Summer Surfin'

Happy Monday, peeps!  It's another beautiful day here in PA and it was a beautiful day for our picnic yesterday! But I was exhausted afterwards and didn't stamp at all!  So I took some time this morning to celebrate almost-here summer with a card that uses the sketch from Atlantic Hearts as well as the theme from Make My Monday, which is summer fun!

I pulled out some summery papers along with a surfboard stamp set that I bought a couple of years ago and have never used!  Yikes!  So here we go:

Basically a very simple card....layers of fun papers, and I stamped the surfboards on some scraps of the same papers and colored them in with blends.

The sentiment was heat-embossed on vellum and diecut with a rectangle die:

On the inside, a sentiment from the new Charming Sentiments:

Thanks for popping by today!

I've been doing a few crafty things lately, mostly cross stitch; I made this little pillow for my niece's new little baby boy, due in a couple of weeks, it's to hang on his crib:

And I had been knitting a few little stockings, to practice my Fair Isle skills, so I took one and made it into a baby's first ornament:

I can see that tag getting all bent up from year to year, but oh well!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SS661 Happy Birthday in Blue

Hi peeps, happy Monday!  We had a great weekend, hope you did too.  I played in my stamp room just a little bit; I am still exploring all the wonderful DSP patterns in the new catalog!  I found this sketch from Sketch Saturday:

and using some papers from You're A Peach, along with a sentiment from the new Best Year, came up with this:

I embossed the base with the Dots embossing folder, then created my layers with the DSP.  The sentiment was stamped in Balmy Blue and diecut with the Tasteful Tags, running the tag end through the non-tag end to create a symmetrical diecut:

I added some panels of Mossy Meadow DSP behind my sentiment, then snipped out a couple flowers from a scrap of the DSP to add to the sentiment.  Such pretty colors and patterns!  I am also entering this in Make My Monday's Floral Birthday challenge!  Thanks for popping in today!

Over the weekend we attended a fundraiser baseball game featuring the local police and fire company from a neighboring town against the local PA State Police!  The recipient of the fundraiser is a young man from our congregation who was seriously injured in an accident eight months ago. Now that he is out of the hospital, his family has the monumental job of seeing to his every need as he is basically still in a coma.  He does try to communicate but he hasn't "awakened" yet, and his care is very expensive.  Anyway, the police won two games out of three, there were lots of raffle baskets, 50/50 tickets sold, and of course, food! Cassidy goofed around with her cousin Jameson:

and they played so hard all afternoon that she fell asleep in the jeep:

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
