panel embossed with the Lovely Stripes embossing folder.  The little bow on the bottom of the egg is from the Mini Treat Bag dies.

This sketch is really versatile and I hope you'll play with us! Check out what the other designers at the Paper Players did with it!  Thanks so much for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP777 CAS Challenge from Jaydee

Happy Sunday, all!  Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess this week with a timely, fun Clean-and-Simple challenge:

There are always lots of options for florals, right?!  For my card, I also chose to use the color challenge from Retro Rubber as well:

So here we go:

I am really trying to use some of my older stamps; these florals happen to come from a Paper Pumpkin kit; I would say it's at least five or six years old, perhaps older, because I haven't done Paper Pumpkin for a while!  I stamped the flowers and leaves on a piece of Basic White cardstock and watercolored them with Bubble Bank, Strawberry Slush, Granny Apple Green and Mossy Meadow inks.  I then fussy-cut them out and mounted them on a Bubble Bath frame on top of a Basic White card base.

I also diecut a little cross-stitch pattern around the edge of the card--still keeps it clean and simple, but adds some interest!  Finally my sentiment is from Suite Sayings (2016), stamped in Strawberry Slush.  It is always fun to use some older stuff!

I hope you'll play with our challenge this week!  Remember to keep it CLEAN and SIMPLE--minimal stamps, layers and embellishments!  Share it with us over at the blog!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP776 Color Challenge from Joanne

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Did you remember to adjust your clocks yesterday?!  "Adjust" being the operative word---it does take some adjustment, doesn't it?  Well, anyway, Joanne is our hostess at the Paper Players this week with a fun color challenge:

Since I am in the midst of making Easter cards, I chose to use pale rainbow shades for my little Easter peeps card:

I cut my Basket Bunch peeps from cardstocks in Bubble Bath, Peach Pie, Lemon Lolly, Soft Sea Foam, Balmy Blue, Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather, then stamped them in Versafine black ink.  They went into an egg diecut with the Excellent Egg dies from some Papertrey Chicken Scratch gingham papers.  I set them in some Granny Apple Green grass and added a Fresh Freesia bow:

The sentiment is from CTMH's Easter Animals set.  I mounted the egg on a Basic White panel that was embossed with the Basket Weave embossing folder, then added some sequins before I put it all on a Fresh Freesia card.  Here's the inside (that Fresh Freesia is a challenge to photograph!):

I just love this little lineup, although in real life, I really don't care for much of anything that's made from marshmallow!  I do have ONE roasted marshmallow a year over our Harvest party campfire, LOL!  How about you?  Are you a peeps fan?  Did you know that peeps are made right here in PA, and there is actually a peeps store in National Harbor, MD?! The Bethlehem, PA factory makes 5.5 million peeps A DAY! Yowza!

Well, whether you like peeps or not, we'd love to see your rainbow-hued creations! You don't have to use a rainbow, just some rainbowcolors!  Check out what the DT has created at the Paper Players blog, then come play along!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP775 Theme Challenge from Christy

Hello, stamping friends! Happy March!  Christy is our Paper Players hostess this week with a theme challenge I don't think we've ever had before:

I realized I do NOT have any "mythical creature" stamps, but I did have one leprechaun stamp from an older SU set called Gift Givers (2011), so I decided to get him inky.  Later on, I thought about the fact that I have some gnome stamps, and they would probably be okay too, in case you share the same dilemma as I do!  So here we go:

I inked up this little guy and did some coloring with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol....still practicing that technique!  I diecut him with a Stylish Shapes die and added a scalloped mat of Lemon Lime Twist and mounted that all on a couple of panels diecut with the Everyday Arches dies.  I stamped a few random little clovers from Itty Bitties (2013) and that all went on a piece of green madras plaid DSP from Memory Box:

My sentiment is from a REALLY old Purple Onion set (probably 2010 or so) and the diecut shamrocks are from Impression Obsession.  On the inside, I added another strip of the same plaid paper, a sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs and a few more stamped and diecut shamrocks!

And since I am using several older sets, I am entering this in the RetroRubber challenge, where they're looking for the Luck of the Irish:

as well as the Card Concept, where they're looking for shades of green:

I would say that my card concept is "clean and layered", and I was inspired by the green plaid and the lovely colors!

I hope you'll be able to play along with us at the Players this week, it's such a fun challenge!  We can't wait to see what you come up with!  Thanks so much for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!
