PP640 Home is Where the Plants Are

Happy Sunday, peeps!  And Happy Mother's Day to those moms in the US!  Jaydee has a fun color challenge for us today at the Paper Players!  Check this out:

I chose to use hues of pink and green that are a little different than the challenge photo, using some pretty papers from the Carta Bella Gather at Home line:

I also used the FMS sketch:

I cut strips of the paper in dots and plaid, then mounted them on a floral background.  This cute little sentiment is also from the paper pad; I adhered it to an Ornate Frame diecut of Basic Black.  The silver portion of the challenge is from the tiny little silver embellishments on the diecut:

I just think this sentiment is perfect for Dana...she LOVES plants!  So this card is for her, for Mother's Day! I used the same sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin kit as I used on a card earlier this week; the card base is Petal Pink and it doesn't look like it would match here in this photo, but in real life, it does!

I hope you'll play with our fun color challenge--it may look daunting, but I am sure you crafty peeps will knock it out of the park!  Check out what the other Design Team members did by visiting the Paper Players blog, then share yours with us too!

Dana took me and Cassidy to The PotteryWorks in Lancaster, PA for some Mother's Day creative time!  Dana chose a little fairy-light jar; believe it or not, once it is fired, it will be a pretty aqua color!  Cassidy chose a Star Wars bank to give to her cousin!

I made a couple little figurines and an acorn dish; it's hard to imagine what the final product will look like, as the colors intensify when fired.

Afterwards, we went to an outdoor restaurant near the shop, and while we were eating, we heard some "clip-clops"......

This police officer was on the biggest horse I have ever seen!  He told us it is a Percheron, and his name, aptly, was King!  He's so tall the officer has to stand on something to get up into the saddle!

I think Cassidy had some other thoughts, based on the proximity of that horse's rump!

And look at the size of his feet!

It was a really great evening! I'll let you know what the final projects look like when we pick them up in a couple of weeks!  Thanks for popping in, enjoy your day and be blessed!

Easy Mother's Day Card

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I have a quick card today, one where the DSP does most of the work---I love those, don't you?  I needed a Mother's Day card for John's stepmom and she loves flowers, so I pulled out a piece of this pretty floral from the retired Awash With Beauty papers, added a sentiment, ribbon and a few sequins, and it was done:

I know I could never re-create these beautiful florals myself, so I am glad SU did it for me!  My sentiment is from Hero Arts, ribbon is retired SU and the sequins are from my stash!  I diecut the banner and added a little mat:

And the inside sentiment is from a past Paper Pumpkin.  Isn't that font pretty?  Love it!

So glad you stopped by today!

Cassidy had woodshop this year and she made a "holder".  Dana said she made one exactly like it when she was in school, but it was a "CD holder".  Since they don't use CDs any more, now it's just a "holder" for whatever you want to hold, LOL!  Cassidy's using it to hold her Bible and a little lamp...I wonder if Dana even knows where hers is!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI225 A Sketch for Mother's Day

Happy Friday, peeps!  I am glad the weekend is upon us!  Although all the days are kind of running together, aren't they?  We did get to go out earlier in the week...my military dependent card expired last July!!!  I don't use it very often, so I never even realized it.  The issue was is that the Reserve center is in Delaware, and PA residents are not allowed to travel into DE unless they have quarantined for 14 days.  The person to whom John spoke at the Reserve center said it would be okay, so off we went.....and we didn't have a problem at all, never even saw a police car or anything!  Phew!

So anyway, today we have a new challenge at As You See It, and it's a sketch!  I needed a Mother's Day card for John's stepmom, so it was a perfect opportunity to put it to use:

No photo description available.

This is the time of the year where all the SU demos are scrambling to use up some of the DSP in their stash that will be retiring!  At least I know I am!  My card today features Mosaic Mood:

I seem to have forgotten how to "stamp".....my cards have been using lots of paper and diecuts and very little ink!  I fussy-cut this pretty hummingbird (which has enamel accents, although you can't see them) and mounted on it a couple of layers of the DSP, then added some Mint Macaron ribbon.  The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings, stamped in Soft Suede, and it just fits in that wee little space, thanks to my Stamparatus!

The two little dots at the top that look like googly eyes are actually Gilded Gems, part of the Ornate Garden bundle....they look a little more realistic in the second picture, LOL!

I hope you'll find some inspiration with our sketch and play along with us!  Check out what the DT created as well at the As You See It blog!

Can you take a couple more dirty little boys...this is all, I promise!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Sugar Pea 43 Love U

Happy Friday, peeps!  Happy weekend!  Looking forward to spending some time with the family this weekend, how about you?  Hope you have something fun planned!   I thought the Sugar Pea Mix it Up challenge this week was a pretty one:

and I needed a Mother's Day card for John's stepmother, so I pulled out W Plus 9's Freehand Florals and made some roses for my simple CAS card:

I had watched this video which was very helpful in lining up these beautiful layered stamps!  I mounted them on a Crumb Cake panel which was stamped with the retired Dictionary stamp, then I sponged the edges a bit for a vintage look.  Before sponging, I cut the corner of my panel, as well as my card, with a 1 3/4" circle punch to get the rounded edge.  My sentiment is from Altenew's Label Love.  The inside just has a simple Mother's Day sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.  Aren't these colors pretty?

So happy that you popped in today!

And speaking of Mother's Day, Cassidy's class had a luncheon for their moms yesterday.  They brought in different items for their menu, and Dana chose a turkey sandwich, which Cassidy made (without mayo, because that's how SHE likes it), and Cassidy added not one, but two chocolate chip muffins and some chips.  A good, healthy lunch, LOL!  I told Dana it looked like she used an entire loaf for the sandwich, but it was just the heel:

And the muffin actually looks like a little face!!  But they had fun and Dana got to meet some of Cassidy's classmates as well as their moms, too!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Retro Mom's Day

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I made a big deal last week about not making Mother's Day cards, and here I am with a Mother's Day card!  I saw the sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches, but I sorta forgot about the clean and simple part, so I used the sketch anyway, but I won't submit it.  I saw that the Graphics Fairy was looking for samples using their vintage images, of which I have LOTS, so I pulled out this retro mom in the kitchen....well, I guess she's a mom--anyway, on my card, she's a mom:

I actually dusted off my Copics and colored her in!  Gasp!  It was a simple image, so it didn't take too long and I didn't do a lot of shading because I'm really not that good at Copic shading, LOL!  I used some really cute BoBunny papers called Kiss the Cook and added some stitched die embellishments, as well as a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes;

and a sentiment from Perfect Mix on the inside....these are so fun for Mother's Day!

Enjoy your day!

We had to take the sliding board down to make way for the equipment, but Cassidy still found a way to play on it:

Be blessed!

SIP97 for Mother's Day and A Wee Little Giveaway

Hi peeps! Hope you all had a good weekend...it seems like I totally skipped Monday, although I did have a fun class with some of my stamping friends!  But Tuesday is here, and our Stamp Ink Paper challenge for this week is "Mother's Day"!
Image may contain: text

I thought it would be fun, since I've been making CAS cards for the last few posts, to add some layers and doodads to my card today!  I found a great sketch at Mojo Monday, and the Retro Rubber challenge wants buttons along with a stamp at least a year old!

RRCB 61

I didn't do a romantic or traditional Mother's Day card...my mom and grandmothers are all gone so it's not a holiday for which I traditionally make cards!  One thing I do remember about my mom and my grandmother, is that they both passed along a love of needle arts to me.  So I thought a sewing-themed card would be fun!  Not only did I use some retro stamps, I used some retro papers as well!  I pulled out some really old Cosmo Cricket papers from the Material Girl line, along with a Paper Smooches set called Needle Little Love, which I believe is from 2014:

Everything except "mom" is from the PS set; it is from SU's Labeler Alphabet, and everything is stamped in Basic Black.  I arranged all the layers using papers from the pad, and piecing some of the images and fussy-cutting them out!  I added paper buttons to the button panel, so it will mail nice and flat!!

I just love this little cross stitch border...and did you check out the stamped needle above?!  Cute!

On the inside, I did stamp a Mother's Day sentiment from last year's Paper Pumpkin, then added another sentiment from the PS set....I don't usually do that, but I like that cute little sentiment!

SO, would you like to receive this card?  Since I won't be sending this to anyone, I'm going to do a little giveaway!  Leave a comment on this blog post (please, no anonymous comments as I have no way to contact you) and I will pick a random comment on Friday, May 5 and that commenter will receive my card!  Please, only US and Canada addresses, sorry....sometimes it takes over a week for mail to reach its destination and I don't want it to arrive after Mother's Day!  Just make sure your comment is connected to an email address so I can email you for your snail mail address!

Be sure to check out the other Design Team members' creations at Stamp Ink Paper too...and I can't wait to see YOURS in the gallery as well!

My sweet friend Linda shared these cute little butterfly-embellished Hershey's nugget favors at my Cards & Coffee class yesterday:

Cassidy was all smiles when I told her she could have a couple!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Paper Players 194

DSCF2601

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  Today, Jaydee is our hostess at the Paper Players, and she’s chosen that wonderful May holiday of Mother’s Day to highlight this week:

I found a lovely image at the Gecko Galz website and they are having a Mother’s Day challenge as well, so I incorporated my tag into a vintage-style card:

My card base is Very Vanilla and I used some MME Lost & Found papers, I think the line is Blush.  I sponged all the edges, added some machine stitching on one panel, then added my tag.  I did diecut one edge and added some piercing, although it’s tough to see here.  My sentiment is from the retiring Delightful Dozen, which was inked in Versamark and then Soft Suede and heat-embossed with clear embossing powder:

It stands out nicely on my tag!  Now, show us what you are going to create for this special holiday!  Share it with all of us on the Paper Players blog!  And here are the other designers’ samples as well:

I did make another card for this challenge (you know how that goes!) and it has a more whimsical feel:

I just had to play with some new goodies, LOL!  Enjoy your day!

US210 & SR175 and Happy Mother’s Day!

0

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I had a little time to stamp today before my daughter took me to lunch for Mother’s Day!  I used the inspiration photo from Stampin’ Royalty:

Swoon!  Love these colors together!  I also used the Unscripted Sketches sketch for today:

US_Sketch210

And here we go:

DSCF4776

I am so excited that Soft Sky is making a comeback!  It looks lovely with Baked Brown Sugar, don’t you think?  The actual color is a tiny bit more green that what shows here on my computer….but it still a lovely color!  I used some retired background stamps (Linen and Floral) as well as a wee bit of the new Mosaic Madness, and some bits and pieces from the Artisan Embellishment pack, which is still available!

DSCF4777

I did some stitching around my panel, and used some MDS burlap for my curved mat!  Any questions, please shoot me an email!

Dana took a picture of Cassidy last week blowing bubbles, so I enlarged it and put it in a simple black frame:

DSCF4773

I used Decorate a Daisy and A Round Array to cover up a portion of the photo that wasn’t really that pretty!

DSCF4774

I believe she liked it!

And Cassidy made a “stained glass” vase for her mommy at the library craft time yesterday:

Happy Mother’s Day to all, just a wee bit early!
