TMS653 Sorbet Sunflower

Happy Wednesday, peeps! My card today is bright, you'd better put on your sunglasses!  It uses one of SU's new In Colors, Sweet Sorbet!  I paired it with Celebrate Sunflowers and Jar of Flowers for a fun thank you card for one of my customers!  Here we go:

I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

I started with some new Sweet Sorbet DSP, cutting out a section with a Stitched Rectangle die, then flipping over the cut-out piece and cutting it with the next smaller size down die.  I stamped the jar from Jar of Flowers in Pool Party, then added the smaller sunflower stamped in Sweet Sorbet and Soft Succulent (for the leaves).  I colored in each section with a blender pen, then mounted them on a circle that was embossed with the Dots EF:

I added a sentiment from Ornate Thanks, a wee bit of Soft Succulent ribbon and some In Color Matte Dots to finish it off!  I think it's fun to use a floral image in a different color than expected!  I am trying to get used to the new colors....they're a little intense for me, but I am sure I will warm up to them.  Thanks for visiting today!

Can't ignore Dana and Wayne....although it looks like Wayne has a big pirate's earring, it's really his sunglasses strap, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS505 Big Leaves

Good morning, peeps, happy Saturday!  We are doing a yard sale today, so this will be quick!  I had a leftover diecut circle from this card and thought it would be perfect for this week's FMS sketch:

The only problem was that it was WAY too big for a standard card, so I decided to make a bigger one!  This is 5" x 7", as I had just gotten some envelopes that size!  I diecut another leaf and circle, backed them with some plaid DSPs and here we go:

My friend Michele has been doing some cool stuff with stencils on her backgrounds, so I was inspired to give that a try as well.  I stencilled lightly with a SU mask and some Sahara Sand ink and I like the effect!  My final addition, after a sentiment from Ornate Thanks, was to add some dots and pearls!

And on the inside, it says "Happy Birthday"!  Thanks for popping in today!

As I was taking things out to the garage for our yard sale, I noticed this little fella (or maybe it's a she?) in my hanging geranium basket.  Thought it could hide from me!

This is definitely the time of the year to see them!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TCC159 Purple Pumpkin

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  It's time for the Card Concept challenge to begin again after our summer break!  Check out this amazing inspiration photo Julie wrangled up for us:

I was really challenged by this because you know I'm not a purple gal!  BUT I really wanted to highlight that pretty purple leaf, and it matched our Fresh Freesia so well, I just jumped right in with the leafy pumpkin image from Pretty Pumpkins.  Nowadays, pumpkins come in a plethora of colors, but I am not sure I've ever seen a purple one!

For my clean and layered card, I began by stamping a pumpkin in each of Fresh Freesia, Soft Succulent, Crushed Curry and the retired Primrose Petals colors, then fussy-cutting leaves from each color to adhere on to the Freesia one.  For my background, I stamped images from one of my fall favorites, French Foliage, on a piece of Fresh Freesia and embossed it with the Timeworn Type EF.  I added a couple of little tendrils in Soft Succulent and made a sentiment from Biggest Wish and Ornate Thanks:

My sketch inspiration is from the GDP challenge for this week:

What will inspire you from our photo this week?  Be sure to check out the different styles on the Card Concept blog, then share your beautiful creation with us too.  And while you're there, see what the DT came up with as well...they're gorgeous, as usual!  Thanks for popping in today!

Banner Year Banners

Hi peeps!  I am still catching up from vacation, so I thought I'd share a card I made last month but never posted! Banner Year is such a fun little stamp set; it has lots of great holiday images and sentiments, and I realized there were a few I had never gotten inky! I needed a thank you for a customer, so this is what I came up with:

I started by stamping the acorns and holly berries (I know, it's weird, but I thought it looked cute) on a Crumb Cake card base.  I diecut three banners from Very Vanilla with a die from Tasteful Labels and stamped my images on each one.  I added a little Mossy Meadow braided trim and a sentiment from Ornate Thanks and it was done!  It was simple and fun, and I love the bright colors against the neutral background!  Thanks for popping in today!

While on vacation, John and I visited a replica of the Santa Maria; it was built in Spain and travels all over, stopping at various ports for a couple months at a time for tourists to take a look at how those sailors (40 of them on this tiny boat) sailed across the Atlantic so long ago!

The crew is Spanish but spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable about the ship; in Columbus' day, the only crew member that had a bunk was the captain!  All the sailors had to sleep on deck....can you imagine, in the wind and rain, and no bathroom facilities.  No thanks!  Luckily, this crew will have an engine to use on their trip back to Spain (as well as facilities), but they do use their sails as much as possible.  They estimate it will take a month to return.

As many times as I've been sailing and on a boat, I've never gotten seasick, but I felt a wee bit queasy on this one...not sure why!  I didn't get many pictures because I got dizzy looking up!  I am sure the heat and humidity didn't help any!  I did snag one of us:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI248 Polished Thank You

Happy Friday, peeps! It's time for a new As You See It challenge, and we have an awesome sketch:

I couldn't wait to play with one of the new In Colors, Polished Pink, so I pulled out some cardstock and ink, along with some True Love DSPs, and went to work:

The card base and sentiment from Ornate Thanks are Polished Pink; the butterflies from Butterfly Gala are colored with several different shades of pink, and the scalloped border is Melon Mambo:

I added some Wink of Stella to the butterfly, along with some Genial Gems, then stamped the sentiment (in Memento Black, but it certainly doesn't look like it!) and another butterfly on the inside:

I love this sketch....I need several thank you cards, so I will be making a few more of these!  I hope you'll play along with us this week and show us what you create with the sketch!  Share it with us at As You See It!  Thanks for popping in today!

TCC151 Brilliant Butterfly

Happy Wednesday, all!  Our Card Concept challenge for this week is a brilliant one:

I had a few ideas in my head, but since I usually don't tend to go for bright jewel colors, I thought I would use them, but in a minimal way!  So here we go:

My card base of Thick White cardstock was embossed with lines created with a stylus and my scoring board.  I added a panel of Magenta Madness and True Love DSP, then did a watercolor background on a piece Shimmery White cardstock with some Pacific Point ink.  I stamped the butterfly from Positive Thoughts and added some deeper shades of PP and Granny Apple Green.  I cut it out with some circular dies, and rhinestones added some sparkle.

Finally, a sentiment from Ornate Thanks, also stamped in Pacific Point and diecut with the same Stitched So Sweetly dies finished off my clean-and layered card:

I hope you'll play along with us; if you need to identify the different concepts we feature at The Card Concept, check out our blog, then play along!  Can't wait to see you there!

Thanks for popping in today---enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS463 Thank You

Happy Day-after-Thanksgiving Day!  I am beat, but we had a lovely dinner!  I have a very simple but pretty thank you card to send to my customers and I used the FMS sketch for them:

In the hustle and bustle of creating holiday cards, we sometimes forget the other pretty papers that we own!  I pulled out some cheerful prints from Flowers for Every Season, and made use of some scraps:

This first one uses the sentiment from Beautiful Autumn, stamped in Poppy Parade, and a little Just Jade leaf diecut from the Christmas Cardinals dies for an accent:

This next one is a little stepped up....I wanted a narrower sentiment so as not to cover up that beautiful floral image on the DSP, so I stamped a sentiment from Ornate Thanks, punched the edges with the Banner Pick-a-Punch, and for added interest, embossed the card front with the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder:

and since I had already stamped and diecut the larger thank you, I adhered that to the inside of this card, along with the little leaf:

Thanks for popping by today!

The "kiddie" table from yesterday....this table was in my grandmother's house and I imagine that many of my cousin's fannies sat on these chairs!!  Cassidy was a wee bit too big for a chair, so John put a cushion from one of our patio chairs on to a plastic milk crate and it worked like a charm:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TCC134 Beautiful Day

Hey peeps, it's Wednesday, and that means another gorgeous Card Concept challenge!  Julie floors me with the beautiful photo inspirations she comes up with!  This one is good for Mother's Day, or for any special occasion, really:

My mom is gone, so I thought I would use the challenge to make a thank you card, which I always need for my customers, and I thought it would be nice to use some soon-to-be-retiring products for my card today:

My "Classy and Elegant" card features the big floral from Beautiful Day, and I heat embossed it in Copper Embossing Powder, then lightly watercolored it with some Blushing Bride and Soft Seafoam  inks.  I also used the Bouquet Bunch dies to add some accent pieces.  I tucked some Rose Metallic thread behind it as well:

I tried to create a pretty watercolor background with some So Saffron and Petal Pink inks, but it didn't work quite the way I had planned, so I tucked it into my Tin Tile embossing folder at an angle, to give it a little more interest!  I also heat embossed a sentiment from Ornate Thanks on some Petal Pink cardstock diecut with the Stitched Rectangle dies:

and added a couple of sentiments on the inside as well, stamped in Copper (ret) and Petal Pink inks:

My inspiration came from the flowers as well as the copper picture frame and cups....what inspires you?  I hope you'll share your pretty creation at The Card Concept this week as well!  And I am going to enter this at the Always Fun Challenge this week as well, as they are looking for embossing folders!  Thanks for popping in today!

You know you're tired when you fall asleep with your glasses on!  And check out that blanket!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

You Made My Day

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I am running a little later than normal today...just a lazy Saturday morning after watching too much Britbox last night!!  I have been hoarding these lovely birdhouse images my friend Lisa sent me long ago, and thought it would be nice to actually color one in and USE it on something!  Once I started to put things together, I realized that the FMS sketch, that I already used once this week, would be good for this card as well!  So here we go:

And as a refresher, here's the FMS sketch:

I watercolored the image with various inks and an aquapainter, then fussy-cut it out; the background paper is French Flea Market by Photo Play; it matches perfectly with the Blushing Bride mat I used, diecut with the Ornate Layers die:

My sentiment, stamped in Blushing Bride, is from Ornate Thanks....I made a little fishtail banner and popped it up over the edge of the birdhouse.  I needed a very special thank you card, so this will be going out in the mail soon!

My nephew is a contractor (he put our addition on), and since he has two boys, it's natural that they would want to be in the shop with him, learning the trade!  Jameson built his first bird feeder recently (and yes, he's a leftie!):

Not bad for someone who just turned five this week....and with a little help from a very talented daddy!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!  Thanks for popping in today!

TCC133 Ornate Sympathy

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Hope your week is going well!  It's time for another Card Concept challenge, and look at this beautiful image Julie chose for us this week:

Obviously, that gorgeous bouquet prompted me to ink up the flowers from Ornate Style--this time I used Stazon Black ink on some watercolor paper, and I loosely watercolored them in:

I used inks of Petal Pink, Rich Razzleberry, Rococo Rose, So Saffron, Seaside Spray and Old Olive, then shadowed it with Sahara Sand, and gave it a Sahara Sand mat using the Ornate Layers dies.  For a little extra interest, I stamped the center flower a second time, colored it and fussy-cut it, then popped it up with a dimensional:

I needed a sympathy card, so I stamped and heat-embossed this sentiment in Craft White ink on Basic Black cardstock and made a skinny banner:

and added a non-SU sentiment on the inside, along with the single daisy from the same Ornate Style set:

I was inspired by the colors of the flowers as well as the neutral background, so I would call this Clean and Layered, as the card is fairly simple, mainly concentrating on the large image!  I hope you'll find some inspiration from the photo, as well as the amazing creations the design team has created!  You can see all the styles, as well as the samples, at The Card Concept blog!  Check them out and play along!

It wouldn't be fair to show you Jameson and Sawyer dying their eggs, and not show you the actual egg hunt!!  Here are a few pix, including Slammer the dog, who seems to find that egg pretty interesting:
