KJ212 and CYCI58 One-Layer Birthday

DSCF8166

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  My card today is for the Kraft Journal’s one-layer challenge!  I need to apologize to the KJ’s Marsha Drain; I saw her card after  I created mine, but I guess great minds think alike!  You can check her card out here!!!  I had been thinking of this technique for a while, so I was happy to put it to use:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Hello Darling Bordering Blooms Fabulous Four Stampin Up

After a little trial and error, I learned that when embossing, you need to stamp and emboss your main image FIRST, then stamp the background!  My line of flowers is from Bordering Blooms, stamped in Craft White ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  I colored the flowers with reinkers and an aquapainter, adding shading after each ink color dried:

DSCF8165

I then stamped the sentiment from Fabulous Four, embossed it, and stamped over top of the whole shebang with the floral image from Hello Darling in Blushing Bride ink , adding some Gold Encore speckles, and a few well-placed sequins:

Finally, I rounded one corner and added a Mossy Meadow bow….one-layer with a few interesting embellishments!  I am also submitting this to the Can You CASe It challenge 58, Designer’s Choice!

CYCI#58

In an effort to help Cassidy put her own clothes away, Dana recently put pictures and words on her dresser drawers to help her identify where to put what!  Good idea, right?  So it was not a surprise to me when, after we “organized” her doll clothes yesterday, Cassidy informed me that she needed “drawers” and some rectangles of paper on which to write each category of clothing.  I got her some little plastic baskets, and she told me what she wanted the labels to say.  I spelled them for her and she wrote them out:

She has discovered my glue dots (uh-oh) and used one to fasten each label to each basket:

And then she carefully placed them, along with her doll’s shoes (not sure why we didn’t get a basket for them!) on my kitchen floor:

So now we just need to find a better place to put them, NOT on my kitchen floor, LOL!

Enjoy your day!

Paper Players 233 and CTD330 and JAI251

DSCF8079-001

Hi everyone!  It’s Sunday, and that means another Paper Players challenge!  I love Sandy’s sketches, and this one is no exception!  Here we go:

When the new Butterfly Thinlet first came out, I just had to use it, and I haven’t done a thing with it since!  So I thought it would be pretty with this sketch, but I did have to rotate it to make it fit on my thank you card:

I also thought the colors from the Color Throwdown were lovely for a springy creation….we certainly need something like that on these cold days:

They listed their colors as light & dark green and orange, so I used some lovely Calypso Coral paper from Gold Soiree line and I diecut the butterfly pieces from Pistachio Pudding and Confetti Celebration DSP:

DSCF8081

Although it’s hard to see here, the circular element is stamped in Pistachio Pudding using the outline floral image from Hello Darling, and the flowers and sentiment are from Something to Say; I used the same sets on the inside as well:

DSCF8083

A few well-placed pearls added some elegance, and my card is ready to mail to one of my wonderful customers!  And since it is a thank-you card, I'm entering this in the Just Add Ink Just Add Thank You challenge as well!  I hope you’ll play along with our sketch this week…it’s a great one!  Check out what the other designers did as well:

Mojo 367 Thanks

DSCF5686

Just a quick post today; I used the Mojo Monday sketch for a fun thank you card!  Here’s the sketch:

And here’s my card:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Hello Darling Thank You Stampin UP

Looking at it here, it looks a wee bit busy….but it’s really pretty IRL, LOL!  I used some scraps of Gold Soiree and the Hello Darling stamp set for my upper panel.  The “sequins” were stamped in Gold Encore ink, and although it’s hard to tell here, the big scallops are Brushed Gold cardstock.  I little bit of Crisp Cantaloupe baker’s twine from SAB finished it off!

This poor little baby doll is one of Cassidy’s favorites.  Today she was feeding it – play-doh food!!!

She was quite intent on her task, too!

DSCF4977

Hello peeps!  A quick post today, lots of stuff to do!  The Paper Craft Crew challenge had an interesting sketch this week:

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #108 for September 3, 2014. #stampinup #cardchallenge #papercraftcrew

and it gave me a chance to use some of my Gold Soiree paper for the first time:

I admit that this card seems a bit busier than my usual style!  I stamped the main panel twice…..first in Cameo Coral and Crisp Cantaloupe, then I did another one in Crisp Cantaloupe and Blushing Bride, but I kept coming back to the original, darker one…..so that’s what I went with!  I used Hello Darling for my images, and I also used the striped circle for the two lower elements.  A sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts seemed to fit just perfectly!  The final touch was some pearls.

I originally had planned to use some different photos for today’s post, but we had a little mishap at my brother’s house yesterday…the kids were all playing at the playhouse, swinging, sliding and climbing the monkey bars, and Cassidy took a bit of a risk and ended up breaking her wrist!!  A trip to the ER, and four hours later:

It’s splinted right now, she’ll go to the orthopedic surgeon to have a real cast put on it today.  She really was doing better than this photo suggests….she and Mommy were making sad faces!  A little Motrin did wonders!!!  Grammy feels a wee bit bad that it was on her watch, but we know these things happen!  Have a great day!

ColourQ255

DSCF4846

Hi everyone!  Tuesday brings us another ColourQ challenge, and it’s a beauty:

I don’t think I did this challenge justice; I think Rich Razzleberry just always throws me for a loop!  I wanted it to be the focal color but I am never quite sure about using it when all is said and done:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings ColourQ255 Hello Darling Stampin Up

I used watercolor paper to give my images a softer tone, using Hello Darling (one of these days I am going to type “Hello Dolly” by mistake, LOL).  Maybe I should have softened the images with a damp paintbrush….but no, I probably would have made a big mess!  Instead, I added some Gorgeous Grunge speckles and some Work of Art swooshes to imitate watercoloring!  The sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts seemed to fit the mood of this card.  And although you can’t see it here, I added a little sparkle with a Jelly Roll pen to my faux sequins:

DSCF4844

IRL, it adds just a little shine and shimmer.  My Old Olive cardbase was stamped with another floral image from this set, creating a nice monochromatic background.  Ooops, almost forgot, the sketch today is from CAS(E) This Sketch #88:

Hope you will stop by the ColourQ blog to see the amazing samples the others have created….be sure to share your creation with us too!

Cassidy requested a Hello Kitty cake for her birthday.  Here’s my attempt (cake-decorating is not my forte, although I WISH it was!!):

Well, she liked it….and it tasted good….so I guess that’s all that matters!  Enjoy your day!

Mojo 358

DSCF4725

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I have had this little image from Hello Darling sitting on my desk, stamped and colored with Blendabilities, for a couple of weeks now, and I thought I should actually finish it up and make it into a card!  I used the Mojo Monday sketch for this week:

and added some pretty new papers from Flower Pot and All Abloom:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Mojo Monday 358 Hello Darling Stampin Up

I have been slow to get on the Blendabilities bandwagon, but after watching a few videos and a little practice, I was pretty happy with this effort.  I’ll keep plugging along!  The original piece had a little smudge of ink close to the smaller leaves, so I fussy-cut the good part out and stamped the image again on a scrap of Lost Lagoon and colored the leaves, then popped up the cut part of the image:

DSCF4728

I just hated to toss the image after all my work!  The leaves do look a little different on the two different colors of cardstock, but I still like the effect.  I added some Mossy Meadow ribbon and a wee bit of Coastal Cabana scallop in the background to complement the Coastal Cabana flowers.  I also finally used my new Heart Border punch!  What a fun little tool!  And I added some piercing, and finally a sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts.

It has been downright chilly here in SE PA, although I am not complaining a bit, it’s been even too chilly to go swimming!  But we got out our slip & slide and Cassidy and her cousin braved the cool air to do some slipping and sliding!

Enjoy your day!  Tomorrow I am the hostess for the Paper Players, AND….it is a very special day in our household!  Be sure to come see what it is!

FMS148

DSCF4549
Just a quick post today!  Happy Thursday!  I am still making thank-you cards; this one uses the FMS sketch by Jen Mitchell:
I went with a regular A2 card instead of a square one, using my favorite pattern from All Abloom and the floral image from Hello Darling:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Hello Darling Another Thank You Stampin Up

I stamped it in So Saffron, did a little embossing down the left side as well as some paper piercing, and added a sentiment in Mossy Meadow.  I added a little MM ribbon too, just to add a wee bit of interest!

Cassidy tried to husk corn for the first time yesterday:

When she asked what the brown silk was, Grampy showed her what his grampy used to do to him!!!

And her reaction:

Silly grampy!  Enjoy your day!
