Vintage Fa La La Christmas

Happy Tuesday, peeps! I am squeaking in a sweet little vintage Christmas card for the "belles" at Jingle Belles, where their theme is "Walking in a Vintage Wonderland"!  I love Christmas and I love vintage!  So I searched in my stash of papers and found a few that worked for my collage-style card today!  I did some trimming and sponging and diecutting and did not do a bit of stamping, at least on the front! Here we go:

I cannot begin to tell you who makes these papers; I bought just a few pieces loose from an online seller and there is no name associated with them, but they are all from the same package.  You may be able to see the background print peeking out from the elements that I cut apart and mounted on top.  Before mounting, I sponged each edge and roughed them up with the edge of my ruler.  I also added some glittery holly leaves (white glimmer paper with some Soft Sky ink sponged on them) and a little diecut bow (Real Red with some white ink sponged on it),  Here are some closeups of these delightful little scenes:

Everything went on a Naturals Ivory card; I stamped a sentiment from Flonzcraft on the inside with Crumb Cake ink.

These images all just remind me of Christmases from when I was a little girl!  And I  promise, one of these days, I'll do some actual stamping on a card! It's just so fun to pull out some neat papers and let them do the work though!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC676 Merry Christmas

Hello, everyone!  Happy Monday! Hope you had a good weekend!  We have a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts:

And since I am finished with Easter cards, I am taking the opportunity to get caught up on some Christmas cards!  Here we go:

And since the challenge at the Jingle Belles this week is "whimsical", I thought I'd pull out this cute little reindeer from Clearly Besotted that hasn't seen any ink in AGES!  Isn't he sweet? I stamped him in Pecan Pie, Real Red and Garden Green, then fussy-cut him out:

He went on a little panel of starry paper, and I added some scrap strips of red, green glimmer and Pecan Pie, then put it all on a panel of embossed holly that was sitting on my desk unused from another project!  The final addition was some green and white baker's twine along with a "stitched" sentiment from the same set!

This was an interesting sketch to put together--it was a bit of a challenge, but I really thought it came together well!  I hope you'll be inspired to play with our sketch this week too!  You can see all the details at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

JB2601 Wrapping Paper Santa

Happy Wednesday, peeps! I am starting off the new year with some Christmas cards, LOL!  I totally wiped out my supply last year, so I need to start replenishing!  The Jingle Belles want to see cards made with gift wrapping supplies!  Dana had some really cute gift wrap this year and she gave me some little pieces that she had left over---even before I saw this challenge!  Woohoo!  So here we go:

I am not sure what kind of fold you call this card....it's a standard 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" size, scored on the 8 1/2" side at 4 1/4" and 2 1/8".  I guess maybe a z-fold card?  Anyway, The Santa and the stripes are both from wrapping paper; card base is Crumb Cake and I embossed a piece of Shaded Spruce with a holly embossing folder for the front.  I made a belly band (that is positioned crookedly right now!) with some retired Riding Hood Red cardstock and I added the sentiment, popped up so it would slide over Santa's beard.  Here's the inside:

It's hard to see, but Santa's beard is embellished with Wink of Stella, and I added a few snowflake sequins for fun!   Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Christmas Cookie Greetings

Hello, peeps! I am squeaking in this Christmas card for the Jingle Belles sketch in the nick of time, as well as the color challenge from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown:

Those colors remind me of the beautiful papers I got recently from Mintay, so I pulled some of them out and went to work:

All the papers and the image are from the Christmas Blessings pad; I diecut a Basic Beige and Basic White circle for the cookies, which were fussy-cut.

It's hard to see, but there's a wee brown glimmer star on the center of the cookie (but you can see the dab of glue I used, LOL), which coordinates with the stars on each end of the sentiment banner, which is Crumb Cake, stamped in Cinnamon Cider.  It's from the retired Trees for Sale.

To go with the cookie theme, I stamped this heart and sentiment from Nothing Sweeter, also retired:

I love how realistic these papers look!  And now I have another Christmas card for my stash!  Thanks for visiting today!

A few more birthday cards:

The above card is from my Long Island friend Sandy....love the stenciling on it!  The next card is a fun fold from my friend Robyn...what a cool opening on her card!

Finally, my friend Kathy made a cool card with the Notes & Totes die!  Adorable!

Thanks, ladies! Enjoy your day and be blessed

Joy to the World

Happy Friday, peeps! A quick post today--it's hot and I'm headed to the pool for the first time this summer!  My card today fulfills three challenges:  Jingle Belles' Tic Tac Toe challenge; CAS on Sunday wants an animal; and Just Add Ink wants Christmas in July!

I pulled out an oldie but goodie image of these snowy rabbits and went to work:

I used the left column of animal, diecut and red; after stamping my bunnies, I cut them out with a Perennial Postage die and added a narrow mat of Real Red.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp. It all went on a Smoky Slate card that was embossed with the Stitched With Whimsy die:

A pretty sentiment in Real Red went on the inside.  This is an inexpensive stamp from Scrapbook.com and I sometimes have trouble with their stamps performing well, but I found if I use Versamark first, then ink directly onto the stamp again with colored ink, they work much better! Just be sure to clean your stamp before doing the double process, you don't want to get colored ink on your Versamark pad!

My Christmas stash is growing! Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI350 Jingle All The Way

Hello, stamping friends! It's Friday and that means a new As You See It challenge!  This week, we have a fun sketch for you and as you can see, it's open to interpretation:

I recently won a set of Honey Bee bell dies, thanks to the gals at Jingle Belles, and I couldn't wait to put them to use on my card!  Here we go:

I diecut them from some retired Brushed Gold cardstock, and added some red glimmer paper clappers for fun!  Each bell is embellished with a red bow, and it all went on a panel of embossed Elegant Dots:

The sentiment is from a very old My Favorite Things set and I thought it worked well with my trio of bells!  A sentiment from Scrapbook.com went on the inside:

And since the Jingle Belles' challenge this week is Fa-La-La, in other words, make a card featuring a Christmas song, I thought this would work too!  Now you'll all be singing Jingle Bells in June!

I hope you'll play along with our fun sketch! I just love things in threes, so this was a favorite of mine and I hope you'll find it appealing as well!  Share your creation with us at As You See It!  Thanks for popping in today; enjoy your day and be blessed!

Merry Christmas Bells

Happy Saturday, peeps! A quick card today, a Christmas one that basically has almost no stamping!  The Jingle Belles want to see bells, and I've used the sketch from TGIF Challenges:

I found this star and bell cutout in my scrap bin while rummaging around on my desk and thought it would fit the bell challenge nicely!  I pulled out some DSPs from my stash and put them all together:

The star and pink snowflake papers are from Mintay (Merry Little Christmas), and the background paper is from Divinity Designs (Christmas Paper Collection 2014).  The little diecut is from Gummiapan:

I added some pink sequins, and before adhering the pink paper, I diecut out a panel from the background and used it to stamp the sentiment for the inside; it's from SU's Greetings of the Season:

Another Christmas card to add to my stash!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

One Layer Poinsettia

Happy Thursday, all!  The Jingle Belles challenge this week is to make a one-layer card, and the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge is an interesting color palette:

And the Christmas Kickstart challenge is poinsettias:

so I pulled out an old SU favorite, Poinsettia Petals, and went to work:

At first glance, this seems to be rather a not-very-cheery Christmas card, but the photo really doesn't do it justice!  I heat-embossed the poinsettia with Pebble Path and Versamark inks and clear embossing powder, and colored it with the Moody Mauve and Blackberry Bliss inks.  In hindsight, I would not add the shading around the outer edges, but you know how it does....once you start, you gotta keep going! I added some speckles and a pretty sentiment, all on a Basic Beige card base:

The embossing really gives it a nice touch!  I added a sentiment from the same poinsettia set as well as some stamped berries:

One-layer cards can be a challenge, but it can be done!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Warm Cocoa

Happy Saturday, peeps! I've got another Christmas card for you and it just happens to fulfill the Jingle Belles' Christmas Feast challenge!  I recently got this fun Christmas Cookies embossing folder and just had to pair it up with a mug of hot cocoa!  Here we go:

I embossed a piece of Crumb Cake with the folder, then sponged on some white craft ink to look like icing!  The little mug from the retired Scentsational Season was perfect stamped in Real Red, and I added some "steam", heat embossed on vellum (CTMH):

The sentiment is from TPC called Sweet Christmas, and I don't remember where the inside sentiment came from, sorry!

Thanks for popping in today! It's chili cook-off tonight, so I will be in the kitchen for the rest of the day!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Jingle Belles Pink Christmas

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  The Jingle Belles have a pink Christmas card challenge in honor of Breast Cancer Month! What a nice gesture--they're donating money for each card submitted! I am throwing my hat in the ring with this one:

I used Waffle Flower's Postage Stamp dies and Christmas stencils in shades of Sweet Sugar Plum, Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Bubble Bath and Crumb Cake to create my card:

I used the Postage Collage stamp and a little Christmas stamp from Sweet & Sassy to add my little "stamp" icons in Versafine Black and Crumb Cake.  The inside of the Sweet Sugar Plum card was stamped with a goodie-but-oldie stamp from Amy R's Handy Christmas Greetings:

I still need some practice with my stenciling, but I'll keep trying!

John took my nephew and his sons Jameson and Sawyer fishing on Saturday on John's new (to him) boat:

They only caught one catfish, which they threw back, and two eels...yuck!  That was quite the experience, John said!  But they had fun and it was a beautiful day on the river!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.  Genesis 1:20-21

AYSI330 & JB2417 Vintage St Nick

Happy Friday, peeps! I have been struggling with my creativity these last few days....I am overwhelmed with new product and I don't know where to begin! I did force myself to create a new Christmas card because the As You See It Challenge is vintage, as well as the Jingle Belles challenge chose the Spirit of Christmas Past for their current challenge. I had not delved into my Traditions of St Nick DSP or the new upcoming Christmas Labels bundle, so that gave me some impetus!  Here's the challenge prompt:

And here's my card; again, not fabulously creative but it gave me a chance to use some new stuff:

I fussy cut St Nick along with some tree and popped him up on a piece of Country Lace DSP, matted wtih Mossy Meadow.  I did give him some shading with a sponge dauber and Crumb Cake ink:

The front of the card is the opposite side of the St Nick DSP, which is a pretty vintage pattern in Real Red.  I diecut one of the labels from Basic Beige cardstock and added the sentiment; it is so cool how the words fit right into the panels of the label!  Love it!  I did add some little glimmer paper stars using the star die from Iconic Imagery:

Inside was another sentiment from Christmas Labels!

I think I'd going to spend some time at the pool today...rain is forecasted for tomorrow and I've been busy in the house all week long, so some "outdoor time" is needed!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!
