FMS696 Vintage Ads

Happy Thursday, peeps! I found these vintage ads in some of my papers; I've had them for a long time and I can't even remember who makes them, so when I saw the FMS sketch this week, I thought I could put a dent in my stash!  Here's the sketch:

My proportions may be a bit off but hopefully you can still see the sketch! I don't need a baby card, but that's what came to mind when I began creating:

I trimmed down my ads to fit the front and added a Blushing Bride panel behind them (which seemed to match better on my desk than in this picture!), cutting it with an Everyday Details die, then stamping it with a little polka dot design in white craft ink.  I added a little "congratulations" banner in the center:

And a little sentiment on the inside:

I was happy to put these fun little ads to use!  It really didn't make a dent in my stash though, LOL!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

HSS467 Shabby Chic Wedding Congrats

Happy Tuesday, all! My niece recently surprised everyone and got married! They'd been engaged for a long time and just decided to get married without any big fuss! (Smart couple!)  Naturally, I had to make them a congratulations card, and the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch was perfect for what I had in mind.  Here's the sketch:

I haven't done a shabby-chic card for a long time and I really wanted to use some of the pretty vintage papers I had in my stash.  I pulled out a retired SU stamp set called Nature's Prints and went to work:

My card base is Basic Beige, with Very Vanilla accents, and the papers are from PhotoPlay and Kaiser Craft.  (I admit, these are hard colors to photograph!)  I stamped a sentiment from Hero Arts on the scripty piece, then added a sprig from the Nature's Prints, stamped in Basic Beige, as well as some seam binding that I dyed with BB ink, crumpled up and heat set in my microwave!

A sentiment from the same SU set was stamped on the inside, and I also overstamped the same sprig on top of the sentiment, using Versmark ink:

And here's a photo of the couple---they look like they could be fashion models, don't they? We wish them lots of blessings!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS689 Sepia Sympathy

Happy Friday, all! I'm a little behind schedule today!  Since John told me I needed to make more sympathy cards, I decided to use the FMS sketch from Cecile to remedy that.  Here it is:

I made my central portion of the card, then realized it was too big to fit on the size card I wanted!  So I opted to make a larger 5" square card!  Here we go:

The scripty portion is from Elements of Text, stamped in Crumb Cake, and the greenery is from the retired Nature's Prints, stamped in Crumb Cake and a wee bit of Pecan Pie:

I added a Crumb Cake mat and a scalloped Pecan Pie mat, as well as a bit of twine and pearls from embellishments.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  I did add a few speckles around the edges as well, they're also from Elements of Text.  It feels good to use some of my older retired sets!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC631 Patriotic Thinking of You

Happy Monday, everyone!  It's time for the latest Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, and I wanted to create a card in patriotic colors for Memorial Day, but not necessarily in a Memorial Day theme, because I don't send out those kinds of cards! But I knew I had some papers in vintage patriotic colors, so that's what I went with!  First, the sketch:

To accomodate the size of my papers, I chose to make my card a wee bit larger than normal; it's 6 1/4"x 4 3/4", from Basic Beige.  I cut my printed background paper to fit my card, then simply cut our the floral panel and added a Night of Navy border, although in my photo, it looks much brighter:

The sentiment is from Hero Arts, stamped on another piece from the same paper pad and diecut with a 3/4" wide banner die:

And since my card is a little larger than normal, I created a custom envelope with some paper I had in my stash, no idea the maker!!

I hope that you'll have some time this week to play with our sketch at the Atlantic Hearts!  Thanks for visiting; enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP734 CAS Challenge from Elizabeth

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Happy Easter, too!  Elizabeth is our Paper Players hostess this week and she has a fun CLEAN-AND-SIMPLE challenge for us:

Isn't that little bunny adorable?  I already had all my Easter cards done, but I did remember this cute little pair of bunny slippers in my stash:

I used the sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches:

I used a piece of Petal Pink DSP for the left panel, embellishing it with a wee bit of cardstock that was diecut with a scalloped stitched die.  The slippers were stamped in Versafine Black and the ears and noses were watercolored with Petal Pink ink:

The outside sentiment is from Hero Arts; the inside is from A Dozen Thoughts:

I am also entering this at the Krafty Chicks challenge, where they are looking for CAS creations!

This is such a fun challenge! You could use bunnies for any number of occasions!  Don't forget that it has to be clean-and-simple---minimal supplies and layers! Be sure to check out the samples from the Design Team over at the Paper Players to get some inspiration! Hope to see you there!

AHSC625 Daisy Sympathy

Happy Wednesday to everyone!  Time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I finally got to play with ONE thing from the new upcoming SU catalog, and it's this pretty cardstock in Cloud Cover...isn't that a lovely color?!  I do love my blues!  I paired it with some non-SU papers in my stash; here we go:

I stamped the daisy from the Online Exclusive You Are Remarkable set in Memento Black ink directly on to the yellow print paper, and stamped the leaves in Mint Macaron.  I wanted to make the daisy white, so I used some White Craft ink with a very damp paintbrush and filled in the petals:

If I were to do this again, I would leave the paper in my Misti, ink, color and then ink again because I did go over the lines a wee bit on the narrower petals!  It's a learning curve, right?!  I added a layer of Cloud Cover and then some daisy print and my sympathy sentiment.  Here's the inside:

It's hard to make these sympathy cards sometimes, but unfortunately, they're necessary!  I hope you'll play along with our AHSC sketch this week, it's a great one!!  Check out what the Design Team did over at the AHSC blog!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

Another Sympathy Card

Happy day-after-Christmas, everyone! I have been MIA with all my holiday preparations, but sadly, I needed another sympathy card this week! I snuck into my craft room a couple days ago and made this simple card.  It uses the sketch from Inspire.Create, and the colors from Creative Colour Challenges:

I pulled out an old wooden stamp from Stampscapes, along with some DSPs and this is what I came up with:

I used Basic Beige for the stamped panel and card, and Country Woods and Countryside Inn DSPs.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I was surprised how nice the Blueberry Bushel ink looked on the Basic Beige cardstock:

I used an older Our Daily Bread Designs verse for the inside, along with a Hero Arts sentiment as well:

My only embellishment was some Basic Beige ribbon.  The family who lost their mom used to have a bed and breakfast called the Log House, so I thought this image was appropriate.  So glad you popped in today!

So on Christmas, I had most of my immediate family, their children and grandchildren, for dinner and dessert.  That included four boys, ranging in ages from one to nine! And Maven was in the mix too with her almost-one-year-old voice!  The noise was deafening, but it was fun.  I recently saw a clip on FB where parents gave babies a choice of two things to play with; one was a toy and the other was something like a box, a spoon, or just something that you wouldn't think would capture their eye, but every time, the child went for the non-toy item!  Maven's mom sent me this video, which totally reinforces that idea (along with the dads who were involved as well!); be sure to turn up the audio, because listening to this little Cole laugh just made me laugh too:

And here's that little Maven herself with Aunt Dana! (And she was playing with a spoon!)

They just grow up so fast!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS663 & LRW783 Simple Sympathy

Happy Thursday, all.  Sadly, we lost a former church member this week, one of the godliest men I knew.  He was a farmer, a millwright, a hunter and served his community tirelessly.  I wanted to use the paper from Winter Meadow that had the deer image on it, and the FMS sketch worked well with it:

The Little Red Wagon challenge this week is monochromatic, so since these papers are in shades of gray, that's what I used:

I used Smoky Slate and Basic Gray for my cardstocks, although I think probably Gray Granite would have been better, although it has a brown tinge to it that I really don't care for.  I did stamp a pine tree on the background and a sympathy sentiment on the front.  The horizontal panel is also embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.  A few enamel dots were the only embellishment.

It's sad to lose our loved ones at any time, but to lose them around the holidays is an additional challenge.  I know Dave's family is rejoicing that he is in heaven, but we all miss him here on earth!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

I heard a loud voice speaking from the throne: "Now God's home is with people!  He will live with them, and they shall be his people.  God himself will be with them, and he will be their God.  He will wipe away all tears from their eyes.  There will be no more death, no more grief or crying or pain. The old things have disappeared." Revelation 21:3-4

AHSC580 Deepest Sympathy

Happy Monday, peeps! Hope you all had a great weekend! It's time for another sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

And I chose this sketch for the second sympathy card I needed to make:

This flower from Unity's March stamp of the month club was stamped in Stazon ink on some watercolor paper, and watercolored with various shades of ink. I know it's probably not the usual theme for a sympathy card but I don't think they always need to be in somber shades.  And I love that little lady bug!  After stamping it, I stamped it again on masking paper and fussy-cut it out to create a mask for my circular image.  I created that by creating a stencil with a piece of acetate and a circle die, then lightly blending some yellow ink inside:

I added some white sequins, then mounted it all on a mat of Basic Black and a card of Old Olive.  A sentiment from Close to My Heart went on the inside:

I think this sketch is super-versatile and I can't wait to see what you come up with!  Be sure to share it with everyone at Atlantic Hearts!  Thanks for visiting today!

Cassidy's soccer team won their championship this weekend!  Now it will on to basketball camp and lots of other summer activities!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

So remember today and never forget: the Lord is God in heaven and on earth.  There is no other god.  Obey all his laws that I have given you today and all will go well with you and your descendants.  You will continue to live in the land that the Lord your God is giving you to be yours forever.

FMS638 Perennial Sympathy

Happy Thursday, peeps! It's an unappealing day...I have a dentist appointment AND I needed not one, but two sympathy cards! I will save one for later, though.  This one happens to use the FMS sketch for this week:

I delved into my Perennial Lavender DSP and came up with a couple beautiful prints to make my card:

I matted my shapes with some diecuts in Pretty Peacock, Highland Heather and Basic White, then added a sentiment, stamped in Gorgeous Grape, and added a second banner of Fresh Freesia:

I mounted everything on a Crumb Cake card and stamped a sentiment from the retired Here's A Card on the inside:

I just think these papers are stunning!

On a happier note, Cassidy decided she wanted to go back to her natural hair color, so Dana took her to the salon for the whole works!

It may take me a while to get used to this look!!!

Before and after!

Thanks for indulging me!  And thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!
